"I can tell my sister really likes you; she has her heart set on you. I hope you won't let her down." This statement was very straightforward, without any beating around the bush.
"I haven't been very nice to you these past few days, I hope you don't mind," Shen Xiaochuan said next, seemingly apologizing for his previous behavior.
Dai Xingyun's eyes remained fixed on the spot where Shen Xiaoxiao had disappeared.
His voice was low but full of determination: "She is my life! You are her closest relative, and also my relative."
After listening to Dai Xingyun's words, Shen Xiaochuan remained silent for a while before saying, "Alright, since we've already come this far, I won't say any more. My sister is in your care from now on." With that, he opened the car door and prepared to get out.
Just as Shen Xiaochuan was about to push open the door, Dai Xingyun called out to him, "Brother! Don't worry!" Although these three words were brief, Shen Xiaochuan understood what he meant.
Shen Xiaochuan paused for a moment, then continued to open the car door, waving one hand behind him as a response to Dai Xingyun.
As Dai Xingyun watched Shen Xiaochuan's departing figure, a slight smile appeared on his lips.
He knew that from this moment on, Shen Xiaochuan had completely accepted him.
Dai Xingyun drove home, and as soon as he entered, he saw Grandpa Dai sitting in the living room.
"Grandpa, why aren't you resting yet? It's so late." Dai Xingyun asked with concern as he put away the car keys.
"We've been waiting for you!" Old Master Dai sighed helplessly. "That girl is coming to visit tomorrow, and you haven't even told me and your grandma what she likes so we can prepare a gift for her."
"And what dishes does she like to eat? So we can tell someone to buy them tomorrow morning." Grandpa Dai's words pulled Dai Xingyun back from his thoughts. He replied as if waking from a dream, "Oh, right, I almost forgot about that."
The image of Shen Xiaoxiao flashed through Dai Xingyun's mind. He smiled gently and said softly, "Xiaoxiao loves shrimp and beef, and stewed soup. She likes all kinds of stewed soup. As for other things, she's not picky."
Whenever Shen Xiaoxiao is mentioned, Dai Xingyun's eyes are filled with doting affection.
His voice unconsciously softened.
Grandpa Dai watched his grandson quietly, taking in every expression he made.
When he saw the happy smile on Dai Xingyun's face when he mentioned Shen Xiaoxiao, he immediately understood everything. He nodded in satisfaction and sighed to himself, "Judging from this child's expression, he has clearly fallen for that girl. How wonderful, how wonderful!"
A relieved smile appeared on Grandpa Dai's face. He knew that his grandson had found someone he liked, which was a happy thing. Moreover, judging from Dai Xingyun's behavior, he was serious about Shen Xiaoxiao, which completely put Grandpa Dai's mind at ease.
"You haven't said anything yet. How about the dowry for your grandmother when the girl comes to visit? Do you want anything else to be added?" Grandpa Dai looked at his grandson with a face full of disappointment.
He muttered to himself: This guy must be henpecked.
When Dai Xingyun was asked this question by his grandfather, he came back to his senses. He scratched his head and said somewhat embarrassedly, "It's fine, Grandpa. I think it's good this way."
Upon hearing this, Old Master Dai became even more displeased. He glared at Dai Xingyun and said irritably, "You brat, asking you is like asking nothing at all. My wife and I will handle the preparations!"
Dai Xingyun felt a little wronged after being scolded by her grandfather. "Grandpa, you've wronged me. Of course, I wanted as many gifts as possible from you and Grandma. It's just that my uncle isn't married yet."
After hearing this, Grandpa Dai didn't know to continue. He sighed, waved his hand, and said, "Never mind, your uncle doesn't know when he'll get married. Go and rest!"
After saying that, Grandpa Dai stood up from the sofa. While stretching his limbs, he muttered to himself, "As I get older, my energy isn't what it used to be, and I can't stay up late anymore."
Seeing this, Dai Xingyun quickly reached out to help her grandfather, saying, "Grandpa, slow down, let me help you."
Grandpa Dai pushed Dai Xingyun's hand away and said with a smile, "No need, no need, this old man is not at the age where he needs help." After saying that, he slowly strolled back to his room.
After sitting in the spacious hall for a while, Dai Xingyun slowly got up and strolled back to his room.
He gently closed the door, a slight smile creeping onto his lips. He thought to himself, "Tomorrow I'll finally be able to bring Xiaoxiao to visit Grandpa and Grandma. This means our relationship has taken another step forward."
The next morning, before the sun had fully risen, Dai Xingyun woke up early from her sleep.
He stretched, then quickly jumped out of bed, walked to the wardrobe, and picked out some suitable clothes.
He first picked up a shirt, put it on, and looked at himself in the mirror from left to right, feeling that something was still missing.
So, without hesitation, he took off his shirt and put on another set of clothes.
Dai Xingyun was never satisfied with his clothes, and before he knew it, he had taken all the clothes out of the closet and scattered them on the bed.
Just then, a shout came from downstairs: "Xingyun, why haven't you come down yet? Didn't you say you were going to pick up Xiaoxiao?" It turned out that Grandma Dai was standing at the bottom of the stairs calling for people.
Dai Xingyun was startled by the sudden shout. He snapped back to his senses, looked at the clothes scattered all over the bed, and then at the outfit he was wearing. He couldn't help but slap his forehead in annoyance, "What am I doing?"
"Grandma, I'll be right down!" Dai Xingyun replied hurriedly, then frantically stuffed all the clothes on the bed into the closet.
Just as he was about to close the cabinet door, his gaze fell on the pile of messy clothes, and a sense of helplessness rose in his heart.
He sighed, resignedly took out all the clothes again, quickly and skillfully folded them, and put them back in the closet.
When Dai Xingyun hurriedly went downstairs, the whole family was already sitting around the dining table, quietly waiting for him to enjoy breakfast together.
"No need to wait for me, you can eat first." Dai Xingyun's voice came from the top of the stairs, and he hurried towards the dining table.
"Alright, come and eat quickly," Grandpa Dai said, his tone tinged with displeasure. "What's the point of the family eating together if we can't even do it all in one place?"
