What’s going on?
Tian Xin had just finished her work at the village committee and didn't bother going home before visiting Cainiao Guoguo. Before she could even enter, she was blocked by a pile of messy packages at the door.
"You can't put this here!"
She took a look and sorted the packages on the ground according to size and placed them neatly on the steps at the door.
Zhang Lei was unloading goods from the truck, still throwing them at the door in handfuls.
"Hey, wait a moment," Tian Xin stopped him and said, "Are these all from today?"
"Yeah!" Zhang Lei responded, put down the last pile of packages in his hand, took a step forward with his long legs, and walked around the pile of packages on the ground and went inside.
Ever since that day's conversation with Zhang Lei, the relationship between him and the villagers had become distant. Every time he came, he rarely spoke, quietly finishing his work and leaving.
The villagers were happy and peaceful, and no one took him seriously. They handled their work in such a tacit way that no friction arose.
Tian Xin sorted out the packages at the door and carefully counted them. The more she counted, the more her brows furrowed. She turned and went back into the house.
The atmosphere in the room was dead and silent. Everyone was silently packing their own goods and sorting them on the shelves. There was no gossip or banter as usual.
"Are there still the most clothes today?" Tian Xin walked up to Li Xiaoyan and helped move the packed clothes to Zhang Lei.
Li Xiaoyan looked very unhappy. She was carrying the goods in her hands, but her brows were furrowed and she said nothing. Seeing Tian Xin asking questions, she sighed: "It's been like this for several days in a row. If it continues like this, I'll be left with nothing this month!"
After saying that, she took down all the packed clothes from her shelf, moved them in front of Zhang Lei, and turned to go out the door.
Zhang Lei was helping Second Aunt scan for shipments. He had already scanned several boxes of fruit. He took a pen and casually wrote out a receipt, handing it over: "76!"
Second Aunt didn't say anything. She took the receipt, put it on the shelf next to her, and turned to keep the accounts.
Li Xiaoyan came back with the returned package and saw Zhang Lei scanning his goods. She walked over and put the returned package on the shelf and went out again.
When she came back the second time, the pile of packages in her arms had blocked her face. She walked in tremblingly with the packages in her arms and placed them on the shelf.
Zhang Lei had already finished scanning, and after a careful count, he reported the number: "92!"
"We've refunded so much, can't you charge less?" Li Xiaoyan muttered while holding the receipt.
Zhang Lei ignored her and picked up the goods piled on the ground and put them in the car.
Li Li didn't come to deliver the goods today, so the shelves were empty. Tian Xin saw a few orders of her returned goods at the door and took them in to help her put them in order!
"Doesn't she have any orders today?" Tian Xin asked Tian Lei, who was packing pickled vegetables. Tian Lei looked up at her and replied casually: "Her child is sick, so she probably won't be here today!"
"The child is sick?" Tian Xin frowned. "When did it happen?"
"Last night, she had a high fever! She might be too busy these days, so she'll have to take a break!"
"What about her mother-in-law? Won't she help her?" Tian Xin looked at Tian Lei's furrowed brows, squatted down and helped her pack with nimble hands and feet.
Tian Lei sighed: "Don't mention it. Her mother-in-law is a money-grubber! When business was good before, she wanted to treat her like a goddess, taking care of the children and cooking for her! But these days, seeing that things are not going well, she just ignored her and left her and her daughter to go to her older daughter's house!"
After Tian Lei finished speaking, she sighed again and said earnestly: "Xinxin, everyone has had a hard time these past few days! The return rate is really too high. If it continues like this, we won't be able to hold on!"
"What's going on? Why are there so many returns all of a sudden?"
"What else could be going on?" Tian Lei looked out the door, then leaned in close to Tian Xin's ear and said, "Most of the negative reviews say the delivery is too slow. It used to take four or five days, but now it takes a week. With that, who would still buy online?"
"A week?" Tian Xin was a little incredulous. "Didn't we agree that the goods shipped that day would arrive in five days at most? When did it start to be so slow?"
"It was like this last week!" Tian Lei put down the work in her hands, took the package that had just been returned and handed it to Tian Xin: "Look, this was sent out half a month ago, and it was just returned today!"
There were few people in the room now. Second Aunt left after delivering the goods, and the other families followed suit. Only Li Xiaoyan and Tian Lei were left.
Tian Xin glanced at Zhang Lei who was loading goods on the car outside the door, then turned and walked out.
"Zhang Lei, how have you been these past few days?"
"What's going on?" Zhang Lei squatted on the car and lowered his head to stack the goods, and asked casually.
"I heard you signed up a few more express delivery businesses. How are they going? Is everything going well?"
"You're well-informed!" Zhang Lei said disdainfully, "But this has nothing to do with you!"
"Ah, I... just asked casually!" Tian Xin said lightly.
After this sentence, neither of them spoke. Tian Xin watched Zhang Lei busy himself and did not leave, just watched quietly.
Zhang Lei felt a little uncomfortable being stared at. He turned his head and gave him a cold look: "What are you looking at?"
"nothing!"
"If you have something to say, just say it. Don't hide it!"
As he spoke, he had already packed all the packages, turned around, jumped out of the car and went into the house.
Tian Xin didn't go in, but waited at the door.
Zhang Lei got in the car again, holding Tian Lei's packed packages. This time it was faster because Tian Lei had fewer packages, so they were all packed in just a few minutes!
He turned around, jumped out of the car, took out a cigarette, lit it, slowly blew out a smoke ring, looked into the distance, and said casually: "Anything else?"
"Can these goods be shipped out today?" Tian Xin raised her chin towards the packages in the car and asked suspiciously.
"If not today, when will it be sent? Tomorrow?" Zhang Lei leaned against the carriage and smoked with disdain, his eyes always looking into the distance.
Tian Xin took out her phone and checked the time, then turned and called inside: "Auntie, Sister Leilei, I'm leaving first! You two lock the door!"
"Hey!" A voice responded from inside.
She turned to look at Zhang Lei and said gently, "Hey, give me a ride later!"
"Give you a ride?" Zhang Lei sneered, "Do you think I'm giving you a ride? How can I give you a ride?"
"Just drop me off somewhere closer to your company. It's hard to take a bus right now. Sorry for the hassle!"
Zhang Leigang had been looking at the mountains in the distance. When he heard this, he immediately looked away and glanced at her face: "You want to go to our company?"
"Um!"
"What are you doing? Terminate the contract?" Zhang Lei blew out a puff of smoke, threw the cigarette butt to the ground and stamped it out. He looked up and sneered, "You're quitting so soon?"
"You seem to be gloating over this misfortune, don't you?" Tian Xin sneered. "Why, are you happy that we can't continue?"
"Not really," Zhang Lei said calmly, looking off into the distance again. "If you guys can't keep running, I'll be gone too! What's there to be happy about?"
"ah?"
"Let's go, get in the car!" Zhang Lei raised his chin at her, turned around and got in the car.
