Yu Yanbin leaned back in his chair, frowning as he asked, "This superpowered dog is usable, isn't it?"
Cheng Shaolin wasn't sure either, "I don't know, maybe it's edible."
Everyone stopped and thought about this question.
Such a big dog, if you could eat it, how much meat would there be?
Food is scarce these days, so having this much meat means we can eat for a long time.
However, I've never heard of any superhuman animals being edible.
Whether it's safe to eat or not is still a question; no one can guarantee it.
Who knows what kind of monster might turn into after eating it?
My heart is pounding; I don't dare to try it. But if I could just try it, I'd know if it's safe to eat.
Li Xiao has things in her space that she can try, but she can't take them out; she's quite helpless about it.
We should try to find a method to do this.
"Is it alright if I leave it with you for now, Xiaoxiao?" Yu Yanbin asked.
"It's too hot now, it'll spoil quickly if left outside. We'll take it with us to the Qizhou base next time."
"Okay, it's fine, just put it in my space."
"Okay, let's bring it out another time. It's definitely not possible now."
Li Xiao nodded, indicating that she understood.
"Alright, everyone's tired after a long morning, go and rest now, we'll see what happens this afternoon."
Before long, under the intense heat, snoring gradually began to appear.
The scorching sunlight filtered through the curtains, leaving only a sliver of light, but the heat still lingered in the room.
Although the curtains were drawn, the temperature didn't drop at all.
Everyone who sleeps on the platform is soaked in sweat, but after so long, we've gotten used to it.
In the post-apocalyptic world, there's no such thing as obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness. Everything is filthy and messy, and everyone is drenched in sweat, so what kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder would there be? It's long gone to Java or been cured.
We can't worry about it too much now, let's just be a little careless.
Even if you're soaked, you still have to sleep. You're almost never dry. If you're going to be picky about these things, then you might as well not sleep at all.
Every day is like this. Li Xiao has long been used to this way of life. She is covered in sweat, but she still has to sleep. Without sleep, she won't have the energy to deal with things outside.
To survive, you have to get used to and endure everything.
Even old habits must be changed to adapt to changing circumstances.
Every day is the same: going out to collect supplies. We rest and eat lunch outside at noon, the food prepared the day before. We work a little later in the afternoon, then head back around 8 pm.
We learned from our mistakes and started to investigate first each day to minimize risks before setting off.
Collect in that direction for a few days, and when there's nothing left to collect, change direction.
This kind of life continued for half a month.
I gain something every day, more or less. With Li Xiao, things are very convenient now.
Li Xiao is now the team's darling, enjoying the highest level of treatment.
However, Li Xiao was indeed a great help. Besides storing the collected items in her spatial storage, she also had to keep a close eye on the map to prevent a repeat of the incident with the superpowered dog. The late discovery and delayed response almost caused incalculable losses.
Finally, those rocket launchers were left with the team, just in case.
If there are already such large mutant dogs, who knows, there might be other mutated animals in unknown places.
No one questioned how such a lethal weapon could exist.
The doubt was fleeting; it must have been something Cheng Shaolin did that time. If they already had machine guns, it wouldn't be surprising if they had rocket launchers too.
All I can say is, you guys are incredibly thick-skinned.
Cheng Shaolin, on the other hand, thought that Li Xiao had gotten it from that unit last time. He had the same idea: if they had a machine gun, it was right for them to have a rocket launcher too. There was nothing wrong with that.
Li Xiao thought she would have to ask them anyway, but none of them did. Well, that saved her the trouble.
All Li Xiao could say was, it's so reassuring to have you guys trust me like this.
The days passed by just like that, each day was fulfilling and exciting.
Li Xiao sat by the window, looking at the darkening sky, her brows furrowed.
"Xiaoxiao, what are you thinking about?" Tian Tian asked curiously as she leaned closer.
Li Xiao shook her head and sighed, "I don't know when this weather will end. The ground is so dry and cracked. Besides the mutated plants, what else can we see now?"
Tian Tian pursed her lips and sighed, "Well, who can argue with that? You can still see zombies that can't be killed by the sun."
Li Xiao chuckled. Indeed, there were still zombies outside who hadn't died from the sun.
Every day, besides the pale sunlight and the gray ground, there are only withered, pitch-black zombies.
"Life is just too hard," Tian Tian couldn't help but feel a little frustrated.
"Don't worry, there's always a way out for people." Meng Yang walked over from the side, and seeing the two girls looking so dejected, he couldn't bear it and tried to cheer them up.
"Uncle Meng, will there really be a better day?" Tian Tian's eyes widened slightly.
Meng Yang couldn't help but look out the window. It was already night, and apart from the occasional howls of zombies, it was actually quite quiet. "Yes, haven't you seen that since the red rain, humanity hasn't gone extinct? Are there still so many people alive?"
"There will always be room for maneuver; humanity won't be allowed to go extinct." In fact, even Meng Yang himself wasn't sure, but that was all he could say.
"That's true. We've left so much fire for humanity, it can't just disappear like this." Tian Tian suddenly became happy.
