Chapter 72 Shocking

Cheng Shaolin was shocked once again.

Did I mishear? Or did Xiaoxiao say something wrong?

It sounds like I've heard something incredible.

Cheng Shaolin was more and more shocked each time, while Li Xiao found it amusing.

They casually tossed out a chair and put it away, as if they were in a company and had seen a nice executive chair and put it away.

Cheng Shaolin's eyes widened even more when he saw the chair suddenly appear out of nowhere. His heart almost stopped.

There have been so many surprises today that I'm almost numb to them.

My eyes are bigger than usual, and my eyelids are sore from being pulled.

"Have a seat." Another table was set out, on which were placed pickled fish, braised pork, cucumber salad, spicy crayfish, ice-cold beer, half a watermelon, and a strawberry milkshake in her hand.

Li Xiao scooped up her milkshake with a carefree air, her eyes squinting happily.

Cheng Shaolin stared wide-eyed, as if frozen in place, at what had suddenly appeared before him…

Cheng Shaolin: What did I just see?!

My heart skipped a beat.

Li Xiao ignored him and let him look, while she enjoyed her iced drink. It was so delicious.

Is this all true?

Cheng Shaolin stood frozen, completely unable to react, staring blankly at Li Xiao, who was leisurely eating ice cream.

He now realizes that Li Xiao might be a fairy.

Only gods can conjure things.

Why did he suddenly feel so unreal? Gods and fairies all live in heaven. Could Xiaoxiao be...?

He suddenly stepped forward and hugged Li Xiao, startling her.

Is he so terrified that he's gone mad?

Li Xiao tried to break free from him, but Cheng Shaolin held her too tightly, and it took a lot of effort for her to break free.

"Hey, what's wrong with you? Are you crazy? You're hurting me."

Seeing Li Xiao's aggrieved expression, Cheng Shaolin realized that he had been too rash just now.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I hurt you just now." Cheng Shaolin looked at Li Xiao, who was still alive and well in front of him. He had felt her warm body when he held her in his arms.

He was too nervous, phew~

I breathed a sigh of relief. "Xiaoxiao, what's this?"

Li Xiao didn't look at him, her chin resting on the table. "Aren't you going to eat?"

Cheng Shaolin was so shocked that he forgot what was on the table.

Now, when I focus my attention on the table, my eyes are immediately glued to it...

It's been so long since I've seen such delicious food; it feels like a century has passed. I can't even remember what it tastes like anymore.

In fact, in just over two months, people's memories seem to have already forgotten the beautiful moments of the past.

Cheng Shaolin stared blankly at the dishes on the table, and Li Xiao gestured for him to eat quickly.

You won't know if it's real until you taste it.

Cheng Shaolin picked up his chopsticks and took out a piece of fish.

The white fish slices, still trembling on the chopsticks, were covered with a few sesame seeds, and some broth was dripping down.

What was once a very ordinary dish is now considered a luxury.

Cheng Shaolin carefully put the fish slice into his mouth and chewed slowly.

The delicate and smooth texture of the fish, along with its sour, spicy, salty, and savory flavor, almost brought tears to Cheng Shaolin's eyes.

Looking at the still-steaming dishes, Cheng Shaolin felt like he was dreaming.

Suppressing my surging emotions, I picked up another piece of braised pork with my chopsticks. Its vibrant red color and glistening, oily texture made it irresistible. I couldn't help but pop it into my mouth. It was that long-lost taste, sweet but not cloying...

Cheng Shaolin didn't say anything. Not knowing what to say, he could only bury his head and pick up the food.

Li Xiao gave him a bowl of rice and told him to eat it with the rice.

Still steaming hot, each grain of rice glistening—such a rare treat these days.

He was starving; he hadn't even remembered being hungry earlier. Now, seeing all this, how could he possibly resist?

Before long, Cheng Shaolin began to wolf down his food.

After rummaging through the food for a while, and having gone through half of it, I realized that Li Xiao hadn't eaten a single bite.

Cheng Shaolin immediately felt embarrassed and hurriedly stopped, wanting to let Li Xiao eat.

Now, Cheng Shaolin felt his face burning as he was being forced to eat Li Xiao's leftovers.

Li Xiao simply shook her head, leaving Cheng Shaolin feeling awkward.

He thought Li Xiao was disgusted by what he had left over and didn't know what to do.

Li Xiao noticed his embarrassment and smiled.

"You eat, I don't want any. I'm already full."

I felt guilty after hearing the first half of the sentence, but I relaxed after hearing the second half.

Fortunately, I can only blame myself for not having eaten such delicious food in so long that I forgot about everything else and wolfed down my food.

"Eat quickly, you have to finish it all."

Cheng Shaolin then picked up his bowl again and began devouring the dishes on the table.

Cheng Shaolin hadn't been drinking. Now that he was out, he needed to stay sober at all times; that was basic common sense.

He left the lobster and beer untouched, but ate everything else, even almost finishing the fish soup with rice.

Looking at the empty table, Li Xiao was also impressed. They really had huge appetites.

The three dishes were very generous in portion, and they also served him three large bowls of rice, which he finished completely.

Looking at his still flat stomach, Li Xiao admired him.

I don't feel full at all.

Cheng Shaolin looked at Li Xiao, who was staring at her stomach, and he immediately understood.

Sit up straight and tidy up the plates and bowls on the table.

All that's left is a plate of bright red crayfish and beer, oh, and half a watermelon.

The watermelon still had a slight chill in it.

Seeing that he had finished eating, Li Xiao sat up and started picking at the crayfish on the plate.

This food is so delicious, and you won't eat it? If you won't eat it, I will.

She opened a beer and poured herself a glass.
