Chapter 322 Getting on the Train Again

"The train is pulling into the station, let's get on quickly and talk about everything else once things have settled down," Shen Xiaochuan said, glancing rapidly out the window.

The train was slowly pulling into the station. He was getting anxious, afraid of missing it, so he urged the train on.

Shen Xiaoxiao nodded hurriedly when she heard her brother's words.

She quickly walked to Shen Xiaochuan's side, took the bag from his hand, and then asked with concern, "Brother, are you injured anywhere else? If so, let's get treatment here first, so as not to delay your condition."

Seeing his sister's worried expression, Shen Xiaochuan felt a warmth in his heart.

He smiled and shook his head, reassuringly saying, "No, it's just a minor injury on my hand. I'll be fine after I get in the car and rest for a bit."

Shen Xiaoxiao was still a little worried. She carefully checked Shen Xiaochuan's body and found that his clothes only had a cut on his arm and no other cuts before she was relieved.

Shen Xiaochuan smiled helplessly. He knew his sister was concerned about him, but time was of the essence, and he really didn't want to delay any longer.

So he gently patted Chen Xiaoxiao's shoulder and said, "Okay, little sister, don't worry. This little injury is really nothing, there's really no other injury. Let's get in the car quickly, or we'll really miss our chance."

After saying that, Shen Xiaochuan walked quickly toward the ticket gate, and Shen Xiaoxiao hurriedly followed.

The two completely ignored the train police officer and took out their tickets, preparing to have them checked. Just then, the ticket inspector returned.

The ticket inspector was trembling all over, clearly terrified. He took the tickets from the two people with shaky hands, without even glancing at them carefully.

He quickly returned the tickets to them as if they were hot potatoes, then waved for the two to go inside.

Shen Xiaoxiao was full of suspicion. She turned to Shen Xiaochuan and asked in confusion, "Brother, don't you think this is strange? He didn't even look at your ID and let us go so easily."

"Besides, with something this serious happening, shouldn't we have gone to the police station to resolve this? Why did they let us leave so easily?"

Shen Xiaochuan's eyes flickered slightly, but he did not answer Shen Xiaoxiao's question immediately. Instead, he remained silent for a moment.

After the two placed their luggage on the shelf and sat on their respective beds, Shen Xiaochuan began to look around, seemingly to make sure there were no suspicious people around.

After a while, Shen Xiaochuan felt safe, so he lowered his voice, leaned close to Shen Xiaoxiao's ear, and whispered, "Actually, if I had chased after them, I might have been able to catch that person, but..."

He paused for a moment, then continued, "But the train police officer held me tightly. Why do you think he did that?"

Shen Xiaoxiao looked up in shock, "So those train police officers were also his accomplices."

"Even if not all of them, the one who pulled me is definitely one of them. They all know who we are, so naturally they didn't stop us when we wanted to leave," Shen Xiaochuan instructed.

Thinking of something, she continued, "Little sister, you must stay alert on the way. I suspect he might try to attack again on the road, and it might not be the same person."

"Brother, don't push me away next time something like this happens. I can protect myself too," Shen Xiaoxiao said with her arms crossed and her chin slightly raised, looking quite proud.

Looking at his sister's expression, Shen Xiaochuan smiled helplessly and nodded, "Okay!" However, his brows were tightly furrowed, as if he had something on his mind.

Shen Xiaoxiao keenly noticed her brother's unusual behavior and asked in confusion, "Brother, what's wrong? Is there something you're hiding from me?"

Shen Xiaochuan hesitated for a moment, but decided to tell his sister his worries. "I'm worried that they won't make a move this time. Then we'll be in the open while the enemy is in the dark. I can't always be by your side, and you can't guard against thieves every day."

After listening to her brother's words, Shen Xiaoxiao also felt that there was some truth to them. She nodded thoughtfully, "Indeed, if you are always so tense, you will become suspicious."

Just then, the train suddenly sounded a piercing whistle and then slowly started moving.

Shen Xiaoxiao quickly looked out the window and saw that the scenery outside the window began to move backward, faster and faster, until it finally became a blurry blur of light and shadow.

The brother and sister were both deep in thought, trying to figure out how to resolve the situation.

Looking at Shen Xiaochuan's exhausted appearance, Shen Xiaoxiao couldn't help but frown with heartache.

She said softly, "Alright, brother, you didn't sleep a wink all night, you must be exhausted. You're still injured, go and get some rest. I'll keep an eye on things around us."

Hearing his sister's words, Shen Xiaochuan felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He was indeed very tired, so he stopped refusing, lay down on the berth, closed his eyes, and soon fell asleep.

Shen Xiaoxiao sat quietly on the stool next to Shen Xiaochuan's sleeper berth, her eyes occasionally scanning her surroundings.

She may appear somewhat bored on the surface, but she is actually highly vigilant, fearing that something suspicious might happen.

Throughout the journey, Shen Xiaoxiao remained on edge, not daring to relax for a moment. She didn't wake Shen Xiaochuan because she knew her brother needed enough rest to recover his strength.

Time passed slowly, and after about six hours, Shen Xiaochuan finally opened his eyes.

He raised his hand to look at his watch and said in surprise, "I slept for so long, little sister, why didn't you wake me up?"

Shen Xiaoxiao put down her book and replied with a smile, "It's nothing. I saw you were too tired, so I let you sleep a little longer. Are you hungry?"

As she spoke, she stood up, walked to her bunk, gently opened the blanket, and reached inside to take out a boxed lunch from her spatial storage. The lunch was still steaming, clearly freshly prepared.

"Brother, hurry up and eat. This is what I bought and I've kept it warm for you," Shen Xiaoxiao said gently, handing him the lunchbox.

"Thank you, little sister!" Shen Xiaochuan took the lunchbox, then turned and walked to the sink. "I'm going to wash my face."

He turned on the tap, letting the cool water flow over his face, washing away the fatigue and dust from his journey.

After washing, he casually wiped his face with his hand, water droplets sliding down his chin and dripping onto the ground.

When Shen Xiaochuan returned to his seat, a few drops of water still clung to his face, glistening faintly in the sunlight.

Seeing this, Shen Xiaoxiao quickly took out a clean towel from her bag and handed it to Shen Xiaochuan.

Shen Xiaochuan took the towel, but instead of wiping his face carefully, he just haphazardly wiped it and then threw the towel aside.

Then, he eagerly opened the lunchbox, and an enticing aroma wafted out.
