Chapter 45: The Gu Family's Changes in Their Attitude towards the Little One
An Mingji knew Gu Minmin. He occasionally saw her being bullied in the village.
But she has a very famous brother, so those people would only tease her occasionally and would not dare to really bully her.
Sometimes, he envied Gu Minmin very much. Such a timid and shy person had a brother who loved and protected her.
But now, An Mingji no longer envied her because he also had someone to protect him.
From that day on, Sister Ajin stood up and there was someone to protect him.
Afraid that Gu Minmin outside the door would make another noise and wake up Sister Ajin, An Mingji got up and walked to the door.
The door was opened from the inside, which scared Gu Minmin.
She looked at An Mingji, who was called a wolf cub by the villagers, standing at the door, and whispered, "My mother asked me to come over and call you to eat."
"Um."
An Mingji responded, looked back at the person on the bed in the room, then walked out of the room and closed the door. He followed Gu Minmin to the kitchen.
"The bicycle in the yard belongs to the village chief, right? I remember the back seat of the bicycle in the village chief's house was padded with a wooden board."
Uncle Gu's voice rang out in the kitchen.
Chen Hong was serving rice in front of the stove. "Who knows? It must have been borrowed by that kid Ajie. I called him several times today but he still didn't get up. I'll just let him die of laziness!"
Just then, Gu Minmin led An Mingji to the kitchen.
Old Man Gu and Uncle Gu were sitting at the table, while Chen Hong was standing in front of the stove serving porridge.
Seeing Gu Minmin coming in, he shouted, "Come and serve the porridge!"
Gu Minmin didn't say anything, but walked towards the stove and brought the prepared porridge bowl by bowl to the table.
Seeing this, An Mingji also went over to help.
Chen Hong looked at it and said calmly: "Go sit down, I don't need your help here."
She had already received more than a hundred yuan from Jin Yatou, so how could she let this kid work? If Jin Yatou knew about it, it would be a waste of time to ask for the money back.
An Mingji was holding the bowl in his hand, and stood there at a loss after hearing Chen Hong's voice.
Chen Hong stood in front of the stove and stared at him. An Mingji met her gaze. There was no fear in his eyes, but there was confusion.
He hadn't been around anyone for several years and didn't know what to do.
Seeing this scene, Mr. Gu spoke up to help: "Xiao An, come and sit down."
An Mingji moved, took the porridge in his hand and walked to the old man and sat down.
At breakfast this morning, there were two people missing from the table, Gu Jin and Gu Jiajie.
The two of them slept until noon, but were still woken up by loud voices talking in the yard of their home.
Gu Jiajie, with his messy hair, walked out of the house and saw someone coming to the yard to buy meat, and some people who came to join in the fun were talking in the yard.
He rubbed his hair irritably and planned to go back to his room to continue sleeping.
"Jie Zi! Jie Zi..."
A familiar voice came from behind.
The voice was quite loud, and the conversation in the yard paused for a moment because of it.
Gu Jiajie turned around and saw his good brother Wu Ren running towards him.
The other person was wearing pants with several patches on them, an autumn shirt with frayed edges and exposed threads, and a baggy work jacket.
When his good friend from the next village came to see him, Gu Jiajie no longer had the thought of going back to sleep. He asked Wu Zhiren who was walking over, "Why are you here?"
"I know you're slaughtering pigs, so I came to take a look!"
Gu Jiajie raised his eyebrows and asked, "Has it spread to your village?"
"That's right. When I hear those sour words, I really envy others." Wu Zhiren smiled brightly.
