Chapter 82 Son, Where is Your Dad?

Chapter 82 Son, Where is Your Dad?

Tian Xin quickly wiped the tears from her face and cleared her throat. She turned to Zhang Shuai, gave him a forced smile, and whispered, "Hey!"

She walked to the bed, bent down, tilted her head, put her ear close to Zhang Shuai, and listened to him speak.

She listened to him whispering in her ear, slowly turned her gaze to Lin Zhou, and then gradually to Lin Hai. Her eyes quickly turned red, and before the tears could flow out, she forced them back.

Seeing this, Lin Zhou wanted to wipe her, but just as he stretched out his hand, he was grabbed by Lin Hai. He turned around and glanced at Lin Hai, who signaled him with his eyes: listen to him.

Zhang Shuai had just woken up. He was too weak and spoke incoherently. He fell asleep after just a few words!

Tian Xin covered him with a blanket, told the nurse to keep an eye on Zhang Shuai, and got up to send Lin Hai and Lin Zhou out.

"Aren't you going back?" Lin Zhou asked Tian Xin.

"I have something to do, you two go back first!" Tian Xin said.

Lin Hai glanced at Tian Xin and turned away.

Lin Zhou stood at the door, showing no intention of leaving. He looked at Tian Xin, opened his mouth several times, but swallowed his words, not knowing what he wanted to say.

"Just say whatever you want to say!" Tian Xin saw that he seemed to be hesitant to speak, so she spoke first.

"I'm sorry about what happened just now! It's my fault."

Tian Xin looked back at Zhang Shuai and pulled Lin Zhou to the corridor outside the ward.

"I accept your apology!" She raised her head, grabbed the corner of her clothes with one hand, looked into Lin Zhou's eyes, and said firmly:

"Lin Zhou, I now know everything you've done for me, and I thank you. You don't have to worry about whether I'll be angry about what happened just now, or whether I'll ignore you. Don't worry, I won't. From now on, I accept what you said, that I'm your best friend."

She finished speaking in one breath and turned her gaze away from Lin Zhou's face, not knowing what she was thinking.

"Friend?" Lin Zhou frowned and echoed in a low voice, as if asking.

"Didn't you say that? You, Lin Zhou, are 25 years old this year. As of today, you only have Lin Hai and I as your two best friends."

Tian Xin repeated his words word for word.

Lin Zhou didn't respond for a long time.

Alas...this is how she understood it!

But it seemed like there was nothing wrong with it. He had said it, and Tian Xin had admitted it, so he couldn't take it back!

"So what are you going to do next? Do you need me..."

"Yes, I will. I will be counting on you a lot in the future. Don't worry, I won't be polite!"

Tian Xin had no expression on her face when she said this. Lin Zhou didn't know whether she was telling the truth or just angry, so he asked again: "Are you really not angry?"

"No! Go back and tell Lin Hai that I think he was just joking! As long as he doesn't cause trouble for Zhang Shuai, he can say anything to me! Go back! I'll call you if I need anything!"

After saying that, she turned around and went back to the ward without looking at Lin Zhou again.

Lin Zhou walked into the car with a lot on his mind. Lin Hai called him several times but he didn't respond.

"What's wrong with you?" Lin Hai asked.

"Do you think Tian Xin was acting abnormally just now?"

"What's wrong with her?" Lin Hai leaned back in his seat impatiently, staring out the window in a daze.

"It's okay! I'll take you home!" Lin Zhou came to his senses and started the car.

"Don't go back yet, go see my mother!" Lin Hai said.

The snow was falling harder and harder, and the road was deserted, so traffic was moving very slowly. About half an hour later, the car stopped in front of a nursing home, and two people got out and walked inside.

This sanatorium is located in the new urban area and its facilities are the best in the area. Due to the high fees, there are not many people living there, so it is very quiet.

The two walked through a long corridor into a room and found that there was no one in the room.

"Did he go out?" Lin Zhou asked.

"You sit down first, I'll go look for it!"

Lin Hai looked around the yard and caught a glimpse of an old man standing under a tree in the corner of the yard, patting the snowflakes on the branches, with a staff member following beside him.

He walked over and hugged her gently from behind: "Mom!"

The man turned around, looked at Lin Hai, without any response, and turned around to continue patting the snowflakes on the trees.

Her hair was silver and trembling, and from behind she looked like a woman in her seventies. But when she turned around, her skin didn't look that old, maybe only about fifty. She was short, with sunken eyes, and was thin and slender. Standing in the snow, she looked like she could fall at any moment.

Seeing that she didn't respond, Lin Hai called out again: "Mom——".

The old man stopped, slowly turned around, and looked at Lin Hai again.

Lin Hai bent down and put his face close to her. After a while, the old woman finally recognized him: "Son!"

"Hey!" Lin Hai responded.

"Why are you here? Where's your dad?" The old man looked around and didn't see anyone else. He shouted anxiously, "Where's your dad? Where did you take him?"

"Mom, let's go in. Ah! It's cold outside! Come on, follow me in!" Lin Hai helped the old man through the corridor and into the room.

The room was warm. As soon as the old man entered, he saw Lin Zhou sitting on a chair. He walked over and happily took Lin Zhou's hand: "Fusheng, you're here! You finally came to see me! I knew you would come to see me!"

"Auntie, I'm Xiao Zhou!" Lin Zhou raised his hands above his head, made two little rabbit ears, and said softly: "Xiao Zhou, do you remember?"

As soon as the old man saw Lin Zhoubi's little rabbit, he seemed to remember something and immediately stopped smiling. A trace of sadness appeared on his face and he murmured, "You are not Fusheng, you are Xiao Zhou!"

"Son," the old man turned to face Lin Hai: "Where is your father? Why hasn't he come to see me yet?"

Lin Zhou and Lin Hai looked at each other, and quickly took out the things they had just brought to show the old woman: "Auntie, look at what this is?"

"This is - soft, fragrant and crispy!" The old man leaned close to Lin Zhou's hand and looked at it for a long time, then smiled again.

"Yes, your favorite - soft, fragrant and crispy. Come, have some!" Lin Zhou tore open the package, took out the snack inside and handed it to the old man.

"Thank you, Xiao Zhou. How is your mother? I haven't seen her in a long time! I still want to hear her sing!"

When Lin Hai heard this, his eyes lit up, he stood up suddenly, looked at the old woman and asked softly: "Mom, do you still remember Aunt Zhou?"

"Remember! Ruilian...sang...'Three Sisters Teaching Their Sons', she sang better than me!" said the old man after taking a bite of the snack.

"Then what do you remember? Tell me!" Lin Hai looked at the old man with anticipation.

"It's sweet, eat it!" The old man stuffed half of the dessert into Lin Hai's mouth.

Lin Hai's heart, which had just been lifted, suddenly fell back down and he lowered his head in disappointment.

"Son, remember to bring water with you when you go to school. You need to drink water when playing basketball! I made some soup for you, drink it when you come back from school!" The old man picked up a cup on the table and handed it to Lin Hai, touching his head.

Lin Hai closed his eyes and sighed deeply.

I'm confused again! I just remembered something and I'm confused again!

"Son, why aren't you sleeping yet? Go to bed quickly! I'm sleepy!" The old man said to himself, took off his shoes and lay down on the bed.

Lin Hai covered her with a blanket and gently patted her into sleep.

Lin Zhou looked at the mother and son, feeling very uncomfortable. If it weren't for his father, nothing should have happened like this.

"I'm going to see a doctor to find out what's going on. You go wait for me in the car." Lin Hai said to Lin Zhou and turned to leave the room.

The sanatorium is so quiet, so quiet that it's suffocating.

Lin Zhou returned to the car, turned on the music out of boredom, leaned back in the seat and closed his eyes to rest.

The ethereal and gentle piano music echoed in the carriage, sometimes lively and jumping, sometimes heavy and unrestrained.

It’s the song “Yearning Across Time and Space”.
