"That's really not your fault. It just means that our country's strength is still lacking and not strong enough yet."
"If our country has become so strong that it is indestructible, then no matter what difficulties or thorny problems we face, we will not have to worry."
Dai Xingyun murmured weakly, as if all the strength in his body had been drained away.
"Alright, that's enough! Look at how sickly you look."
Shen Xiaoxiao couldn't help but scold him, then turned to Commander Xiao and explained sincerely, "Uncle Xiao, please don't take it to heart, we didn't mean to blame you."
At this moment, the entire village is like a sleeping baby, peacefully and serenely bathed in this tranquility.
The figures of Shen Xiaoxiao and Dai Xingyun, along with their group, were faintly visible in the moonlight.
They walked carefully on the road back to the village, their steps light and slow, afraid of making a sound and disturbing the villagers who were already asleep.
"Finally home." Shen Xiaoxiao murmured softly, her beautiful eyes revealing an undisguised weariness.
Dai Xingyun nodded slightly in agreement, then slowly slid off the back of the young soldier beside him.
Reaching out, she tightly grasped Shen Xiaoxiao's hand, and echoed with deep emotion, "That's right! After such a long and arduous night, everyone is exhausted."
Shen Xiaoxiao turned her head slightly, a smile as beautiful as spring flowers blooming appeared on her lips, and asked softly, "What are your thoughts?"
Upon hearing the sound, Dai Xingyun stopped in his tracks, his feet firmly planted on the ground, his gaze fixed intently and affectionately on Shen Xiaoxiao.
With a serious expression, he replied, "No matter how many difficulties and obstacles we may encounter in the future, I hope to face them bravely together with you."
A warm current surged through Shen Xiaoxiao's heart, making her feel incredibly warm.
Just as she was about to respond to Dai Xingyun's words, suddenly, a series of low and slightly heavy footsteps came from not far ahead.
The sudden noise shattered the peaceful atmosphere, making her immediately alert.
Shen Xiaoxiao quickly raised her head and looked in the direction from which the sound came.
Several tall, valiant soldiers were seen escorting a group of people slowly down the mountain.
As the distance gradually closed, the faces of those people became increasingly clear.
“That is…” Shen Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes slightly, carefully examining the group of people, trying hard to identify their identities.
A moment later, her eyes widened suddenly, and she exclaimed in surprise, "It's the group of people who were chasing us before!"
Dai Xingyun, who was standing beside him, also noticed the group of people. When he saw what they looked like, he frowned and said in a deep voice, "It seems that these guys have all been captured."
After saying that, the two quickened their pace and hurried towards the village entrance.
"Are you alright with your injuries?" Shen Xiaoxiao asked worriedly.
"It's alright, didn't you show me? It's just flesh wounds. The soldiers carried me all the way here, and I've recovered already," Dai Xingyun said gently.
When they arrived at the village entrance, they immediately saw Shen Xiaochuan standing straight to one side.
With a serious expression, he gestured with his hands, methodically directing the soldiers to lock the group of people in an empty room in the village committee.
"Brother!" Shen Xiaoxiao spotted Shen Xiaochuan with sharp eyes, called out happily, and then ran quickly towards him.
Shen Xiaochuan slowly turned around, his gaze first falling on Shen Xiaoxiao, and then shifting to Dai Xingyun beside her.
His previously tense face instantly relaxed, and a faint smile appeared on his lips: "Xiaoxiao, Xingyun, you're back!"
"How was it? Did you encounter any danger along the way? Were you injured anywhere?"
As he spoke, Shen Xiaochuan eagerly stepped forward and began to scrutinize the two of them.
Shen Xiaoxiao shook her head and replied softly, "Brother, don't worry, I'm fine. It's Xingyun who accidentally got a minor injury."
"But it's alright. I'll apply some medicine when we get back and I'll be back to normal in no time. By the way, brother, all of these people have been caught too."
After saying that, Shen Xiaoxiao pointed to the group of people who were being closely guarded not far away.
Shen Xiaochuan looked in the direction his sister was pointing, a cold glint in his eyes, and snorted, "Hmph! These guys are the same group that chased us into the cave."
"Fortunately, Commander Xiao arrived in time with a large force and captured them in one fell swoop. Now, they have all been escorted back to the village, just waiting for the higher-ups to send people to deal with them."
At this moment, Dai Xingyun, who had been silent all along, stepped forward, walked up to Shen Xiaochuan, and asked, "Brother, is our village completely safe now? After all, we've been through such a turmoil..." His words were filled with worry.
Shen Xiaochuan patted Dai Xingyun on the shoulder and comforted him, "Don't worry, Xingyun. With soldiers stationed here, we're very safe."
"You two must be exhausted from your journey. You should go home and get some rest! As for other matters, we can discuss them tomorrow," Shen Xiaochuan said with a smile, gesturing for the two to go home early.
Shen Xiaoxiao glanced at the group of people being held captive, her heart filled with complicated emotions. She whispered, "Brother, could they have accomplices?"
Shen Xiaochuan patted her shoulder and comforted her, "Don't worry, we've already sent people to search the nearby mountains and forests, and so far we haven't found any other suspicious people. You two go and rest first, leave the rest to me."
Dai Xingyun also spoke up to persuade, "Xiaoxiao, listen to me, let's go home first."
Shen Xiaoxiao could only obediently nod.
So she followed Dai Xingyun closely as they slowly walked towards home.
Before long, they arrived at their doorstep.
Shen Xiaoxiao reached out and gently pushed open the slightly old courtyard gate. After stepping into the courtyard, she immediately noticed that the house was still lit by a dim yellow light.
Shen Xiaoxiao walked quickly towards the main room. As soon as she pushed open the door, she saw a bowl of steaming noodles on the familiar wooden table, and a note lying quietly beside the bowl.
Shen Xiaoxiao stepped forward, picked up the note, and read it carefully. It read: "Little sister, you must be exhausted. Eat something and rest well. —Brother"
Looking at the steaming bowl of noodles in front of her and the heartwarming note left by her brother, Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes instantly welled up with tears, and her heart was filled with emotion.
