Chapter 170 Suddenly Stuck
After Shen Xuewei finished eating and drinking, Chen Fanglan, who was at home, decided to take a nap in her room since it wasn't appropriate to go to an internet cafe.
When I woke up, I got up to use the bathroom and glanced into the living room. I saw Chen Fanglan leaning against the sofa reading a novel, looking completely absorbed.
Shen Xuewei ignored her and, after coming out of the restroom, took out her summer homework and continued writing.
After finishing a novel, Chen Fanglan noticed Shen Xuewei diligently doing her homework.
She took a closer look and realized that she didn't know any of the questions.
She was a terrible student back in her school days, and after all these years, she's even worse.
She didn't disturb Shen Xuewei while she was doing her homework, also because she was afraid that Shen Xuewei wouldn't finish and would be scolded by her grandfather when she got back.
She rummaged around in the corner and found a hula hoop that she hadn't used in a long time, and spun it for about ten minutes.
After a short workout, she picked out a new novel from a tall stack of books and started reading.
The two spent a quiet afternoon together until Shen Xuewei's stomach started rumbling.
Chen Fanglan looked up at the clock on the wall. "It's almost six o'clock. Weiwei, you stay home. Auntie is going out to buy groceries. Today, Auntie will show off her culinary skills and cook for you."
Shen Xuewei nodded, "Okay, then Auntie, you go ahead. I'll wait to eat tonight, and I'll wash the dishes after we finish."
When Shen Xuewei cooks, Chen Fanglan will wash the dishes herself after eating.
Chen Fanglan changed into high heels and went out. "Just wait at home. Since you're home, I won't bring my keys. I'll open the door for you when I get back."
"Okay, Auntie, remember to call them later."
Chen Fanglan walked downstairs in her high heels and disappeared into the distance; it's unclear whether she heard Shen Xuewei's words.
Shen Xuewei finally finished her math and English homework.
I've completed about half of my summer homework.
It's not even August yet, and as long as she's willing to write, she'll definitely be able to finish all her summer homework.
I put away my completed homework, and just then I heard familiar footsteps outside the door.
Shen Xuewei stretched and, anticipating that the person was almost at the door, suddenly opened it with a "whoosh".
Chen Fanglan withdrew her hand, which was about to knock on the door, and glared at her.
"You scared me."
Shen Xuewei chuckled, pushed her shoulder to go inside, and then closed the door.
While Chen Fanglan cooked, Shen Xuewei washed the vegetables.
After finishing their meal, they voluntarily went to wash the dishes.
Chen Fanglan recently resolved several things that had been troubling her. Even though she was a little unhappy at noon today, she put them all behind her by evening.
Shen Xuewei lay on the bed, playing the games that came with her learning machine.
Chen Fanglan was reading a novel when she suddenly tugged at Chen Xuewei's clothes and pulled her over.
"Hey, Weiwei, tell your aunt how you met Hua Yunbi, how old is she, and where is she from?"
Shen Xuewei let her pull her over, but she didn't dare to meet her eyes.
She mumbled, "Didn't I tell you before? We're pen pals... that's how we met. We've never met in person, how would I know her age? She's probably from around here..."
Chen Fanglan became even more excited, "Is he from around here? I never imagined that someone from our area would produce a writer..."
The more she talked, the easier it would be to give herself away. Shen Xuewei put down the learning machine in her hand and pretended to be sleepy.
"Oh dear, Auntie, I'm not talking to you anymore. I'm sleepy and I want to go to bed."
She pulled the thin blanket over her face, covering herself completely.
Chen Fanglan glared at her, "You usually go to bed at ten o'clock, how come you're sleepy at only nine o'clock?"
Shen Xuewei didn't speak, but deliberately made snoring noises.
Chen Fanglan had no choice but to give up. "Fine, fine, if you don't want to talk about it, then I won't ask anymore."
Shen Xuewei's snoring stopped instantly, and she began to sleep normally.
Chen Fanglan continued to go to work as usual, and during her breaks, she would take Shen Xuewei to walk around the county.
When the manuscript for "A Worthy Opponent: The Cunning Young Lady's Exclusive CEO" reached 500,000 words, August finally arrived.
After nearly twenty days of coming to the internet cafe, the first conflict that Shen Xuewei witnessed finally occurred there.
Two teenagers pooled their money to go online, but because one of them played for a few more minutes, they started fighting. People nearby were so frightened that they ran away.
Shen Xuewei straightened up, making sure to save the document she had written to the drafts folder in her email before craning her neck to watch the excitement.
The owner of the illegal internet cafe struggled to swallow the instant noodles stuck in his throat, quickly squeezed to the back, and shouted:
"Hey, you guys smashed my keyboard, you owe me a hundred yuan!"
"No, my mouse is broken too, you have to pay me fifty!"
"And this chair of mine, it was perfectly fine when I bought it, how did you manage to break one of its legs from sitting on it? Let me tell you, you owe me at least a hundred yuan for this chair!"
"And my trash can..."
After the two teenagers finished fighting, the internet cafe owner calculated that they owed a huge sum of 350 yuan.
People who would fight over who gets to play computer games a few more minutes probably don't have much money left to pay their boss.
This wasn't the first time the boss had encountered something like this. He got the parents' number from the two people and called them.
Less than ten minutes later, both sets of parents rushed over to pick them up.
At one of the boys' homes, he heard the internet cafe owner say he had to pay compensation. He nodded, counted out 175 yuan from his pocket and gave it to the owner, then grabbed the boy's ear and left.
The other boy was accompanied by an elderly couple, presumably his grandparents.
Upon hearing that they would have to pay compensation, the two immediately changed their expressions.
"Pah! What kind of lousy place is this? You want to pay compensation? I think you're the one who should be paying compensation to my family!"
"My grandson is not even fifteen yet. Who told you to let him in? Playing on the computer too much is affecting his studies. Can you take responsibility for that?"
"Pay back? I'll pay back, but it's not my grandson who's paying back, it's you paying back my grandson! Hurry up!"
The internet cafe owner, amused by the unreasonable old woman, pointed to the uninvolved old man standing to the side and said:
"Hey old man, aren't you going to do anything about this?"
The old man glanced at her and quickly shook his head, saying, "Hey, how could I possibly control her? She manages everything, inside and outside the house. I can't control her..."
The internet cafe owner laughed angrily, "You can't control it, huh? Then I'll send someone to take care of it properly."
This old man may seem indifferent, but as the man of the house, if he really wanted to manage things, how could he not be able to?
Since he insists on making trouble here, then don't blame him for being impolite.
He made two phone calls, and as the roar of a motorcycle came from outside, two bald, tattooed men walked in with their arms crossed and an imposing air.
"Who dares to cause trouble on my brother's turf?"
Looking at the two men's bulging muscles and huge fists, the old woman suddenly choked and fell silent.
