Chapter 302 Fierce Debate

Chapter 302 Fierce Debate

When Qiao Yu and Jiang Zhan arrived, Cheng Sinian and Luo Zhenzhen were still waiting on the mutant tree.

"What's the situation now?" Qiao Yu asked.

"The situation is unclear." Cheng Sinian curled his lips. "We just tried to test it out and caused a little disturbance, but they seem to have learned from their previous mistakes and have become smarter. They didn't fall for it."

Qiao Yu nodded, indicating that he understood. "Every failure makes you wiser."

"Achuan and the others haven't come yet?" Cheng Sinian looked into the distance and asked in a low voice.

"I've already sent the signal for them to go back." Qiao Yu gently moved his wrist. "When we retreat, the fewer people the better. So even if they are here, they can't help much. It's better for them to go back early and provide support."

Cheng Sinian nodded. "Shall we go in now?"

"What else are we waiting for?"

After Qiao Yu finished speaking, he raised his eyebrows slightly and took the lead to walk towards the outer wall of the factory.

Seeing this, Jiang Zhan and the other two followed closely.

Although the factory was heavily guarded, with Jiang Zhan's mental power, the four of them were able to move freely in the factory.

The most convenient thing is that this factory is open-air and you don’t need to open the gate, you can just climb over the wall to get in.

Qiao Yu dusted off his hands after landing and looked at Jiang Zhan beside him. "Zhan, have you found Professor Kang and Professor Shen's spiritual fluctuations?"

"Yeah." Jiang Zhan nodded and raised his chin towards a tin house in front of him on the right. "It's right there."

The iron house was also surrounded by guards, and even a fly could hardly fly in.

"Humph, I knew it! Professor Kang and Professor Shen are here!" Cheng Sinian snorted coldly, "Let's go and rescue them first, and then find a way to deal with these ungrateful people!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Cheng Sinian was about to walk towards the tin house, but unexpectedly, he was stopped by Jiang Zhan.

"Wait." Jiang Zhan stopped him in a low voice, "Don't act rashly, Ruan Weiqing is also in there."

"Listen to what he wants to do first."

The four of them ran all the way to the outside of the small tin house, walked around the guards outside, and looked inside through the window.

"Don't rush to give me an answer, both of you." Dr. Ruan's calm voice came from inside. "This is such a serious matter, you should think it over carefully before answering."

Professor Kang was a straightforward man. Upon hearing this, he snorted coldly, "I don't think that's necessary. No matter how much time you give us to consider, our answer will be the same."

Professor Shen didn't say anything, but the coldness on his face was very obvious when he looked at Dr. Ruan.

Dr. Ruan, instead of getting angry, burst into laughter. "You two are truly the pillars of our nation. Your fearlessness in life and death alone is enough to earn my admiration!"

"But have you ever considered that what I'm inviting you to do is for the advancement of humanity! It's for the greater good!"

"For justice?" Professor Kang sneered, "You really know how to flatter yourself!"

"You disregard human life and use living people for experiments, just to satisfy your own selfish research desires!"

"He's clearly a hypocritical, heartless hypocrite, yet he still dares to claim that he's working for the advancement of humanity?! If this can be considered righteousness, then what else is there in the world that's not righteous?!"

As soon as Professor Kang uttered these indignant words, Dr. Ruan, for some reason, felt offended. He immediately shouted, "Shut up!"

Dr. Ruan's eyes widened in anger, his chest heaving violently. "You may not agree with my actions, but you can never accuse me of acting out of selfish desire!"

"In this apocalyptic wasteland, alien species are rampant. If I hadn't single-handedly supported the entire A City Survivor Base, the survivors in the base would have been killed by alien species long ago!"

"After the apocalypse, I worked tirelessly, without sleep, to keep the survivor base in City A running! If I really only cared about myself, why would I bother to stay here?"

Dr. Ruan became more and more excited as he spoke, and his hands began to tremble slightly.

"The G City base is huge, and countless psychics are flocking to it. Researchers like you who have enjoyed high-quality resources from the beginning have no idea how difficult it is to operate a small base!"

"If it weren't for the mutant flowers I raised, the survivors here would have died of starvation and thirst long ago! If it weren't for the mutant drugs I researched, the survivor base in City A would have been razed to the ground by the alien attack!"

"What qualifications do you have to blame me?!"

After Dr. Ruan finished speaking, he sat down on the chair as if exhausted, his chest still heaving violently and his face slightly flushed.

Dr. Ruan's words caused Professor Kang, Professor Shen, and Qiao Yu outside the window to fall silent.

Although Dr. Ruan's approach was indeed inappropriate, they had to admit that he did have his own frustrations and difficulties.

They had also seen it in the base during the two days since they arrived in City A. The survivors weren't exactly doing well, but by comparison, they weren't doing too badly either.

But even so, they could not agree with Dr. Ruan's approach.

After all, the lives used to feed these survivors are all innocent.

Professor Kang seemed somewhat moved, a trace of pity flashed across his face, but he still sighed softly: "But no matter how difficult the world is, you shouldn't pave the way with human lives..."

"How can it be considered a righteous act to exchange human lives for other lives?"

Dr. Ruan seemed to have recovered somewhat, his chest heaving less heavily. He leaned on the armrests of his chair and stood up again, muttering, "Professor Kang, you're wrong."

“Those who achieve great things do not dwell on trivial matters. This is an eternal truth.”

"If we can sacrifice a portion of humanity in exchange for the survival and progress of all of humanity, isn't that a form of progress?!"

"Besides, these people are just ordinary people struggling to survive in the apocalypse. They have no special abilities and no ability to protect themselves. If my medicine can make them stronger and able to adapt to this world, wouldn't that be a good thing for them?"

"Nonsense!" Professor Kang slammed his fist on the table after listening to Dr. Ruan's argument. "If your drug was guaranteed to be successful, we wouldn't say anything. We might even consider you our role model!"

"But not only did your research fail, but who knows how many lives it will cost in the future! How can this be considered a good thing?!"

"Those survivors you tortured into inhumanity should have been able to live freely and with dignity. Even if it was difficult, at least there was hope! But what happens now? What wrong did they do? What obligation did they have to become victims of your research?!"

"I said, this is for the progress of all mankind!" Dr. Ruan became excited again.

"Being able to contribute to the progress of all mankind is their value! It is their honor!"
