"Shao Lin is back?" This was the old man, Cheng Zhaonian, who was very surprised and delighted.
Cheng Feihong and Chen Shaoheng exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with inscrutable expressions.
Zhu Min and her daughter-in-law Yu Danxia didn't react much, as if they didn't care much.
The last child sitting in the chair next to Yu Danxia seemed the most at ease, unaffected by anything, and ate with great relish.
Seeing that the eggs in the plate in front of him were gone, he grumbled in dissatisfaction.
"I want to eat eggs and meat."
Zhu Min and Yu Danxia quickly looked at Cheng Wenhao with smiles.
"Okay, okay."
...
He Yunzhen rushed out the door, dashing to the gate like a gust of wind. Through the crack in the gate, she saw a familiar face outside. He Yunzhen's eyes welled up with tears, which streamed down her face.
Cheng Feiyue, who was running after He Yunzhen, was a step slower.
Seeing his wife sobbing, Cheng Feiyue understood a bit and went to open the villa door first.
"Dad, Mom."
Seeing his parents' tears streaming down their faces, Cheng Shaolin also choked up with emotion.
"Why."
"Shao Lin".
"Hello, Uncle and Aunt." Li Xiao knew that these two were Cheng Shaolin's parents, so she greeted them as well.
"Xiaoxiao?"
"Um."
He Yunzhen, who was holding her son, let go of him and looked at Li Xiaolai.
"Xiaoxiao, it's alright." He Yunzhen hugged Li Xiao and cried again.
Cheng Feiyue, standing next to him, was in no better shape; his eyes were also red-rimmed.
"Come on, let's go home. Come on in."
Cheng Feiyue paused for a moment, then happily called for Cheng Shaolin to follow.
They're finally back.
"Um."
"How's things at home?" Cheng Shaolin asked.
"Everything is fine at home," Cheng Feiyue replied.
Cheng Shaolin nodded, understanding.
Li Xiao looked at Cheng Shaolin, who returned a smile.
"It's okay, I'm here."
Li Xiao smiled and said, "Mm."
Seeing the situation of the two, there was nothing that He Yunzhen and Cheng Feiyue didn't understand.
Now I'm even happier.
Once inside, the people from the restaurant were already waiting in the living room.
Upon seeing the old man sitting in the center, Cheng Shaolin quickly called out, "Grandpa."
Looking at the people sitting next to him, Cheng Shaolin called out in turn: "Uncle, Aunt, Brother, Sister-in-law."
"Good, it's good that you're back."
The old man was genuinely happy and invited Cheng Shaolin to sit down next to him.
Cheng Shaolin then pulled Li Xiao over and said to his grandfather, "Grandpa, this is Xiao Xiao, do you remember her?"
The old man was really angry about what his grandson had done and about how his son had arranged things for him.
At this point, she actually sent her only son out to find someone, completely disregarding his safety. She was incredibly stupid.
"Oh, Xiaoxiao." Seeing the smile on the old man's face, Li Xiao lowered her eyelashes, concealing all the thoughts in her eyes.
Soon after, she smiled and said, "Hello, Grandpa."
In the blink of an eye, it seemed as if nothing had happened.
"well."
The old man pulled Cheng Shaolin to sit beside him and scolded him for running away when the situation was so bad.
Cheng Shaolin showed no sign of anything amiss, and said to his grandfather with a smile, "I'm confident that nothing will happen."
The old man didn't say anything after hearing this, he just nodded.
"Shao Lin, you must have had a tough journey. I'm so happy to see you back."
"Yes, the roads were a bit rough. But thankfully, everything's been resolved."
Looking at his uncle and cousin sitting to the side, Cheng Shaolin said with a smile.
"Well, that's good, that's good." Cheng Feihong smiled, but upon closer inspection, the smile seemed rather perfunctory.
"Hey, Shaolin's back just in time, he can help me out."
Cheng Shaolin blinked and said with a smile, "I just got back and I don't know anything. Big brother is joking."
"It's alright, you're all back now, what's there to be afraid of not understanding?"
“Yes, we’re a family, we have to stay united,” the uncle chimed in, adding fuel to the fire.
The old man leaned back on the sofa, looking at his family enjoying themselves so happily, and was very pleased. He smiled as he looked at his descendants, thinking, "They've really got a worthy successor!"
Looking at this family, Li Xiao felt the atmosphere was strange.
It seemed both calm and unsettled.
He Yunzhen pulled Li Xiao to sit down on the side and looked at her again and again.
Li Xiao felt very uncomfortable under her gaze and asked cautiously, "Auntie, why are you looking at me?"
He Yunzhen's eyes were filled with tears, and her eyes were red.
"Yeah, it's nothing. It's all good, everything's alright," He Yunzhen said, patting Li Xiao's hand.
"Auntie, how are you all doing?"
He Yunzhen smiled and said, "We're doing fine, but you've had a tough time."
Li Xiao smiled and said, "Auntie, we had a good journey. Our companions were all reliable and very united. There were dangers along the way, but you wouldn't believe me if I said there weren't, would you?"
"You're right. It's never been safe out there. It's good that you're back."
"Um."
The two women spoke in hushed tones, listening to Cheng Shaolin's conversation.
"You're back today? Perfect timing, come home to stay." Chen Shaoheng said with a smile.
"No, I came back yesterday."
"Oh, you came back yesterday? Why didn't you come back?"
Even his uncle and aunt looked at him curiously.
"My companions were all exhausted, so they found a place to rest first. We found our way back today after finding out the location."
"Oh, oh." They all nodded, understanding.
"Then move back home, there are still rooms available."
Cheng Shaoheng continued to extend the invitation with a beaming smile.
But his parents didn't say anything, didn't try to stop him, and didn't say anything else.
