Qian Daniu, however, was very hospitable. She quickly reached out to stop Xu Wenhua, and said with a smile, "Oh, child, don't be in such a hurry to leave! Why don't you stay and have lunch? Maybe my third son will be back soon. It would be nice if we could all have a lively meal together!"
Xu Wenhua gently shook her head, politely declining, "Thank you for your kindness, Grandma. But really, there's no need to trouble yourself. I'd better go home as soon as possible!"
"Oh, right!" He seemed to suddenly remember something, and looked at Qian Daniu anxiously, asking, "Little sister should be alright now, right? If she feels unwell or needs any help later, just tell her to come to my house."
After hearing this, Qian Daniu nodded repeatedly and replied, "Okay, okay, child, don't worry! Xiaoxiao is perfectly fine now, there's nothing wrong with her!"
After receiving a positive reply, Xu Wenhua finally felt relieved. He smiled slightly at Qian Daniu, then turned around and walked briskly towards the door.
Just then, Xu Wenhua happened to push open the door and almost bumped into Shen Junqi, who was about to enter.
After exchanging a glance, Xu Wenhua nodded politely, then quickly stepped aside to make way for Shen Junqi, before turning and striding hurriedly out.
Shen Junqi, however, stood frozen in place as if under a spell, her gaze fixed on Xu Wenhua's receding figure until it disappeared from sight, and she still hadn't come to her senses.
"Oh dear, young lady, what are you standing there staring at like an idiot? Hurry up and come in to cook!" Qian Daniu called out with a hint of reproach.
Hearing her grandmother's call, Shen Junqi snapped out of her daze and ran into the house, asking with a face full of curiosity, "Grandma, who was that person just now?"
At this moment, Qian Danu was staring happily at the gifts that had been delivered, her face beaming with joy.
Hearing her granddaughter's question, she looked up and gazed at her granddaughter, scrutinizing her from head to toe.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up, as if she had discovered some treasure.
"Hehe, my dear granddaughter, have you taken a fancy to him? Let me tell you, that young man is no ordinary person, he's a company commander! If you're capable of getting him to marry you, you'll be living the high life!"
As Qian Daniu spoke, she revealed a sly smile, trying to seduce Shen Junqi in this way.
"What? It really is the company commander, Grandma! How could you know such an important person? You're not kidding me, are you?" Shen Junqi's mouth dropped open in surprise, her face filled with disbelief.
"You brat, why would I lie to you!" Qian Daniu glared at Shen Junqi and shouted angrily.
Her chubby face was slightly flushed with anger, and with her hands on her hips, she looked quite dignified.
Seeing this, Shen Junqi immediately put on a flattering smile and said in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Grandma! Don't be angry. How could I not believe you? I just didn't realize it for a moment."
As she spoke, she gently shook Qian Danu's arm and began to act coquettishly.
Hearing her granddaughter say that, Qian Daniu's expression softened slightly, and she snorted, "Hmph! That's more like it." Then she happily turned back to continue fiddling with the gifts.
At this moment, Shen Junqi looked at the pile of gifts on the table, couldn't help but swallow, and pointed to one of them, asking, "Grandma! Is this what that person just brought? Wow, it looks so delicious!"
As she spoke, her eyes shone, and she almost drooled.
However, Qian Danu suddenly turned serious and said, "Go! Hurry up and cook. Don't ask questions you shouldn't be asking."
After saying that, she waved her hand to shoo Shen Junqi away.
Although Shen Junqi was somewhat unwilling, she obediently agreed, picked up the grain placed aside, and turned to walk towards the kitchen.
After seeing Shen Junqi enter the kitchen, Qian Daniu finally breathed a sigh of relief, and a happy smile returned to her face.
She eagerly pulled a jar of oranges from her bag and struggled to unscrew the lid.
Then, she tilted her head back and gulped down a mouthful of canned soup. The sweet taste made her eyes squint into slits with satisfaction.
Qian Danu hid alone in her room, happily enjoying the delicious food.
In no time, she finished the entire can of food, leaving not a single drop of broth.
As night fell, Shen Xiaoxiao's family gradually returned home.
None of them knew that Xu Wenhua had come during the day, let alone that Qian Daniu was currently sitting in her room, savoring the delicious food she had just enjoyed.
Xu Wenhua stepped into the house with light steps and empty hands.
It was midday, and sunlight streamed through the windows onto the floor inside the house.
"Hey, Wenhua, why are you back at this hour? Did the Shen family not even offer you a meal?" Xu's mother asked, patting her head out of the kitchen as she wiped her hands on her apron.
Xu Wenhua smiled slightly and replied unhurriedly, "I stayed, they were so hospitable, they kept inviting me to stay for dinner. But I thought it wasn't convenient, so I hurried back."
His tone was relaxed and natural, as if it were just a trivial matter.
Hearing this, Xu's mother's heart softened immediately. She said tenderly, "Oh dear, silly child, when you give someone a gift, you'll definitely ask them to stay for a meal!"
“How can you come back hungry like this? Wait here, Mom will make you a bowl of noodles.” With that, she turned and went into the kitchen.
"Thank you, Mom! You're so kind!" Xu Wenhua's face was full of happiness, and she showed a genuine smile.
Sitting at the dining table, Brother Xu silently looked down at the coarse rice in his bowl, then glanced at the bowls of his son and daughter-in-law beside him, which also had little to no good food or rice.
When he saw his mother go to roll out dough without saying a word after his younger brother returned, an indescribable sense of imbalance welled up in his heart.
Brother Xu was seen fiercely shoveling food into his bowl, each bite as if he were biting an enemy.
His fierce eyes seemed to spit fire as he stared straight ahead, as if everything in front of him was his enemy.
While engrossed in his meal, Mr. Xu inadvertently looked up and immediately saw his eldest son's frightening appearance.
Mr. Xu was so frightened that he trembled and almost dropped the chopsticks in his hand.
