"Big brother, you don't mean to want me to marry into a family, do you?" The quick-witted Cheng Shaolin guessed what was going on and said casually.
"...I'm doing this for your own good."
Cheng Shaolin's anger subsided and he chuckled, "Oh, for my own good? Then I'll do you a favor and introduce you to someone too."
Chen Shaoheng was stunned. "I'm married!"
"Hehe, I'm married too. It's okay, you can get divorced."
"Cheng Shaolin! How dare you speak like that?" Yu Danxia was furious. He was openly finding another woman for her husband right in front of her. Did he think she was dead?
"What, you're introducing me to women in front of my wife? What's wrong with me showing some concern for my older brother?"
"You?!" Yu Danxia was furious, glaring angrily at Cheng Shaolin. Noticing the strange look in Cheng Shaolin's eyes, she turned and glared fiercely at Li Xiao.
Li Xiao looked at her with a cold smile.
What, are you picking the softest persimmon?
"What are you looking at?" Yu Danxia wouldn't be so polite to this brat who made everyone unhappy.
"Look at you, why are you so eager to pimp?"
"You brat, how can you talk like that? You have no manners at all."
Zhu Min was furious at Li Xiao's sharp tongue.
It's all because of this girl; without her, nothing would have happened.
"Politeness depends on the person. If someone is impolite to me, why should I be polite?"
Li Xiao wouldn't tolerate it; they weren't even related to her.
Li Xiao held He Yunzhen's hand and said with a smile, "Auntie, how about you live with us?"
After watching for so long, it seems that He Yunzhen and Cheng Feiyue are not doing very well.
That family showed no respect for the two of them being in a long-distance relationship.
Li Xiao thought, since they don't respect me, I'll just take them with me.
This was something I had discussed with Cheng Shaolin beforehand.
I was originally planning to give the couple some nourishing food, but it's not easy to do so in the Cheng family.
Since things have already turned sour, we might as well leave together.
That would be even better; I don't want to let these arrogant people benefit from this.
He Yunzhen's eyes lit up when she heard Li Xiao say that, but then dimmed again.
"Pshaw, what nonsense are you talking about?" Yu Danxia found it quite amusing.
Li Xiao remained unmoved, still looking at He Yunzhen.
"Auntie, wouldn't it be nice if you lived with me? My brother would be there too."
He Yunzhen looked at her husband, secretly hoping that her goddaughter and son would be together.
This family doesn't respect them at all, so why should they get in their way?
Cheng Feiyue was also tempted, as he had always been suppressed. Now that his son was back, he didn't want his son to be suppressed and used as well.
Being used is fine, but he doesn't want to be controlled by that family. He says it's for the sake of the whole family, but frankly, it's all for their family.
They get no benefit from their own family's marriage, and now they're even using it as a bargaining chip for their son's marriage. That's really going too far.
He feared that soon his son would also be trapped, which would be truly hopeless.
He pondered for a while, as if he had made up his mind, and then looked up at the old man.
“Dad, Shaolin is back now. I was thinking that Yunzhen and I wouldn’t be of much help anyway, so let’s go to Shaolin’s place. His friends are all young kids, and they don’t think things through very well. If we go, we can help take care of things. Besides, we’ve been separated from Shaolin for so long, and we want to spend more time with him. Don’t worry, this is still our home, and we won’t forget it.”
The old man stared intently at his second son, trying to discern something from his eyes.
He knew in his heart that he wasn't senile and could still see things clearly.
He could tell what kind of situation his second son's family was in this household. Wanting to maintain harmony and unity within the family, he didn't say much.
It seems that my second son's family harbors resentment.
Sigh, I made a mistake back then, and there's nothing I can do to change it now.
Fine, I'll grant your wish.
If things continue like this, there will be even more conflicts.
We were already on the verge of a complete falling out, why bother?
I feel guilty towards this son, but that's enough.
"Have you made up your mind?"
"Yes, Dad."
"Wait a minute, second brother. You think I can't tolerate you now that you've come here? Your actions are putting me in a difficult position."
"What's wrong with you? I'm with my son, it's not like we're not coming back, what's the problem?"
That's not how it works.
Cheng Feihong was about to say something when the old man interrupted him.
“Eldest son, the second son wants to live with his son, and no one has the right to stop him. That’s his choice. Besides, he doesn’t owe anyone anything.”
Cheng Feihong was stunned; he hadn't expected his father to say that. He was speechless for a moment, frozen in place.
Cheng Feiyue was overjoyed that his decision had received his father's support, and the tug-of-war he had prepared for had been rendered useless.
"Thank you, Dad."
The old man waved his hand, but still said a few more words. "This is your home, don't let outsiders take advantage of it."
Cheng Feiyue understood his father's meaning and nodded heavily.
"I understand, the surname is Cheng, I won't forget."
Hearing this, the old man leaned back on the sofa. "That's good. Now that Shaolin is back, we should celebrate. How about we have lunch at home today? Consider it a celebration of Shaolin's safe return."
"Okay." Cheng Feiyue and He Yunzhen both nodded in agreement.
Cheng Shaolin had no objection and looked at Li Xiao.
Li Xiao understood what his look meant; he was just telling her to be patient.
For the sake of your aunt and uncle, why not put up with it for a while?
