Sizzle—Sizzle—
—Base, welcome survivors—, has—, located in Linhai City, the Eastern Base—, possesses—very—, and is willing to accept—a large number of survivors. *Sizzle*
The messages came in fits and starts, but it was enough to understand the gist of them.
Everyone listened intently to the radio, even stopping to eat.
Aunt Zhang felt a little embarrassed and quickly sped up her work.
Sweetie rushed forward to help, saying, "Aunt Zhang, what's the big deal? It's been so long since we've heard any news from outside. Everyone wants to hear it now. It's not like it's delaying anything. What's there to be afraid of? Don't worry about it so much, just relax."
The team leader smiled and said, "Sweetie is right. It's okay to listen to her. We're all in this together. Don't push yourself too hard. It's alright to cook a little later."
Everyone echoed her sentiments. Aunt Zhang continued working with her hands, but said, "Oh, that's because everyone is so understanding. Don't worry, we'll be able to eat soon."
"Haha, that's great! Aunt Zhang's cooking is absolutely delicious!" Everyone chimed in, making Aunt Zhang feel embarrassed. "That's just you flattering me. It's not that good. What good food can we possibly have at this time of year?"
Everyone understood, but being able to eat a hot meal at this time was extremely rare.
The laughter subsided, replaced by a sense of sadness.
Aunt Zhang knew she might have said something wrong, and not knowing what to say, she could only shut her mouth and hurry up and cook the dishes.
That's just how it is, and facing reality is very painful.
*Sizzle—Northern Base—*
When they heard that they had switched to another channel and the news on it was about the base that everyone was concerned about, they were overjoyed.
Even Aunt Zhang almost dropped the spatula, and everyone burst into laughter when they saw this.
Aunt Zhang laughed heartily. Then they all turned their heads to stare at the radio, almost getting excited over it.
Sizzle—sizzle—, everyone waited anxiously, eager to hear the news they wanted to hear.
The Northern Base is located in Beijing, and has taken in numerous survivors. The base possesses... Survivors near the location of the superhumans can come... *sizzle*... Try contacting other survivor bases... Research is underway, hoping to find survivors with special skills... (Further details to follow)
This is the Northern Base—a survivor—-_
Everyone has their own reasons for leaving Mingcheng. Going to Beijing is just an idea, but some of them may actually be going to Beijing, like Uncle Li, Aunt Zhang, Zheng Yongnian, and her.
Others might just be looking for a better base on their way out, and Beijing is just one option.
This is what she observed during their time together over the past few days.
They said they were going to Beijing, but there were only a few people there. Li Xiao was prepared for the possibility of being separated at any time. Now that she had received news from Beijing, she wondered what they would think.
She didn't inquire about the reason for leaving Mingcheng.
Everyone has their own secrets and their own past. What's the point of investigating so thoroughly? If we can share a common goal, then let's go together.
If we must part ways, then I wish everyone peace and good fortune.
We've only met by chance; if we're happy to meet, we should part amicably.
Li Xiao is a cold-hearted person. She hasn't been in this world for long, doesn't know many people, and has only interacted with a handful. The only people who are kind to her are probably a few in Beijing.
It's hard to imagine developing a deep friendship with someone you meet on the road in just a few days; they're just companions on this long journey.
It's better if you can get along well. If not, you can go your separate ways; it's not a big deal.
Everyone is thinking about it, and each person has to decide their own path.
The scene fell silent for a moment, with only the sound of Aunt Zhang's spatula stirring the food in the pan.
With the last few spatulas, "Alright, dinner's ready!" Only then did everyone snap out of their daze.
They placed the dishes on the wiped-down dining table: a bowl of dried vegetables, a bowl of potatoes, a bowl of soup, and a large pot of rice.
I just found the potatoes at the service station; they're in pretty good condition. We can enjoy them for a few meals now.
The meal was quite substantial, with each person receiving a large bowl of rice. After picking up their food, they sat down to eat. Only the team leader and Uncle Li remained at the table.
As the team leader ate his meal, he looked at his bowl and said, "I've decided to go to Beijing. It's the center of the country, and the base there should be the biggest and best. I think the system there should be the most comprehensive."
Uncle Li smiled at him, "You've finally made up your mind. I thought you'd get off halfway."
The captain chuckled softly, "Actually, I've always planned to go. You know, I can go anywhere, but I just feel that place is better."
Uncle Li nodded. "I believe you. You don't necessarily have to go to Beijing. There are good bases along the way where you can stay." Uncle Li advised.
“I didn’t go to Beijing for anyone else’s sake,” she said, glancing sideways at Uncle Li. “I wanted to go myself. You all know my ability is just enhancement, not as strong as a natural ability.” Seeing that Meng Yang was about to say something, she raised her hand to stop him. “I know what you’re going to say. Not everyone will be treated equally. You should understand that.”
Indeed, there are so many kinds of superpowers, some good and some bad. Many superpowered individuals have a sense of superiority and look down on those whose superpowers are not particularly good. Not every superpowered individual is respected.
Liu Zhigang's superpower was merely a physical enhancement, which didn't really have much effect, which was why he left Mingcheng.
The Beijing base is the largest and strongest, with a well-established system. He wants to go and see if he can stay there.
