Chapter 215 Discovering the Laboratory

Unfortunately, since the bullet was a blank, it did not cause any real damage to the wolf, but it did cause the wolf a sharp pain.

Provoked, the wolf grew even angrier. It howled, turned around, and pounced on Shen Xiaochuan again, baring its teeth and claws.

Knowing that he had a limited number of bullets, Shen Xiaochuan understood that this battle had to be won quickly.

He seized the opportunity, and as the wolf leaped up, he crouched down and slid over, smashing the wolf's belly hard with the butt of his rifle.

The large, fanged wolf suddenly fell to the ground like a boulder, its painful whimpers echoing in the silent tunnel.

However, the wolf did not give up. After only a moment, it endured the pain again and struggled to jump up from the ground.

Just then, Shen Xiaochuan, who had been keeping a close eye on the wolf's every move, seized the opportunity and charged forward like an arrow released from a bow.

He gripped a gleaming dagger tightly in his hand and, with lightning speed, plunged it into the wolf's neck.

The wolf let out a final, piercing howl, its body convulsed violently a few times, and finally lay motionless on the ground.

Looking at the wolf that had completely lost its life, Shen Xiaochuan's tense nerves finally relaxed a little.

He let out a long sigh of relief, then plopped down on the ground, panting heavily, trying to recover his depleted strength.

After regaining some strength, Shen Xiaochuan stood up, dusted himself off, and continued to slowly move forward along the dark and deep tunnel.

The tunnel was filled with a damp and suffocating atmosphere. The walls were covered with moss, and the ground was slippery from years of neglect.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, suddenly, a faint light appeared ahead.

For Shen Xiaochuan, who had been groping his way forward in the darkness, this glimmer of light was like a drowning man grasping at a straw.

He was immediately invigorated, and his pace quickened considerably.

When he hurried to the end of the tunnel, he was stunned by what he saw – the ground was covered with pale bones, some still in the positions they had been tortured in before their deaths, a truly horrifying sight.

The light came from a small hole in the ceiling, below which was a pond, which is why Shen Xiaochuan noticed the light coming in.

Seeing such a horrific scene, Shen Xiaochuan's brows furrowed deeper and deeper, and an indescribable sense of pity welled up in his heart.

As Shen Xiaochuan stared at the skeletons and their horrific state of suffering, he began to form some guesses.

The place is filled with a chilling atmosphere. Without a doubt, this is the place where those cruel and heartless people conducted their heinous experiments back then!

He cautiously walked deeper into the cave, the ground beneath his feet seemingly still bearing the shadows of those bloody scenes from years past.

Finally, he arrived at the innermost part, where a dilapidated table came into view.

A stack of yellowed papers lay on the table, as if telling the secrets of that dark history.

Shen Xiaochuan reached out and picked up one of the documents, glancing at it casually. He saw that it was covered with dense Japanese writing.

Although he was not familiar with the language, he could sense the huge conspiracy and terrifying truth hidden behind the document with just a cursory glance.

At this moment, Shen Xiaochuan knew he could no longer participate in this exercise.

Such a significant discovery must be reported to higher authorities as soon as possible; otherwise, the consequences will be unimaginable.

Without hesitation, he turned around and, with firm yet hurried steps, groped his way back along the path he had come from.

When he finally returned to the original cave entrance, he found that there was no one around. A strange sense of tension welled up in his heart, but he quickly calmed down, took out a signal flare from his backpack, and shot it into the sky.

With a loud "bang," a dazzling light instantly shattered the silence of the mountain forest.

Shen Xiaochuan stood quietly and waited. Not long after, a series of hurried footsteps came from afar.

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a team of 12 people rushing towards them.

"Hey, Red Army brother, you don't look like you're seriously injured, so why are you suddenly firing signal flares?"

Finally, unable to contain his curiosity, he spoke first and asked.

At this moment, Shen Xiaochuan had no time to pay attention to his question.

Shen Xiaochuan flashed forward like an arrow released from a bow, taking a single step forward.

His steps were quick and powerful. After rushing to the group, Shen Xiaochuan shouted impatiently, "Does anyone have a radio? Can you contact your superiors immediately? I have an extremely important report that must be submitted right away! Not a second can be wasted!"

Upon hearing this, the man who appeared to be the team leader frowned slightly, looked at Shen Xiaochuan with a serious expression, and said, "What's so urgent? Why don't you tell us first? Perhaps we can be of some help."

Shen Xiaochuan shook his head without hesitation and replied firmly and briefly, "You can't handle this. You must report it to your superiors. Only by letting more professional people take over can it be handled."

After he finished speaking, his deep eyes stared intently at the squad leader in front of him, as if trying to convey the seriousness and urgency of the matter through his eyes.

The squad leader nodded thoughtfully, then quickly gestured with his eyes to one of the young soldiers in the team who was carrying a heavy pack.

Upon receiving the instructions, the young soldier immediately understood. He put down his backpack and carefully took out a long antenna, some tangled wires, and a slightly worn telephone. Then, the young soldier skillfully began to assemble them.

His fingers deftly manipulated the various parts, his movements swift and precise.

Time passed slowly, and after about 10 minutes, the young soldier excitedly shouted, "Report to the squad leader! The telephone is assembled and ready to be used!"

"Comrade, which number would you like to dial?"

The squad leader maintained a calm demeanor throughout, showing no anger on his face, and even displaying kindness and patience, fulfilling all the other party's requests one by one.

"Connect me to your highest leader's phone!" Shen Xiaochuan said directly, his tone firm and leaving no room for doubt.

The young soldier beside him kept his eyes fixed on the squad leader. After the squad leader nodded slightly in agreement, the soldier quickly replied, "Okay, I'll dial it for you right away!"
