Chapter 126 The Lazy Second Uncle

Chapter 126 The Lazy Second Uncle

Grandma Xi was taken aback. "There's no room at home. She's been staying somewhere else for the past few months."

"Sure, we can build a house so she can come back and help with cooking. That way, you won't have to be so busy, right?"

Chen Fangli chimed in, "Oh dear, she's so small and thin, how many people can she cook for? Besides, it's just cooking, I don't mind the effort, why would I need her help?"

"What, you can't eat what I made? If you're not going to eat it, then go find something to eat yourself later."

"Oh, not at all, I was just saying it offhand."

The man gave an awkward smile, lowered his head, and continued eating without saying another word.

After they finished eating, they went back to digging the foundation.

Grandpa Chen didn't see Chen Fangyang while he was eating. After everyone had left, he got angry, went upstairs, and dragged Chen Fangyang down.

"You were lazy before marriage, and you're even lazier after. I'm sending you home to work, not to lie around lying around."

"If you're this lazy even at home, what will you do if you starve to death outside?"

Chen Fangyang shook off his grandfather's arm, rubbed his ear which had been pinched so hard, and said nonchalantly:

"Oh dear, I already said I'll be back, but whether I'll actually do any work is another matter."

"Besides, do I need to go out and earn money? Fang'er can support me, can't she?"

"Dad, you're worrying too much about these things. They're not even real."

Grandpa Chen was so angry at what he said that he took off his shoes and chased after him to hit him. It was Grandma Xi who managed to stop him.

"Alright, alright, you know that's just his personality."

"Anyway, he's not much better at his job. It doesn't matter if he's one more or one less. Let him be. As long as he doesn't go astray like Ah Qiu, it's fine."

Chen Fangqiu yawned, got up, and went to the side to smoke a cigarette.

Grandma Xi brought up Chen Fangqiu for comparison, and Grandpa Chen... Grandpa Chen felt that what she said was damnably true.

He sighed, finally said nothing more, put on his straw hat, and walked towards the crowd.

Seeing that Grandpa Chen seemed to have compromised, Chen Fangyang's eyes darted around, he went back into the house to get his car keys, and quietly drove away.

Shen Xuewei and Chu De'an watched TV at the Tang family's house for a while in the morning before going home for lunch.

Chu Fu had prepared the meal and was waiting for the two of them to come home.

He was physically weaker than the average person. He could manage to work in the fields occasionally, but Chen Fangli didn't let him help with the house construction.

Chen Fangli managed everything at home and outside, and Chu Fu only needed to follow her instructions.

There wasn't much work to be done in the fields lately, so Chen Fangli went to help out at the Chen family's house, while Chu Fu stayed home to look after the house and do chores.

After the four finished lunch, Shen Xuewei cleared the bowls, but before she could take them to wash, Chu Fu took them from her.

"I'll do the dishes. Vivi, can you help De'an with his homework? I get a headache just watching him do it."

"Okay, Uncle, I'll take care of it."

Shen Xuewei then asked Chu De'an to take out his homework and supervise him to do it.

After finally helping Chu De'an finish his homework, Shen Xuewei was completely exhausted.

She's a fake kid; she doesn't need to be nagged to do her homework. But Chu De'an is a real kid; doing his homework is like a nightmare for him.

Seven-year-old Chu De'an is now in the second grade, starting school a little earlier than some other children.

He is lively and active, and can't sit still while writing anything.

When I had him practice calligraphy, he wrote the same character on a whole page, from the first to the last, and it had become two completely different characters.

Chu De'an lay on the homework book, observing Shen Xuewei's expression.

When Shen Xuewei finally stopped sighing and the two lines between her eyebrows relaxed, he carefully tugged at her clothes.

"Sis, I've finished my homework. Can we go play with Little Fatty and Tang Tang now?"

Seeing his expectant look, Shen Xuewei nodded, "Okay, let's go have fun then."

Chu De'an cheered, closed his homework, and urged Shen Xuewei to hurry up and leave.

Shen Xuewei took a hat out of the room, put it on, and walked towards Xiao Pang's house with Chu De'an.

They had already made an appointment with Little Fatty in the morning, saying that he would come to play beanbag toss with them in the afternoon.

Six or seven children gathered in the open space in front of Xiaopang's house. Once everyone was there, Xiaopang took out the sandbags he had prepared.

Shen Xuewei leaped up and dodged the sandbag attack.

Just as she was getting ready to dodge the next round, she suddenly heard someone calling her name. Distracted, she was hit.

She picked up the sandbag and looked towards the roadside in confusion.

Apart from the occasional passing vehicle, there's nothing there!

She turned her head, stood at one end, waited for the right moment, and threw the sandbag at the children in the middle.

Several children squealed and dodged the attack with great agility, cheerfully shouting, "Again! Again!"

After playing for a while, a voice calling her name grew closer and closer.

Shen Xuewei handed the sandbag in her hand to the child next to her and walked away.

The voice sounded quite familiar, and she wanted to see who was calling her so urgently.

The peek out from the corner of the wall and made eye contact with the person coming in.

The man, who had a limp, reached out and put his hand on Shen Xuewei's shoulder.

Shen Xuewei's shoulders slumped, then she strained to straighten them, and said in surprise:

"Second Uncle, shouldn't you be building a house in the village? Why are you here?"

Chen Fangyang spoke in a weak voice, but with a straight face, "I'm just too tired to do anything, so I came to play with you."

"Hmm..." Shen Xuewei nodded; it was indeed her familiar second uncle.

Her gaze shifted downwards, landing on Chen Fangyang's feet. "Second Uncle, what happened to your leg?"

Chen Fangyang gasped, "I twisted my ankle and then fell."

"Stop talking about that. My foot is really hurting terribly. You need to take me to the doctor right away."

While playing, Chu De'an didn't see Shen Xuewei, so he left his friends and walked towards Shen Xuewei and her companion.

"Sis, aren't you done playing?"

"I'm not playing anymore. My second uncle just fell and hurt his leg. I'm taking him to the doctor."

Chu De looked down and saw that Chen Fangyang's ankle was swollen, and the swelling was very obvious.

"I'll go with you."

The child behind them asked loudly, "De'an, Sister Vivi, aren't you going to play anymore?"

Chu De'an shouted, "I'm not playing anymore. My second uncle's leg is broken, and my sister and I are going to take him to see a doctor."

Chen Fangyang's lips twitched slightly.

His condition wasn't that serious.

The two men, one on each side, helped Chen Fangyang walk towards Fuman Village.

In the clinic in Fuman Village, there's an old traditional Chinese medicine doctor who's said to be incredibly skilled at treating leg ailments and other ailments.

The three of them entered the clinic and helped Chen Fangyang towards the old Chinese medicine doctor.

The old Chinese medicine doctor bent down and took a look, and he knew exactly how to get back.

"Okay, I understand."

"You, you sit down in the chair first, I'll treat you."

Chen Fangyang nodded.

As soon as he sat down, the old Chinese medicine doctor grabbed his foot, twisted and turned it left and right, and then let go.

"Alright, that's enough."

Chen Fangyang was stunned. "That's it?"

The old Chinese medicine doctor said, "Take a few steps and see."

Chen Fangyang stood up suspiciously and took two tentative steps.

It still hurts a little, but it's not serious. I just twisted it a couple of times and it was cured.
