Chapter 33 Encounter

The group silently packed up their belongings, while Yang Yuanfei, seeing how they were mistreating his mother, clenched his fists in anger.

However, he knew he wouldn't be of much use. Because of what happened last time, he hadn't followed instructions and had run away because he was too scared.

Although the captain and the others didn't say anything, he felt that they had a problem with him. He didn't want to do that, but he was too scared and acted reflexively without thinking. He hadn't done anything wrong.

Why don't these people understand me? They're even targeting my mother, just like she said, ostracizing her.

Sometimes, overthinking is a disease.

While the group chatted and laughed as they tidied up, two people sat together gloomily, neither showing any intention of helping.

Li Xiao and the others didn't care; they couldn't control what others did.

We finished cleaning up happily, and snacks made up the majority of the food. There wasn't much high-calorie chocolate, which is very filling. We'll divide it up again after everyone's gone; it'll melt if we don't eat it soon.

Before long, the rest of the people returned. Everyone had a good haul, a large bag full of goodies.

They went to residential buildings and found mostly grains and the like. Seeing this, Chen Yunhua looked down on Li Xiao and his group even more.

Everyone, take out your food. Let's cook and eat what we can now. We can save the taro, glass noodles, and regular noodles for later.

As they were enjoying a fairly substantial lunch, they heard the sound of a car outside. Everyone stopped what they were doing and watched the commotion.

A car pulled up in the open space of the gas station, and a group of young people got out. They were all tall and imposing, with an air of authority and confidence.

The four women who got off the bus after her each had their own unique charm. The first one to get off was a stunningly beautiful woman who was about 1.7 meters tall. Even her black sportswear couldn't hide her sophisticated and mature aura.

Her long legs quickly caught up with the men in front of her, her phoenix eyes calmly gazing ahead.

The three women walked together, one in front and the other two behind. The one in front wore a burgundy dress, had a good figure, and a haughty expression. She seemed slightly annoyed, shuffling along in her leather shoes, clearly enjoying the sun.

Two women followed behind. One wore a light yellow T-shirt and army green shorts; the other, slightly behind, wore a dark T-shirt and black capri pants. The woman in shorts had a sweet face, but seemed quite irritable from the heat and sweat. The woman in the dark T-shirt followed behind with her head slightly lowered, carrying a large backpack.

A group of people entered the hall and saw a group of people eating. Among them, a slightly thin man, about 175 cm tall, stepped forward and greeted them, saying, "Excuse me, everyone, we would like to rest here for a while before continuing our journey. We hope you can do us a favor."

This person was Shao Jie; he was the most active member of the group. One remained silent, one was indifferent, one was calm and didn't want to talk, one was honest but didn't bother to speak, and the rest were indifferent to whether they spoke or not. Only he was the most suitable; he was most adept at making connections, asking for help, and getting directions.

Whenever there's a need to interact with people, he's the only one who steps forward; no one else is involved, and everyone's gotten used to it.

They stopped to rest and inquire about the situation after seeing people moving around here.

Li Xiao and the others saw a group of people walk in and stop eating. They didn't know what these people were planning to do.

Seeing that they also wanted to rest there, I didn't say anything. This isn't a place for just anyone to come in. Saying hello would be polite, and besides, there were many people on their end, so it might not be appropriate to approach them directly.

It's better to avoid trouble.

Liu Zhigang quickly stood up and said to them, "Make yourselves at home, we're just taking a short break here." After saying that, he ignored them and went back to eating.

Shao Jie didn't say much, just a polite greeting. The place was spacious enough for everyone to use.

Seeing that everyone across the table was eating, and not wanting to disturb them, I led everyone to the other side to prepare for lunch.

The pot opposite them was still steaming, and you could smell the food. They only had dry rations on their side, which they found hard to swallow.

The group could only lower their heads and not look, biting hard at the cookies in their hands.

They are capable, but they don't have time to cook; they're always rushing. With the apocalypse having lasted so long, who knows how long they might have to wait to find the person they're looking for?

In order to find the person as quickly as possible, they didn't get a proper rest along the way, no wonder the women were unhappy.

Seeing that the people across from him had finished eating, Yu Yanbin gave Shao Jie a wink. Shao Jie was speechless. How come it was his job to find someone? Didn't they know he was the team leader?

He inwardly grumbled, but his body still obediently got up and left. The tall man sitting next to him watched with amusement; he was used to it.

As they were packing up their equipment, the captain saw the man who had asked the question earlier had returned. He got up and went over to ask what was wrong.

Shao Jie didn't beat around the bush, offered him a cigarette, and asked directly, "Are you locals?"

Liu Zhigang took it in surprise, then shook his head, "No, we were just passing by." Cigarettes and alcohol are scarce these days; seeing someone casually pull out a pack, they must be quite wealthy and not to be underestimated.

"Where did you come from? Were you all together?"

"Yes, we're all from the same place," Liu Zhigang said truthfully.

"Oh, so you're from the same place?" Seeing Liu Zhigang looking at him suspiciously, he quickly added with a smile, "Well, we were planning to go to Mingcheng to find someone and wanted to find out what the situation was like there. We came over to ask you when we saw you."
