Chapter 221 Destined to Live on Campus
Shen Xuewei trusted her words implicitly and nodded with a smile.
"Okay, I believe Auntie."
Shen Xuewei has been an investor in the beauty salon for so long, but she has never received a single penny of dividends.
The store was introducing new equipment and hiring new employees at the same time, and the profit sharing couldn't retain them at all.
Even if there were any left over, she simply told Chen Fanglan to handle them herself, and to take priority for paying off her debts.
Currently, both beauty salons have sufficient staff and equipment, and Chen Fanglan can use the dividends from the next few months to pay off her debts.
It is expected that Chen Fanglan will be able to pay off her debts by the end of the year.
Next year, the portion of the dividends owed to Shen Xuewei will be paid to her.
Chen Fanglan did the math in her head and couldn't help but feel a little happier. She simply took out a bottle of beer and wanted to celebrate with Shen Xuewei in advance.
Shen Xuewei only filled the cup halfway and drank from it, refusing to drink any more.
Chen Fanglan tilted her head back and downed the rest of her beer in one gulp, then opened a bottle of baijiu.
Shen Xuewei knew that her aunt was always a heavy drinker.
But seeing her drink a bottle of beer and then most of a bottle of baijiu, I couldn't help but gasp.
In the entire Chen family, only Chen Fangqiu is probably better at drinking than her.
As Chen Fanglan drank, tears suddenly welled up in her eyes.
Her eyes were slightly red, and her voice had become choked with emotion.
"Weiwei, you have no idea how much I struggled with whether or not to take over Platinum Joy Skin Research Center. I thought about it for days. After taking it over, the pressure was immense. I even dreamt about the store going bankrupt..."
Shen Xuewei listened silently, letting her vent all the pressure she was under.
"But thankfully, dreams and reality are opposites. I didn't go bankrupt, and I'm even slowly paying off my debts. As long as I get through this year, next year will be a good year for me."
She chuckled, holding her wine glass, then tilted her head back and took a sip of wine before swaying as she stood up.
"My good days are coming!"
Just when Chen Fanglan thought her good days were about to begin, she plummeted to the ground and fell fast asleep.
Shen Xuewei was startled at first, but after realizing what was happening, she quickly went forward to check on her.
Her breathing was steady, with the occasional snore... Shen Xuewei breathed a sigh of relief.
Her aunt's drinking manners were much better than her uncle's.
My uncle doesn't get drunk easily.
But when he gets drunk, he goes on a rampage.
My aunt, on the other hand, would fall asleep as soon as she got drunk.
She struggled to help Chen Fanglan up and took her back to her room to sleep.
After cleaning up the messy dining table and washing the dishes, I peeked into Chen Fanglan's room to take another look at her before returning to my own room to continue typing, feeling reassured.
When Chen Fanglan woke up, it was already four o'clock the next morning.
She sat up blankly, feeling a headache coming on.
Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed water in a glass on the bedside table. She swallowed hard, drank the water in the glass, and finally felt a little better.
She had slept for too long and was no longer sleepy.
She stared at the ceiling for a long time, tears streaming down her face, but a smile gradually appeared on her lips.
Shen Xuewei didn't stay up too late the night before and got up promptly at eight o'clock in the morning.
She pushed open the door and saw Chen Fanglan dressed in home clothes, sitting in the living room reading a book.
Chen Fanglan looked up at her and said, "Get up! I made breakfast. Remember to eat it later. Tell me what you want to eat for lunch, and I'll cook today."
Shen Xuewei glanced out onto the balcony.
Did the sun rise in the west today?
Chen Fanglan could tell what Shen Xuewei was thinking just by looking at her.
She put down the book in her hand and said irritably, "Stop reading. It's definitely your aunt. The sun didn't rise in the west."
Shen Xuewei touched her nose. "Auntie, aren't you going to the shop?"
Chen Fanglan crossed her shapely, straight legs and sighed comfortably.
"I'm not going today. I'm taking a day off. Besides, my two store managers aren't just for show. I feel very reassured with them looking after the store."
She took out a face mask from the side and was about to put it on when she suddenly stopped, squinting at Shen Xuewei.
"I rarely have time to spend at home with you, aren't you happy?"
Shen Xuewei honestly replied, "I'm happy. However, Auntie, I have things to do and can't keep you company."
Chen Fanglan asked in bewilderment, "Aren't you on vacation now? What else do you have to do? You never go out for a stroll, you just stay at home all day."
Shen Xuewei sighed, "Auntie, I need to earn money. My editor has been urging me to write a book lately."
After she said that, Chen Fanglan realized what was going on.
She waved her hand dismissively, "It's alright, you can write whatever you want, your aunt won't bother you, but you have to let your aunt take a look."
Shen Xuewei's disguise has been exposed, so she's not afraid of being seen by her.
As long as it doesn't interfere with her creative process, she has no objections.
After breakfast, she dragged Chen Fanglan downstairs for a workout before returning to her writing.
Chen Fanglan found a small stool, sat down next to her, and watched her type on the keyboard.
Shen Xuewei typed on the keyboard non-stop, and line after line of text appeared on the document.
Chen Fanglan was dazzled by the sheer volume of writing and couldn't help but ask, "Weiwei, how did you come up with the idea to write so much?"
Shen Xuewei casually said, "Write down whatever comes to mind. Also, jot down any inspirations you have in your notebook. Gradually, you'll be able to write more."
After asking one question, Chen Fanglan asked a second one.
After answering her nth question, Shen Xuewei stopped typing and turned around to stare at her intently.
"Auntie, why don't you go to work? You're really affecting me."
Chen Fanglan gave a dry laugh and reiterated her promise.
"Weiwei, trust your aunt. This time, your aunt will definitely not say anything and will definitely not disturb you while you are writing your book."
Shen Xuewei stared at her for a while, then reluctantly believed her again.
This time, Chen Fanglan stayed by her side and did not disturb her further.
Seeing that Shen Xuewei was completely absorbed in writing, Chen Fanglan sat beside her for a while, but she couldn't sit still any longer.
She got up, went back to the living room, picked up the novel she hadn't finished reading, and continued reading.
It was eleven o'clock when she went out to buy groceries and came back to cook.
Even after the meal was ready at 12:30, Shen Xuewei was still sitting in front of the computer, typing away furiously.
Chen Fanglan sighed and whispered a reminder to Shen Xuewei:
"Weiwei, come and eat!"
The sound of typing stopped, Shen Xuewei stretched, and slowly dragged herself to sit down at the dining table.
Chen Fanglan glanced at her and suddenly said, "Your maternal grandfather enrolled you in Luli No. 1 Middle School. But No. 1 Middle School isn't in the center of the county; it's almost on the edge of Luli County."
"I reckon you'll have to live on campus again."
Shen Xuewei remained calm. "I know. I inquired about it beforehand."
That's not just the edge, it's almost the very edge.
The closest place is not Luli County, but a nearby village.
After learning that her maternal grandfather had arranged for her to attend Luli No. 1 Middle School...
No, no matter which high school she attends, she's destined to live on campus.
