Chapter 10 Zhang Shuai
The talent market in the northern suburbs of the ancient city is busiest at 8 a.m.
Tian Xin followed the crowd and looked for people one by one, and finally saw Zhang Shuai who was waiting for work.
He hadn't changed at all, still looking slovenly, wearing dirty clothes and his hair was a mess.
"Has your hair been taken over by a chicken? Why does it look like this?" As she approached Zhang Shuai, she couldn't help but complain a few words.
"Boss, is that you? Why are you here?" Zhang Shuai was very surprised to see her. He jumped up from the stairs and patted the dirt off his butt.
"Okay, you haven't forgotten me yet. I came to find you. By the way, I want to see if you are still alive?"
"How could I forget? Boss, I'm alive and well. Have you eaten? Let's go have a meal." Zhang Shuai said with a smile.
"Okay, I'll treat you."
"No, I have to treat you."
The two came to a breakfast stall and chatted while eating.
"You mean, if I go back to lead the team, will the salary be high? Will it be stable?"
"It's better than doing odd jobs like you do here. What do you think? Do you want to do it?"
"Is there such a good thing? What exactly is it for?"
"I'm a truck driver, hauling stones from the mountains to the village. I make 1,500 yuan a month. If I become the team leader, I can get an extra 500 yuan. Do you want to do it?"
"You mean the stone quarry in the village?"
"Yes, how about it? Can you do it?"
"Of course, of course. Boss, you're going to do it right away? You're still thinking about me, your little brother? That's very considerate." Zhang Shuai took a bite of the fried dough stick and said while eating.
"Stop calling me 'Big Brother' all the time. If you call me by my name, you're actually two years older than me. What would people think I do if they hear me?"
"That won't work. You have to be the boss!" Zhang Shuai laughed twice and asked, "Does the team need a lot of people?"
"At least five. Do you think you can find them?"
"Five is no problem. I'll contact my former coworkers and ask. But it might take a few days. I need to call and ask if they have any jobs now."
"Okay, go ahead and ask. Then give me a reply."
Looking at Zhang Shuai's current state, Tian Xin suddenly felt a little uncomfortable. This man had been wandering alone for a year, darker and thinner. He didn't even have a single nice piece of clothing.
"Zhang Shuai, have you been hanging around like this for the past year? You didn't even tell me where you were when you called me?"
"Well, just messing around. There's no one at home anyway, so it doesn't matter where I am!" Zhang Shuai said nonchalantly, "After that incident, we were all fired, and I can't find a suitable job, so I'm just messing around for now! As long as I don't starve to death, that's all that matters!"
Zhang Shuai smiled bitterly. Looking at his helpless look, she felt uncomfortable for a moment and couldn't help but recall the first time she met Zhang Shuai.
That was when she had just been reborn. One day, she was on her way to the county to deliver dates to a dried fruit shop when she ran into Zhang Shuai at the village entrance.
This guy hasn't been in school since he graduated from junior high school, and he's been acting like a spoiled brat in the village all day long.
She had heard of these things a long time ago, but the two families lived far away from each other, and Zhang Shuai was two years older than her, so they had little interaction.
When Zhang Shuai saw her holding food, he ran over to her and asked for some. When she refused, Zhang Shuai grabbed a handful.
"What are you doing? I'm selling this. If you want to eat, you have to pay for it."
"I'm eating two dates from you because I think highly of you. Stop complaining here. Do you know who I am?" Zhang Shuai was very arrogant at that time!
"You won't give it to me, right? Okay, come with me to your house. I have to talk to your parents." Tian Xin pulled Zhang Shuai to argue.
"What are you looking for? Do you know who I am?" Zhang Shuai pointed at himself.
"I know him. He's the little rascal Zhang Shuai! Everyone in this village knows him."
"Who are you calling a little hooligan?"
"Who else?"
"It seems that if I don't teach you a lesson today, you won't know your own last name." Zhang Shuai raised his hand and wanted to hit her in the face, but before he could lower his hand, she kicked him in the leg, causing him to scream in pain.
"you……"
"I..." She pointed at herself, looked at Zhang Shuai, and walked away with the basket.
Zhang Shuai was both hurt and angry and wanted to catch up with her, but she had already gotten into the car and left.
When she came back in the afternoon, Zhang Shuai was still waiting at the village entrance. As soon as he saw her appear, he rushed over and wanted to beat her.
"Don't be impulsive, don't be impulsive. Impulsiveness is the devil. I was wrong this morning. Look, I saved some dates just for you. I'll give them all to you."
Zhang Shuai had been sitting at the village entrance all day, feeling dizzy with hunger. Seeing food, all thoughts of revenge vanished from his mind. He clutched the basket and gobbled it up, devouring it in a matter of minutes.
"My goodness, you finished two kilograms of dates just like that? Did you taste it?" She was stunned. This guy looked like a starving ghost reincarnated.
"Sweet. I won't bother with you today because of the dates. Will there be any tomorrow?" Zhang Shuai asked.
"Are you a beggar? Today isn't even over yet, and you're already thinking about tomorrow?" She snatched the basket away.
"That's about right!" Zhang Shuai said muffledly, lowering his head. "My dad is out playing cards all day, and my mom ran away a long time ago. I'm the only one at home, and no one takes care of me."
"You..." She sighed and said, feeling somewhat reluctant: "You are already so grown up, why can't you go out and find a job? You have hands and feet, but you can't do anything. Why do you have to eat and drink for free in the village?"
"I want to, but I have no skills or craftsmanship. No one wants me to do the work I find, and I have no money. What else can I do?" Zhang Shuai looked helpless.
"I'm really impressed! I wish you could just have enough food to eat now."
"You can do it, you have the ability. If you have the ability, find me a job." Zhang Shuai looked at her and said.
"Where can I find you a job..." She started to say halfway, then thought of how he had just wolfed down his food, and softened her heart and changed the subject: "Well...it's not impossible. Well, I'll go to the ancient city to study soon. Then I'll see if there's a job suitable for you."
"Really? Can you find me a job?" Zhang Shuai's eyes lit up. He grabbed her hand and said excitedly, "If you can find one, you'll be my boss. I'll hang out with you and protect you. If you have anyone you don't like, tell me and I'll take care of them for you."
"Hey, hey, hey, let go!" she shouted at Zhang Shuai.
"Oh, sorry!" Zhang Shuai let go of his hand and looked pitiful!
"Okay, I'll look for it. Don't hang around for a while, just stay home and tidy up, and wait for my news."
She didn't know why she had brought such trouble upon herself. She had clearly intended to stay away from this thug, but in the end she had even agreed to help him find a job. This guy was always causing trouble, how could he possibly do a good job?
But she still found a job for Zhang Shuai at a cement factory. He started out loading and unloading, but when the factory needed truck drivers, she encouraged Zhang Shuai to get a driver's license.
Although this guy usually seems unreliable, after becoming a truck driver, he worked very hard and was even named an "excellent employee." He was also loyal to his colleagues and soon became the team leader.
But within a few years, he got into trouble.
That day, the factory was closed for the holiday, and Zhang Shuai invited his colleagues for dinner and drinks. The waiter at the restaurant made a mistake, serving their table a plate of stir-fried pork from the table next to them. The waiters were too careless to notice.
We were almost done eating when the waiter noticed the situation when the table next to us started clamoring for food.
"I'm sorry, the wrong dish was served. I'll redo it for you right away. Please wait a few minutes. It will be ready soon." The waiter apologized cautiously.
"You made a mistake. Just say you made a mistake and you're dismissed." The other party didn't buy it.
"I'm so sorry, this dish is free for you." The waiter was so scared that he had to smile cautiously.
"No, that won't work. Who's to blame for wasting our time? If you want it for free, then the whole meal is free. What's the big deal about a free dish?"
"We're just a small business, so please be considerate and don't make things difficult for me."
"Who gave you a hard time? You served the wrong dish, and you're still feeling wronged? Go call your boss."
At this time, one of Zhang Shuai's co-workers couldn't stand it anymore and advised the people at that table.
"Don't make it difficult for the little girl. I promised to make a dish for you."
"Who do you think you are to teach me a lesson?" The man took a wine bottle and smashed it on Zhang Shuai's co-worker's head.
Zhang Shuai was already drunk, and when he saw this, he went up and returned the bottle of wine to the man without saying a word.
When someone got hurt, the people over there flipped over the table. These people were all in their twenties and acted without regard for the consequences.
The store called the police, both sides compensated each other, and the matter was over.
Just a few days later, Zhang Shuai and his teammates were all fired.
"Why? We are doing a good job, why do you fire us?" Zhang Shuai ran to ask the foreman in charge of their fleet.
"Why? Do you know who you hit that day?" the foreman asked back.
"Who is he? What does he have to do with my work?"
"He's Director Liu's son. If you kill his son, how can he let you stay here?"
“…”
"Boss, what are you thinking about?" Zhang Shuai waved his hand in front of Tian Xin, bringing her back to her senses.
"So, you just disappeared? It's been a year, and I don't even know where you are? You didn't even tell me when I called you."
"I'm too embarrassed to see you," Zhang Shuai said. "Then how did you find this place?"
"The number you called last time showed up in this area. I figured you were nearby, so I came here to try my luck. I didn't expect I'd be so lucky to find you right away."
"Really?" Zhang Shuai smiled. "As expected of the boss, college students have sharp minds."
"Okay, stop being so joking. How about it? Can we do it? Can we find these five people? I need an experienced driver."
"Don't worry, Boss. I'll let you know in a day or two."
"Hurry up and clean up your miserable look and cut your hair!" Tian Xin slapped the back of Zhang Shuai's head in disgust.
"Ah? I just made it. It's called non-mainstream and very popular now." Zhang Shuai looked reluctant.
"What do you mean by non-mainstream? Don't you see how old you are? You're in your twenties, not a child anymore? Cut it off quickly, okay? What will the villagers think of you?
If you don't cut it, I'll do it myself, and don't blame me if it gets messed up." Tian Xin followed Zhang Shuai and chattered like an old woman.
"Oh, okay, okay, I'll cut it, okay? You are the boss, you win!" Zhang Shuai looked at his hair with a helpless look on his face.
What a pity, I just did a hairstyle!
After the two finished their meal, Tian Xin went to the ancient city to look for classmates! Zhang Shuai went to contact his former coworker, but he didn't know if he could form the team.
