Chapter 99 Thoughts

The three of them drove back to the supermarket quickly. Shao Jie had already seen them return and notified everyone to prepare to welcome them.

Looking at Yu Yanbin and Qiu Fengyu standing at the door, Li Xiao smiled.

"We're back." Li Xiao opened the car door and got out.

Yu Yanbin and Qiu Fengyu stepped forward. "Are you alright?" Yu Yanbin asked first.

"No, I'm fine," Li Xiao replied with a smile.

Yu Yanbin nodded and looked at Cheng Shaolin.

Cheng Shaolin nodded and smiled at him, "It's alright, the supplies over there are still okay. We found a vegetable market in the middle of a residential area and had a pretty good haul."

Upon hearing that it was a farmers' market, Yu Yanbin smiled and said happily, "A farmers' market, huh? That's great!"

Qiu Fengyu also had a slight smile on her face, looking at Li Xiao with a smile.

Li Xiao stepped forward and asked her, "Are you feeling better? If you're alright, don't get up. We can take it up; you don't need to run."

Qiu Fengyu felt a warm glow as she looked at Li Xiao's furrowed brows. "You're much better now. Get up and move around a bit. Lying down for too long will make your bones ache."

Li Xiao looked at her with disbelief, tilting her head suspiciously. It hasn't been that long, and lying down for too long makes your bones hurt; she's probably just bluffing.

Looking at the expression on Li Xiao's face, Qiu Fengyu wanted to laugh. Was her word really that unreliable?

"It's true. I just came down for a walk. I'm fine. Do I look like someone who lies?" Qiu Fengyu said with a smile.

"Okay, take good care of yourself." Li Xiao looked at her earnestly and said.

Qiu Fengyu nodded. Now she understood why Cheng Shaolin always liked to pat Li Xiao's head. She really did want to pat it; even she felt a little itchy.

Yu Yanbin and the others carried the bags into the supermarket without letting Li Xiao and Qiu Fengyu lift a finger, and let them chat behind them.

It's already 11 o'clock, time has passed. I was planning to go back at 10 o'clock, but I was busy and forgot.

The few people who stayed behind had already steamed the rice and cooked the dishes before they returned, so they could eat.

Looking at the bags that Li Xiao and the others brought back, they opened them and exclaimed, "Wow, this is good stuff!"

Everyone cheered, it seemed they would get to see some meat.

In the past, people complained that the food was too oily and strong-smelling, and they wanted to eat wild vegetables and vegetarian dishes. Now, it's hard to even find a bit of meat or oil.

It's not easy to get some lard, so of course everyone's happy.

Tian Tian came over with a smile and filled the basin with water, ready to wash the vegetables.

With more people, things move faster; the dishes were washed and ready to be cooked in no time.

There was a big pot of stewed preserved chicken and potatoes, a pot of stewed sausage and dried vegetables, and a big bowl of cold tofu skin salad.

Today's dishes are the best ever, with large portions and plenty of oil; I even chopped up three preserved chickens.

Xiao Peng served the food today, giving each person a large spoonful of each dish, leaving their mouths glistening with oil.

Drinking the now-cold porridge after the meal felt so refreshing.

I don't know if it's just my imagination, but with oil and moisture, my complexion looks better.

After eating and drinking my fill, I lay down to rest, feeling completely at ease.

Yu Yanbin sat to the side talking to Cheng Shaolin.

"The weather doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. Should we stay here for a few more days or go to the Qizhou base? Let's all share our thoughts."

Cheng Shaolin glanced around and said, "The weather is indeed too hot to continue our journey. As for whether we should rest here for a few more days, you can all consider it. I think it's worth staying a few more days."

The person sitting to the side, supposedly resting, was just lying down and didn't actually fall asleep.

As they talked about their future plans, everyone perked up and listened attentively.

“Whatever you say goes, I have no objection,” Xiao Peng said first.

“Yes, that’s what I thought too,” Shao Jie agreed.

The others nodded in agreement.

Seeing that everyone was in agreement, Yu Yanbin continued, "Since no one has any objections, let's talk about whether we should stay here."

He glanced around and continued, "Since everyone is injured and there's no rush, I suggest we stay here for two days. It will be safer to continue our journey once we've recovered."

Cheng Shaolin shared the same sentiment and nodded in agreement with Yu Yanbin's suggestion.

In fact, everyone understood this principle, and they all agreed as soon as Yu Yanbin said it.

"Okay, since everyone agrees, let's do it this way. Then we just need to arrange the night watch personnel."

The matter was settled, and everything was arranged, so everyone could rest and recover in peace.

Most of the zombies in the vicinity have been eliminated, and there are hardly any zombies around anymore.

Even though they only rested for one night, everyone looked much better.

It seems that the physical abilities of people with superpowers are far superior to those of ordinary people.

When the apocalypse came, most people were eliminated, but those who survived the initial mutations were much better equipped and more capable.

Especially for those with superpowers, their physical abilities and muscles have been comprehensively improved through their own physical evolution, not to mention their superpowers.

When faced with danger, the ability of people with superpowers to cope and react is unmatched by ordinary people.

So why do people like superpowers? Because people with superpowers have a greater chance of survival than ordinary people. Of course, people would choose someone with superpowers; having an extra chance to save their life is something everyone wants.

Nobody wants to die. Isn't it good to be alive?

Even in the apocalypse, if you can live, no one would want to die.

In the end, isn't it all about survival, striving and struggling for a bite to eat and a sip to drink?

In the apocalypse, I witnessed the full spectrum of human nature.

In the harshest environments, a person's true behavior is most directly revealed.

Is it to merely prolong life, to resort to any means necessary, to blame fate, or to forge ahead bravely?

Everyone makes different choices and has different ideas. How you want to live is your own decision, and others can't give you any advice.

In Li Xiao's view, a person should act like a human being. You can use your brain to survive, but you can't disregard order and harm other people's lives without cause.

She knew her idea was a bit naive; just because she didn't do it didn't mean others wouldn't.

She wants to live a good life and remain a human being, but she can't stop others from having different ideas.

She chuckled inwardly, realizing she hadn't learned her lesson. Having witnessed the cruelty of the apocalypse, how could she still be so ridiculous?

The apocalypse merely provides a harsh environment; ultimately, it is humanity itself that decides life and death.

Whether to choose to eke out a living or to struggle for survival is a decision made by humankind itself.

Li Xiao sighed inwardly, wondering why she had come here to experience this catastrophe.

They even gave me a way to save my life. Does that mean I have to do something?

She didn't know what to do, and now all she could do was try to live well.

I can't be like a saint, giving everything to everyone without expecting anything in return.

Everyone is selfish, isn't that right?

Not to mention, it's the apocalypse now.
