Chapter 4 Vine
Qiao Yu was curious and wanted to see how big the vine could grow and whether it would bloom. So he tried to concentrate and continue to send energy to the jade seed.
As the energy flowed in, Qiao Yu felt her body grow heavier, until she felt dizzy and cold sweat broke out on her forehead. She didn't dare to continue. The vine had grown to half a person's height, and the bud at the top had grown to the size of an adult's fist. A small part of Qiao Yu's consciousness began to connect faintly with the vine, and she could even feel its intimacy and obedience towards her.
But Qiao Yu didn't have time to rejoice. She felt incredibly weak. She felt dizzy, her vision blurred, and she had trouble breathing. She felt like a seriously ill person who had managed to run a marathon. She felt so weak she felt like she was about to faint. She frantically grabbed the half-finished glass of fruit juice on the table and gulped it down.
Originally, she just instinctively wanted to drink some water to wake herself up, but unexpectedly, this fruit water seemed to have a miraculous effect on her fatigue at the moment. After drinking half a glass of water, Qiao Yu felt that her dizziness symptoms had eased. Although her condition was still very bad, it was not as serious as before.
To confirm, Qiao Yu poured a glass of fruit water and a glass of ordinary water and tried them separately. Sure enough, the fruit water could indeed replenish her energy. Although the effect was not very significant, it was incomparable to ordinary water.
Qiao Yu rested for a while and felt better, so he began to slowly transfer energy into the vine again, but this time it seemed as if he encountered a barrier and could not transfer any energy in. Qiao Yu thought that maybe this vine could only grow to this height.
Qiao Yu endured the dizziness, walked out the door, and tentatively placed the vine in the garden. As soon as it touched the ground, the base of the jade seed seemed to spontaneously grow roots, firmly rooted in the ground. The flower bud at the top instantly exploded, branching out into five slender vines, each with sharp barbs growing at the end.
Qiao Yu was startled.
But... it looked quite ferocious, but Qiao Yu reached out and tentatively touched the top branch vine, and the thin vine actually wrapped around her fingers as if acting coquettishly, and rubbed them gently.
Qiao Yu had never seen this kind of plant before, but since it was a seed from the Jade Tree space, it wasn't surprising. Qiao Yu squatted by the wall, studying it for a long time, her legs numb, and she couldn't find any other purpose for this vine besides being coquettish towards her. As the night grew deeper, Qiao Yu vaguely felt that her fever had returned. She didn't dare to fight anymore and gave up for the time being, planning to go back to bed and resume her research the next day.
She thought it would be another dreamless night, but in the middle of the night, Qiao Yu suddenly became alert. Half awake, she saw a black cat climb over the wall and into her yard. The moment it entered, the vine planted in the nursery suddenly stretched out, its five branches pointing straight in the direction of the black cat, a strange aiming gesture.
The black cat didn't seem to notice it and took two steps forward gently. However, the next second, the five vines rushed forward like arrows.
The black cat was startled and hurriedly climbed the wall to escape, but was still entangled by a vine on its right hind leg as it was about to leave. The sharp barbs pierced its flesh, causing it to let out a shrill cry, and then it was thrown out by the vine.
Qiao Yu was awakened by the cat's screams. Her fever had subsided, and her head wasn't dizzy anymore, just a slight discomfort. Qiao Yu didn't pay much attention to it, slipped on her slippers, and ran out. The vines had returned to their original state, but the bright red blood in the corner and the fading cat's meows reminded her that everything that had just happened was real, not a dream.
Qiao Yu suddenly realized that the vine's purpose was to provide both warning and interception. It was like an infrared surveillance camera with an automatic attack program. If something approached, the vine would immediately issue a warning. If the enemy continued to approach, it would attack directly and inform Qiao Yu through his consciousness, thus playing a defensive role.
Qiao Yu was so happy that he couldn't help but stretch out his hand to touch the leaves on the vine. But as soon as he raised his hand, he saw a sticky, gray-brown paste on his hand, like a mixture of grease and mud. It was even on his arms and had rubbed onto his pajamas. It smelled stinky.
Qiao Yu was startled and hurried to the bathroom. He took off his clothes in front of the mirror, but found that his whole body was covered with this thing and he smelled bad.
Qiao Yu had a slight obsession with cleanliness, so naturally, she couldn't stand her current "dignity" and immediately went to take a shower. Although this thing felt sticky to the touch, it was easy to wash off, and it flowed down with just a flush of water. After taking a shower, Qiao Yu didn't know if it was a psychological effect, but she felt that her skin seemed to have become more transparent, and even her ears and eyes had become much clearer. Qiao Yu recalled what she did before going to bed, and suddenly, she thought of the glass of "fruit water".
In order to verify his guess, Qiao Yu took out the bucket again and drank three large cups in one breath until he could not drink any more.
It was still very late at night. Qiao Yu glanced at the time. It was 2:20. She had only slept for less than four hours. Since it was still early for dawn, Qiao Yu lay back in bed and continued to catch up on her sleep.
The next day, Qiao Yu was awakened by his own stench. Sure enough, the sticky, smelly, gray-brown substance from last night reappeared on Qiao Yu's body, and the amount was much greater than what Qiao Yu had seen the night before. Apparently, the "fruit water" was indeed working.
This time, after showering, Qiao Yu was finally certain that the effects of last night weren't just a figment of her imagination. Her skin truly felt clearer, smoother and softer than a peeled egg. Her vision and hearing had also become sharper, and she even felt lighter. The jade tree within the space seemed to have become even clearer, emitting a faint glow.
Qiao Yu was shocked. Could that gray-brown sticky substance be the fruit juice that entered her body, cleansing her internal organs and expelling impurities? And this jade tree... could it be that it had become a part of her body?
Although there are still many unclear things, at least Qiao Yu can be sure that this sudden space is of great benefit to her.
Qiao Yu quickly changed her clothes after washing up. She looked at the time and saw that eleven hours had passed since she had put the food into the space last night.
Qiao Yu took out the food again. Sure enough, the two spaces lived up to Qiao Yu's expectations. The dishes were still as warm and fresh as when they were put in. Qiao Yu left some out for breakfast and took the rest back into the space.
I'd thought I was lucky to have a storage space, but I hadn't expected it to hold so many surprises. Qiao Yu felt relieved. Since time stood still in this space, he could freely stockpile food.
