Chapter 40 Discussion

In the blink of an eye, the sun slowly withdrew its light, and darkness began to quietly sweep in.

Li Xiao had already prepared dinner, and they were sitting together sharing this rare treat.

Rice, stir-fried potato slices with onions, braised dried vegetables with dried chili peppers, and finally a big pot of mung bean soup—a summer essential. I just happened to cook it today; I might not be able to drink it again when everyone is together.

Watching the people opposite him eat and drink so contentedly, Shao Jie felt a pang of longing. Looking at the dry rations in his hand, he couldn't bring himself to eat.

Yu Yanbin was speechless when he saw his ridiculous appearance. "If you don't want to eat, then don't eat."

"No, it's just that I haven't eaten in a long time, I really miss it." Shao Jie looked dejected, but he had no choice but to gnaw on the biscuit in his hand.

"You can go to the other side and ask them to take you in. Then you'll have something to eat." Zhou Lingyu was afraid of Yu Yanbin and Cheng Shaolin, but not Shao Jie. She was a typical bully who preyed on the weak.

Everyone around her was looking at her, and she realized she had said something wrong. But she wouldn't back down; even with so many people staring at her, she continued eating her cookies.

Even eating cookies every day gets boring. Who doesn't want to eat a proper meal? Everyone's craving something these days, but she wouldn't say it. She kept her head down, chewing the cookie in her mouth, not looking at anyone else. The lingering aroma of onions and potatoes still filled her nostrils, incredibly enticing.

It's infuriating! Why make it smell so good? Do you want everyone to know you're cooking? It's so annoying.

Saliva kept flowing from my mouth, and the biscuit in my mouth became even drier, making it impossible to swallow.

Annoyed, she put away the cookies in her hand, turned around, and lay back down in her spot. She dared not throw away the unfinished cookies; at this moment, throwing away food would get her beaten to death.

Food is so precious; not a single grain should be wasted. Even if you don't finish it, you should save it for later. Some people don't even have any food to eat.

She wasn't full, but she couldn't swallow any more. The more she ate, the more she hated those people, especially Li Xiao and Tian Tian.

...

While everyone on this side is envious of the other side being able to eat a hot meal, here they are seriously discussing something.

Conflicts are increasing, and although no one says it out loud, everyone has their own thoughts on the matter.

Finally, team leader Liu Zhigang spoke up, "I'm sure you've all guessed it, so let's get straight to the point. Since we're not getting along well, we'll have to separate. It's better for everyone this way." Liu Zhigang was also in a dilemma; he didn't want them to separate, as they had gotten along quite well for so long.

"Let's all speak our minds and see what the best and most appropriate way to handle this is." Liu Zhigang looked at everyone, waiting to see what would happen, feeling quite uneasy.

"There's nothing to say. Since we can't get along, breaking up is inevitable. We'll just have to see what happens in the end."

Everyone felt uncomfortable and no one rushed to speak.

Li Xiao knew she would leave eventually, so it didn't matter whether she said it sooner or later. She simply said to Li Zhigang, "Captain, I'm leaving."

Even though I knew things would turn out this way for Li Xiao, I still feel reluctant to let her go.

This girl has been working very hard since joining the team. She works hard killing zombies and doing all the work; she's very capable.

That's just how it is; hardworking and diligent people are liked wherever they go.

Aunt Zhang looked reluctant to part with him, and opened her mouth to call out, "Xiaoxiao, you..." but she couldn't finish the sentence.

Li Xiao smiled and comforted her, "Aunt Zhang, we have the same goal, and we will still meet in Beijing in the future. It's not like we won't see each other again."

Meng Yang chimed in, "That's right, we'll meet again eventually. We're all going to the same place, we just won't travel together."

Uncle Li put his arm around Aunt Zhang's shoulder and advised, "If you can't get along, it's better to separate. It's only natural. It's not a big deal. Like Xiaoxiao said, you're both going to Beijing, you're bound to run into each other eventually."

Aunt Zhang nodded, feeling a little better.

Just then, a faint voice came from the side, "It's only after she came that things started to go wrong. Before she came, everything was fine."

You know who it is without even looking.

Tian Tian turned her head away angrily, "You, you're just making trouble for yourself, and you're criticizing others."

Chen Yunhua seemed startled, shifting back slightly and muttering under her breath, "I didn't say anything." She looked wronged, as if she had been bullied.

Everyone was speechless and helpless looking at her like this.

Li Xiao had overheard this too, but didn't want to argue with such a person. She simply said, "I said I would leave, and I will leave on my own. No need for whining. If you have the guts, say it out loud." After saying that, she gave him a disdainful glance. Chen Yunhua saw Li Xiao's gaze, her heart skipped a beat, and she stiffened her neck and turned to the side.

Li Xiao didn't say anything more. She had already made up her mind; they would part ways tomorrow. She said goodbye and returned to her seat to rest, ignoring everything else.

The others knew she was angry, so they didn't try to stop her and let her go to rest.

Seeing Chen Yunhua's shameless and refusing-to-admit-it attitude, Tian Tian snorted, turned her head, and said to Li Zhigang, "Captain, I'm going with Xiaoxiao tomorrow. I won't be with the others. Thank you all for taking care of me." After saying that, she bowed to Liu Zhigang and the others and ran away.

The rest of the group fell silent, knowing this would be the outcome. They continued discussing without saying anything. Meng Yang looked at Liu Zhigang and said apologetically, "Captain, I'm leaving too. I won't be with you."

Liu Zhigang looked at him in surprise, "Why are you leaving too?"

Meng Yang just chuckled lightly, "If we don't get along, we'll break up."

The others were all surprised; none of them had expected this.
