The house is built on the outskirts of the village. If you walk 500 meters from the yard, there is a small river. It is very convenient to wash clothes. The river is also very clear. Most villagers wash their clothes downstream of this river.
As soon as Ma Aning stepped into the courtyard, a feeling of fondness welled up in her heart.
The courtyard was quite large, estimated to be at least three-tenths of an acre. She stood there, already envisioning herself cultivating this land.
All kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables can be grown here.
To the right is the kitchen and washroom area. Directly opposite the main entrance is a spacious and bright hall, giving a feeling of openness and grandeur.
What surprised Ma Aning even more was that a well had been dug on the right side of the courtyard, near the kitchen!
Curious, she leaned closer to look and saw that the well water was crystal clear, as calm and still as a mirror. With this well, everything would be much more convenient.
This house is not a traditional courtyard house. It is a modern building, so it lacks the exquisite carved beams and painted rafters, as well as the picturesque scenery of small bridges and flowing water found in ancient architecture.
After checking it out, Ma Aning found that the house had a total of four rooms. Although there weren't many rooms, it was enough for Ma Aning and her husband.
The house is well-preserved with almost no damage. More importantly, the original owners are no longer alive, thus avoiding potential property disputes.
Looking at everything before her, Ma Aning couldn't help but feel her heart flutter.
She turned to the village chief and brigade leader beside her, her face full of anticipation, and said, "Uncle Village Chief, Uncle Brigade Leader, is this house for sale?"
"As you both know, Shan and I are about to welcome a new life. The baby is due soon, but Shan's leg is injured and we don't know when it will heal."
“We simply don’t have the energy to build a new house. If we can sell this house, it would be incredibly convenient for us, saving us a lot of trouble.”
After exchanging a glance, the village chief spoke first: "This house is the best house in our village! Ever since Grandma Sun passed away, we have been taking great care to protect it, and as you can see, there is no damage whatsoever."
"Selling it wouldn't be impossible, but the price might be a little high." He then sighed softly.
At this point, Ma Aning's people quickly followed up, "Then can we get a property ownership certificate? You two should understand that buying a house is a big deal, so you definitely need to have all the relevant documents firmly in hand."
"Otherwise, what if someone suddenly appears one day and insists that the house is his? Then we'll be in a situation where we can't explain ourselves!"
Upon hearing this, the village chief pondered for a moment, then replied, "If you're determined to buy it, our production team will provide you with all the necessary documentation, clearly and explicitly. You can rest assured about that!"
Receiving this reply reassured Ma Aning somewhat, but she still asked, "So, village chief, how much do you plan to sell this house for?"
After asking the question, she was filled with anticipation and felt incredibly nervous, her eyes fixed on the village chief, as if trying to glean the answer from his expression.
The village chief and the brigade leader next to him exchanged a few words in hushed tones before turning to Ma Aning and saying, "Shanzi's wife, I know about your family's situation."
"However, you saw this house with your own eyes just now, and it's really nice, right? So if you really want to buy it..."
At this point, the village chief paused for a moment, then said, "We can decide to sell it to you for 220 yuan."
“Actually, you are a native of our village. You can use your own land to buy some bricks and tiles to build a house.”
"So, when you calculate it this way, the price isn't much different from what it is now," the captain said earnestly to Ma Aning, gesturing with his fingers.
Hearing this, Ma Aning gave a wry smile and shook her head helplessly, saying, "The prices are indeed almost the same, and you can live in a brand new house."
"But the problem is that my husband and I simply don't have enough time and energy to manage the construction," Ma Aning said with a long sigh.
At this moment, the village chief nodded decisively, indicating that he understood Ma Aning's difficulties.
Then, with a wave of his hand, he said readily, "Alright! In that case, let's call a short meeting tonight."
"If the house is sold at this price, and the villagers all agree to sell it to you, then from now on, this house truly belongs to you!"
It's clear that this village chief is always a decisive person.
After leaving the house and locking the door, Ma Aning said goodbye to the two men and slowly returned home.
The house was quiet. Although the family division took up our lunch break and no one got a rest, those who were supposed to go to work in the afternoon still went to work.
Shen Zishan lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
The sound of Ma Aning pushing open the door and walking in didn't pull him out of his thoughts.
"Brother Shan, what are you thinking about?" Ma Aning gently held Shen Zishan's hand and asked softly. Her beautiful eyes were full of concern.
Shen Zishan sighed softly and replied with a wry smile, "It's nothing, my wife. It's just that from now on, it's just you and our children by my side."
He felt a pang of sorrow as he recalled the hurt he had suffered at the hands of his parents that day.
Ma Aning sensed her husband's inner pain and quickly comforted him, "Brother Shan, don't be sad. As long as you continue to treat me well like this, no matter what happens, I will always be by your side."
As she spoke, a warm and charming smile bloomed on her face, illuminating Shen Zishan's somewhat gloomy heart like the warm spring sun.
Ma Aning remembered that she had something to say and said, "I have something to tell you. The village chief and the others just took me to see Grandma Sun's house."
“I really like it. So I was thinking, why don’t we keep our family’s homestead for the future and leave it to our children, and then buy Grandma Sun’s house?”
“Look at our current situation. You have a leg injury and can’t move around easily, and I’m pregnant and need someone to take care of me. We really don’t have the energy to build a new house.”
"Besides, everyone in the village knows we got 300 yuan, and I'm a little worried that thieves might target the money at night. So, it's safer to spend it as soon as possible."
