Chapter 378 Does the Bodhisattva Care?

Cheng Shaolin felt it was nice to be able to have a meal with the old man.

He silently thanked Li Xiao with his eyes, and Li Xiao simply smiled at him.

In the end, the meeting ended badly due to differing philosophies and inability to reach a consensus.

The best outcome would be that the old man agreed to have dinner with them.

Cheng Shaolin knew that this might be the last meal he would have with his grandfather.

He wasn't feeling very well.

Li Xiao winked at Cheng Shaolin and then squeezed his hand.

Li Xiao's timely comfort gave him some temporary solace.

Having someone who understands you is more effective than any magic pill.

After saying goodbye to the old man, the family walked on their way home.

"Xiaoxiao, what were you thinking? Why did you suddenly think of that?"

Li Xiao shook Cheng Shaolin's hand and smiled at him.

"I didn't think about anything. I just thought that even if he can't live with us, it would be good for him to come to our place and get some nourishment."

Cheng Shaolin gazed deeply into her eyes.

"Thank you, Xiaoxiao. I'm so happy."

Li Xiao rolled her eyes at him, not in a very nice way, and casually uttered two words.

"Fool."

Cheng Shaolin laughed out loud, "Alright, alright, I'm the idiot, and you're the smart one."

"You're the egg."

"Okay, I'm an egg, and you're not an egg."

The two bickered and teased each other before happily returning home.

Behind them, Cheng Feiyue and his wife watched them joking and laughing, their affection evident.

"That's great."

Cheng Feiyue nodded, "Yes, children are kind-hearted."

"Don't be sad. When Dad comes, you can have a good talk with him."

Cheng Feiyue shook his head. "It's no use. Dad said he won't live with us, so he won't."

He Yunzhen could tell that her husband was in low spirits, so she could only comfort him.

"It's alright. Like Xiaoxiao said, we can give him some nourishment later, that would be good too."

Cheng Feiyue pursed his lips, closed his eyes, and nodded.

No matter how much you compensate, can it be better than living together?

Well, we can only rely on him now.

"Hey, you came back without eating again?"

Shao Jie stood at the door, watching them and smiling.

Xiao Peng pulled him aside, "What are you saying?"

"Okay, I was just saying."

"Shut up."

After watching Cheng Shaolin and his group enter the house, the others followed them inside.

"So? What did you say this time?" Yu Yanbin asked as soon as he sat down.

Cheng Shaolin lay back on the sofa, feeling really bad.

Seeing his expression, everyone understood what was going on.

They looked at each other, unsure of what to say.

"Same as before, nothing new," Li Xiao said, as she prepared tea for everyone.

Then they put melon seeds and candies on the table for them to eat and play with.

"Wow, there's such a good thing! We're in luck!"

“Absolutely, Xiaoxiao is a treasure trove.” Tian Tian picked up a fruit-flavored gummy candy and handed one to Qiu Fengyu next to her.

Qiu Fengyu took it, unwrapped the candy, and put it in her mouth.

"Mmm, delicious, so sweet."

A happy smile appeared on the usually aloof and mature woman's face, like spring flowers blooming after a snowfall, a sight to behold.

Meng Yang and Xiao Peng each took one and put it in their mouths to savor it.

Candy, which was readily available before the apocalypse and whom no one would have bothered to look at or eat, has now become a rare treasure.

Sweet things are extremely rare nowadays, let alone candy.

If this plate were taken out, it would probably be snatched up like crazy.

It seems that eating candy made me feel better.

The candy in Cheng Shaolin's mouth was put in by Li Xiao after she peeled off the wrapper.

A subtle sweetness filled my mouth, spreading down my throat and into my heart.

Drive the bitterness from your heart and chest, filling it with sweetness.

Everyone had a piece of candy in their mouth, and the room fell silent.

Eating candy now seems to have become a ritual, and people are afraid that even the slightest sound will disrupt this devout ceremony.

That's blasphemy.

…………

"Shao Lin, how's it going? Any results?"

Meng Yang asked.

"No, it's still the same. However, my grandfather is coming over for dinner the day after tomorrow."

"Oh, okay. The old man is coming, so we'd better prepare properly."

Shao Jie looked at Xiao Peng with excitement.

Upon hearing that Cheng Shaolin's grandfather was coming for dinner, Xiao Peng was eager to get started preparing.

"Hey, come on, it's not today."

Shao Jie quickly grabbed him, afraid that he was about to run away.

Seeing him like this, even Li Xiao laughed.

"It's still early, you'll be busy then."

Xiao Peng rubbed his hands together and chuckled sheepishly.

Looking at his companions and recalling what had happened not long ago, Cheng Shaolin felt a pang of bitterness in his heart.

It's ironic that they can't even compare to people they've known for less than a year.

Cheng Shaolin gave them a general account of what happened at the back of the Cheng family villa that day, so that everyone would have a general idea.

"You all need to be careful. I don't know what he's trying to do."

"Okay, we understand. You don't need to worry."

"Yeah, Brother Cheng, it's nothing. We've been through all sorts of things, so don't worry."

Seeing that everyone understood, Cheng Shaolin nodded.

"Is Grandpa coming the day after tomorrow? What should we do?"

Xiao Peng was still more interested in this.

"Don't do anything for you. Grandma only comes here for a meal. This depends on Xiaoxiao."
