Chapter 113 An Excellent Child
Zhao Fang'er walked over and said with a smile, "Your second uncle often talks about you. If you have time, remember to come and visit him often. There are many rooms in the house, so this one will be reserved for you. Feel free to stay here whenever you come."
"Take a look and see if there's anything you're missing. I'll ask Aunt Liu to go down and buy it for you in a bit."
Shen Xuewei choked up, her heart filled with emotion.
It turns out that what I said before wasn't just polite talk, but the truth.
Having been fake for so long, I suddenly felt a little lost when faced with someone's sincerity.
A bright smile appeared on her lips. "Thank you, Second Aunt. I like it very much. This is perfect. I don't need anything, and I don't need to trouble Aunt Liu anymore."
Seeing that she was indeed very satisfied, Zhao Fang'er didn't say anything more, took her hand, and led her to the wardrobe.
The wardrobe was opened, and inside were several summer and winter outfits. Judging from the style and size, they were probably bought for her.
As expected.
"I bought these clothes at a nearby shopping mall in the last couple of days, and I don't know if they'll fit."
As she spoke, she took out one of the items and compared it to Shen Xuewei's.
"Hmm, it looks a little big, but it fits pretty well. Do you like it?"
Shen Xuewei nodded quickly, afraid that Zhao Fang'er would be too late, and then turned around and went downstairs to buy it.
"I really like it. I can wear it repeatedly for several days in a row. Thank you, Auntie."
Looking at Shen Xuewei, whose big eyes were blinking, Zhao Fang'er's eyes were overflowing with affection.
She should have had another child back then.
She was tricked into getting a divorce by that heartless man, and when she learned that he had transferred all his assets beforehand, she went to his house to confront him.
She accidentally missed a step and fell down the stairs, losing her five or six-month-old baby.
That was a fully formed female fetus; if it had survived, it would have been two or three years older than this child.
They should be just like this child, both being excellent children.
More than a decade has passed, but the thought of that child still causes her heart to ache.
Shen Xuewei noticed that Zhao Fang'er was in a bad mood, so she called out, "Second Aunt."
Zhao Fang'er snapped out of her daze and smiled at her, "Alright, then you rest first. Tomorrow I'll have the driver take you to Luli County, and you and your aunt can go home together."
Chen Fangyang had just returned from his trip and was too lazy to move.
Chen Fangyang had previously said that Chen Fanglan was also going back, and that the driver would pick her up in the county and they would go back together.
"Okay, then Auntie, you should get some rest too."
Zhao Fang'er left the room, closing the door behind her.
The door closed, and Shen Xuewei breathed a sigh of relief, plopping down on the small sofa next to her.
She cleared her mind for a while, then got up to take a shower and change her clothes before starting her writing task for the day.
She stopped writing around 11 p.m., saved the document, turned off her computer, lay down on the bed, and began to drift off to sleep.
The next day, after having breakfast at Zhao Fang'er's house, she took her backpack and was escorted downstairs by Chen Fangyang and Zhao Fang'er.
Before closing the front door, Zhao Xiannan waved to Chen Xuewei from the living room:
"Goodbye, Weiwei. I'll come to see you next Chinese New Year."
Shen Xuewei smiled and waved, saying, "See you next time."
The elevator descended to the underground parking garage, where Zhao Fang'er opened the back door to let Shen Xuewei get in.
As Shen Xuewei got into the car, she said to the two of them, "Goodbye, Second Uncle; goodbye, Second Aunt."
Chen Fangyang casually leaned against a car behind him, his hands in his pockets, looking at her with droopy eyelids.
"When you get home, remember to tell your grandparents to farm less, and don't spend all your time in the fields under the sun. Look how dark you are, you don't look like a proper young lady at all. Also, study hard after school starts, don't let your grades drop and your grandpa blame me."
Shen Xuewei replied in a drawn-out voice, "I know, Second Uncle, I remember it all."
Zhao Fang'er felt that Chen Fangyang's words were a bit harsh, and glared at him.
She leaned down to look at Shen Xuewei, "Don't listen to your second uncle's nonsense, you're very beautiful now. As long as a child is healthy, that's all that matters."
As he spoke, he took out a red envelope from his pocket and handed it to Shen Xuewei.
"I heard you're starting school soon. This is a little something from your aunt. If you don't get enough to eat in the school cafeteria, use this money to buy some bread and snacks..."
Shen Xuewei felt embarrassed to accept the gift and quickly declined, saying, "No, Aunt, I can't accept it. If my grandparents find out, they'll scold me."
Zhao Fang'er forcefully pushed the red envelope towards her and stuffed it into her backpack.
"It's okay. If you don't tell them when you get back, they won't know."
Before Shen Xuewei could take out the red envelope, she closed the car door and gave instructions to the driver in the front seat.
"Brother Lu, drive. Remember to make sure they get home safely."
Sitting in the driver's seat, Brother Lu nodded calmly, "Okay, boss."
The car slowly drove out of the underground parking garage. The two watched the car's rear end disappear before turning around and slowly leaving the garage.
Brother Lu was a man of few words, and he didn't talk much to Shen Xuewei on the way.
Shen Xuewei was happy to be at ease, her eyelids drooping intermittently, but she never fell into a deep sleep.
The driver was a complete stranger to her, and she dared not fall into a deep sleep; she had to remain vigilant.
We drove in silence for more than two hours before finally arriving in Luli County, stopping not far from an old building.
Driver Lu took out a piece of paper and called the number on it.
Shen Xuewei heard her aunt Chen Fanglan's voice on the other end of the phone and immediately perked up her ears.
"Hello, is this Ms. Chen Fanglan? I'm Mr. Zhao's driver, and I'm at No. 16 Yuting Street. When will you be coming out?"
"So soon? Wait for me a moment, I'll get ready and be there in a few minutes."
"Okay, no rush, I'll wait for you here."
He hung up the phone, leaned back in his seat, and dozed off for a while.
About six or seven minutes later, Shen Xuewei saw her aunt wearing high heels, carrying a bag in one hand and a bag of things in the other, walking quickly toward the car.
Looking through the window, she saw Shen Xuewei sitting in the back seat, so she opened the door and sat down in the back seat as well.
"Master, that's enough, let's go. Thank you for coming to pick me up."
Brother Lu shook his head, "It's nothing, it's what I should do."
After seeing that Chen Fanglan was seated and the car door was closed, he started the car and drove out of the old street.
With familiar and trusted people sitting in the car, Shen Xuewei softly called out "Auntie," and her whole heart relaxed.
Just as she was about to lie back down and close her eyes to sleep, the enthusiastic Chen Fanglan cupped her face in both hands and rubbed it.
"I heard you and your second uncle went out for several days. How was it? Did you have fun? Did you miss your aunt?"
Shen Xuewei's face was pinched in one spot, and it took a lot of effort to pry her hand off her face.
She rubbed her face and said in a slightly perfunctory tone, "Yes, of course I miss my aunt."
When Chen Fanglan saw her like that, she knew that she probably hadn't gotten up at all.
She said sadly, "Sigh, Weiwei is getting older and older, and she's not close to her aunt anymore."
Shen Xuewei sighed, rummaged in her backpack, and took out a lipstick for her.
