"What's wrong? Are you okay?"
Li Xiao hugged him and gently patted his back.
"It's alright, Xiaoxiao. No matter what, I won't let you suffer any injustice."
Cheng Shaolin's cheek was close to Li Xiao's ear, and his slightly tired voice reached Li Xiao's ears.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
Li Xiao guessed that Cheng Shaolin might have encountered something while out today, and that he seemed a bit off.
After a long pause, Cheng Shaolin finally said, "It's nothing."
Li Xiao asked softly, "Are you unhappy?"
Cheng Shaolin held Li Xiao in his arms, and the unhappiness he felt from what had happened there seemed to be gradually dissipating.
"Um."
Clearly sensing that Cheng Shaolin was in a bad mood, Li Xiao could only comfort him, "Then don't go there again."
Cheng Shaolin smiled silently. "Okay, then. I won't go anymore."
Seeing how down he was, Li Xiao wondered what was wrong with him today, and Cheng Shaolin didn't say anything either.
After thinking for a moment, Li Xiao asked, "Is something wrong? Can you tell me? If you're in a bad mood, you can tell me."
Cheng Shaolin originally didn't plan to tell Li Xiao about these bad things, but after the hug just now, he finally decided to tell her anyway.
Looking into Li Xiaoming's bright eyes, Cheng Shaolin pulled her to sit down on the edge of the bed.
She sat down on the edge of the bed with her.
"Tell me, what's wrong that's making you so upset?"
Looking at the girl in front of him, who was full of concern, Cheng Shaolin felt all the coldness in his heart had vanished.
"It's nothing, you should have noticed it that day."
All Li Xiao could do was hold his hand and comfort him.
"I didn't expect them to be so reckless. The apocalypse has changed a lot."
Cheng Shaolin is a wise and composed person, and he has never looked so vulnerable as he does now.
"The end times will change many things, but that's not a reason. It's just that the nature of things is what it is."
Cheng Shaolin's eyelashes trembled, but he did not refute Li Xiao's statement.
"What you say makes sense. But I can't accept it."
"You don't have to accept it. We'll ignore them. Haven't we always relied on ourselves?"
Cheng Shaolin laughed, "Yes, you're right. We've always relied on ourselves and haven't needed anyone's help."
Li Xiao laughed and said, "That's right, you don't need to be like that. We've been through thick and thin, what's there to be afraid of? It doesn't matter what they say, things will work themselves out, we're not afraid of trouble."
Cheng Shaolin burst out laughing.
"Yes, we are not afraid of trouble."
The gloom in my heart has completely disappeared.
Looking at Li Xiao's face, Cheng Shaolin felt that any bad thing could be resolved.
His eyes were now filled with Li Xiao's warm smile and her big, watery eyes.
A tender feeling welled up in my heart, spreading and rippled within my chest.
He grabbed Li Xiao's hand and pulled her into his arms.
Li Xiao was taken aback at first, blinking as she looked at Cheng Shaolin.
With a proud smile, Cheng Shaolin slowly kissed Li Xiao's forehead.
He loosened his grip slightly, and seeing that Li Xiao was still staring at him with her eyes open, Cheng Shaolin quickly found it amusing.
"Close your eyes."
Because it happened so quickly, Li Xiao hadn't even had time to react, and when she heard what Cheng Shaolin said, her cheeks instantly turned red.
Looking at her blushing face, Cheng Shaolin gently stroked it.
Li Xiao shyly closed her eyes, followed by the soft touch on her lips and a pounding heartbeat...
Cheng Feiyue and He Yunzhen were talking in the living room, about what happened at the Cheng family villa earlier that day.
"Sigh, I never thought it would turn out like this."
Seeing her husband's distress, He Yunzhen could only offer comfort.
"It's a good thing we got out. If we were still at home, even Shaolin might have gotten caught. Don't worry about it anymore, it has nothing to do with us."
Looking at his wife, Cheng Feiyue felt a pang of sadness.
His older brother's family never treated him like a younger brother, nor did they treat his own family as relatives.
Aside from being useful, they have no family ties whatsoever.
Oh dear, how could this happen?
Seeing the sorrow in his eyes, He Yunzhen sat down next to him on the sofa, held his hands and said, "Thinking so much is useless. Look, they don't care, so why should you? The children have seen through everything, so why do you still think so much? Like Shaolin said, just go visit the old man when you have time."
"I know, I just haven't quite gotten used to it yet. I'm fine."
“Well, but there’s one thing,” He Yunzhen said, frowning, “We can’t let them know about Xiaoxiao.”
Cheng Feiyue looked up at her, and seemed to realize something.
"Yes, you're right. We can't let them know this; it won't do them any good if they do."
"Yeah, we shouldn't go back there as often as possible. We don't depend on them for a living."
Sensing the frustration in his wife's words, Cheng Feiyue knew that He Yunzhen had not been happy at the Cheng family villa.
"Okay, I understand. Except for visiting the old man, it's best not to go back."
That's it.
The two chatted away, their affection for each other evident in the room.
Cheng Shaolin held Li Xiao in his arms and talked about what had happened that day.
I told Li Xiao the gist of it, and it seemed like I felt much better after saying it.
"Brother, do you think they threatened you?"
Li Xiao leaned against Cheng Shaolin's chest and looked up at him.
"Yes, that's what they mean."
Li Xiao sneered, "What, does your family hold a lot of influence in the base?"
