Chapter 163 Someone is coming

The streets were overgrown with vegetation, with only a few rooftops visible.

Various unidentified plants were everywhere, only now they were many times larger than before.

It's hard to find a familiar shadow in my memory. Maybe the leaves look similar, but upon closer inspection, something seems off.

Li Xiao found it difficult to say anything when faced with these branches and vines.

It wasn't something she was familiar with, and she didn't want to spend any more time getting to know it again; there was no need for that.

These various plants climbing the rooftops and walls can no longer be treated with our previous understanding. Who knows what kind of scene lies beneath their harmless exterior?

Perhaps it's fangs that devour human flesh and blood, or perhaps it's a huge tendon that preys on anyone it sees.

They didn't want to see it; these were like mutated monsters, there was nothing they couldn't imagine, only things you didn't want to think about.

Before long, we arrived at the place that had been cleaned up yesterday.

Apart from that cactus, there are no other major threats in this area.

Without wasting any time, Cheng Shaolin burned the houses one by one, Yu Yanbin used a few throwing knives to cut off the roots, and Meng Yang and Qiu Fengyu used a few vines to pull down the vines that were wrapped around the walls and roofs.

If they lived here permanently, this would be excellent firewood. But they didn't need it; they just piled it up in each house's yard.

Just as everyone was working enthusiastically, Li Xiao noticed someone approaching on the map.

"Someone's coming, they're heading this way."

The busy crowd stopped upon hearing this. "What? Someone's here?"

Li Xiao nodded firmly: "Yes, there are more than a dozen people."

Yu Yanbin straightened up and looked at the end of the street.

They'd never seen anyone come here before, since they'd been in the town for so long. Why were there people here today?

"Let's get started and see what kind of people they are later."

Everyone was busy with their work and didn't really care who the visitors were or how many people came.

After cleaning one house, go in and collect everything you can before moving on to the next.

Before the two houses had been cleared, a group of people walked out from the end of the street.

Yu Yanbin waved his hand, stopping everyone from continuing the cleanup. Everyone put down what they were doing; just as Li Xiao had said, there were more than a dozen people. To be precise, there were eleven.

The man in the lead was about 1.75 meters tall, with a burly build, short hair, and a dark complexion.

The others were all pretty much the same; their complexions were all dark, a result of sun exposure.

It's rare to see people with fair skin these days; it's already quite good if they're not tanned.

The leader spoke before even getting close.

"Hey, what are you guys doing here?"

Yu Yanbin's expression was indifferent. "What's wrong? Is something the problem?"

"Wow, you guys are really brave to stay here."

Yu Yanbin shrugged. "We need to make a living. Where else can we go if we don't stay here?"

The leader sighed, "Ah, this world is like this. Well, other places have been searched, only the remote areas haven't been reached yet. Everyone's just trying to survive."

"Yes, nobody comes here, so we can collect more."

"How dare you come here?" The leader tilted his head slightly and glanced at them.

Yu Yanbin was puzzled by the newcomer's tone. "What's wrong?"

"Oh, yesterday..."

After listening to the visitor for a long time, everyone finally understood what was going on.

It's still because of yesterday's incident. There was fire and smoke, and the smoke was so thick that people in the city still saw it.

Sure enough, someone noticed the commotion and reported it. Today, they sent people to investigate, and that's when they encountered Yu Yanbin and his group.

Have you seen anyone else here?

Yu Yanbin shook his head. "No, only our team is here."

"So it's you guys. You're really bold. How dare you linger here with just a few of you? Aren't you afraid?"

The newcomer clicked his tongue a few times, astonished by the group's audacity.

"No, it's not about working hard to make a living."

The leader nodded in agreement, saying it wasn't because of the stutter.

Yu Yanbin and his group had no idea why these people had come today. After all this time, they still hadn't figured out their purpose. They also didn't want to continue this frivolous chatter.

"What brings you all here today?"

When the visitor heard Yu Yanbin ask this question, he didn't try to hide anything and replied casually, "It's nothing serious, I just came here to see what's going on. To see if there's a group here making such a fuss."

They waved their hands as they spoke, relieved to know that there was a team there.

The worst-case scenario is that you come all this way and see nothing; then things could get complicated.

"Oh, we did that yesterday. Sorry, we didn't expect it to make such a big commotion, and that you could see it from so far away."

Yu Yanbin quickly apologized.

"It's alright, it's alright. We just came to check and make sure there's no danger. You guys need to be careful here too, it's very dangerous here, no team dares to come here."

Yu Yanbin found it strange; this place wasn't as scary as they described.

"Oh, what does that mean?"

The newcomer's expression immediately changed, becoming somewhat unnatural. His already dark cheeks showed no other color, otherwise a blush would have been visible on his sweat-covered face.

"Uh, it's nothing. Just be careful if you're staying here." He then looked around for a moment.

Upon hearing this answer, Yu Yanbin and the others all looked displeased.

I really don't know what these people are doing here.

The group exchanged glances, then quickly looked at the people coming from the opposite direction.

The men behind the man opposite seemed completely unconcerned, glancing in their direction briefly before turning away. They ignored their captain's words entirely.

"Oh, I see."

"Okay, we've come to check this out. Once we're sure everything's alright, we can go back and report."

Yu Yanbin nodded knowingly, it seemed he was just there to confirm what was going on, nothing more.

"So what's the result for you now?"

"Now that we know there's a team here, we can rest assured for the time being." As he spoke, he glanced at them meaningfully.

Yu Yanbin nodded as if he understood.

"Yes, thank you. We understand, otherwise you wouldn't have seen the commotion here."

Upon hearing this, the other person gave a slight smile and then nodded distantly.

That is indeed the case.

"Okay, now that we've figured it out, we can call it a day. Also, keep things quiet. If anything happens, no one will come over."

As the man was about to leave, he turned back and said this in a tone that was quite unpleasant.

Yu Yanbin didn't even bother to give a perfunctory reply, and simply raised his chin and nodded slightly.
