Chapter 15 Leaving

Chapter 15 Leaving

When he got home, Lin Qiu took out the bag of food and sorted it out. He saw a red envelope hidden in the bag, wrapped in red paper, with three hundred yuan inside, and on the back it was written: Have a safe journey.

Lin Qiu's tears fell in big drops.

Her father is over 50 years old and still works in a prefabrication factory for his children. He has to lift countless cement boards and move countless cement bricks to save up the three hundred yuan. He and his mother were reluctant to eat or wear anything, and almost all of their savings were given to their children, especially her.

Whether in the past life or now, in their eyes, her family was poor and her conditions were poor, so they gave her more subsidies, contributed money and effort without asking for anything in return.

Wang Xiuren was also filled with emotion, thinking that he was very lucky to have met such a good Yue family.

When I needed money to build a house, my father-in-law would send it to me on his own initiative; when I went out to work, my mother-in-law would secretly give me money. The sum of these two sums is probably my father-in-law’s savings for a year.

The contrast between my own parents is too obvious, so I’d better not mention it.

After finally stopping the tears, Lin Qiu turned to look at Wang Xiuren and said, "No matter whether we have money or not in the future, we must treat my parents well."

"Of course!" Wang Xiuren nodded. "When I have more money in the future, I will take them out to play and see the big cities!"

"Yeah!" Wang Shan nodded.

Lin Qiu tapped her little head and said, "You are just a tiny kid, just nod your head if you know anything."

"Go out and play."

Wang Shan blurted out something, causing Lin Qiu and Wang Xiuren to burst out laughing. No matter what the future holds, at least right now, life is peaceful.

On the last day, Lin Qiu sorted out the things she was going to take and stuffed two large suitcases full. She and Wang Xiuren would each carry one, and Wang Shan would be held in Wang Xiuren's arms, so that it would be safer.

After dinner, Wang Xiuren took his daughter to the old house to say goodbye. Lin Qiu did not go with them, saying that there were still some things that had not been packed. Unexpectedly, the father and daughter came back soon.

Lin Qiu looked at the silent Wang Xiuren and guessed that his parents probably didn't say anything nice.

Since Wang Xiuren didn't intend to say anything, Lin Qiu didn't bother to ask. Anyway, they were far away from each other in the future, so out of sight, out of mind.

The family of three washed up early, went to bed, and rested their energy.

The next day was a nice day.

Lin Qiu cooked the noodles early in the morning. The three of them quickly finished their breakfast, washed the dishes, and prepared to set off.

Wang Xiuren was carrying a bag on his shoulder and holding another bag in his hand, with Wang Shan tied to his chest with a baby carrier. Lin Qiu was holding the food that Zhou Qing had prepared that day in his right hand and a large enamel teacup in his left hand, which contained a bag of eggs cooked in the morning.

The tractor contacted by Wang Xiuren first took the two people to the town, and then they took a bus from the town to Yancheng, and then took a bus to the train station.

The train from Yancheng to Pengcheng takes more than eight hours. There are more than ten platforms in between, some large and some small. Taking into account delays, the trip is estimated to take about ten hours.

Although it is the second month of the lunar calendar and there are not so many people traveling, the train station is still very crowded and there is chaos when boarding the train.

Wang Xiuren was more experienced. He carried the bag in one hand and protected his daughter in the other. He also told Lin Qiu to grab the strap of the luggage bag on his back and squeeze forward.

After finally squeezing onto the bus and finding a seat, I discovered that Wang Shan was sobbing. She was probably frightened by the chaos, but her voice was so soft and the noise around her was so loud that no one noticed.

Lin Qiu quickly put down what he was holding, took Wang Shan down from Wang Xiuren's chest, held her in his arms and coaxed her softly.

Wang Xiuren also quickly put the luggage on the shelf and rubbed his right hand and shoulder which were red from being strangled.

Wang Shan was quickly coaxed into calm, and her big eyes, soaked with tears, looked around curiously.

Amid the rumble and whistle of the train, Lin Qiu's family's journey to Pengdian officially began.

Lin Qiu took out eggs and biscuits for lunch, and asked Wang Xiuren to take the teacup to get water.

The way to fetch water was very difficult. The empty spaces in the aisle were either filled with people or things. Wang Xiuren was afraid of stepping on people, so he jumped around like a monkey, looking very embarrassed.

"Shanshan, do you think dad looks like a monkey?" Lin Qiu pointed at Wang Xiuren's back and said to Wang Shan with a smile.

Wang Shan looked around in the direction Lin Qiu pointed, but the big brother opposite laughed when he heard what Lin Qiu said.

"Sister, don't mind it, I didn't mean to make you laugh." The eldest brother explained anxiously.

Sitting opposite was a couple who had just got on the bus from Yancheng.

Although it was not Lin Qiu's first time to travel far away, he was actually very nervous, especially since he was taking his daughter with him and Wang Xiuren was not at home.

Trains are a mixed bag, and there are so many pickpockets and kidnappers hiding there.

So Lin Qiu just smiled, didn't say anything, and continued to tease his daughter.

"Where are you going, girl?" The sister-in-law opposite was a little enthusiastic. "From your accent, we are from the same hometown. I'm from Qingshanqiao, where are you from?"

"Let's go to the city to work." Lin Qiu didn't dare to be too honest and spoke vaguely.

"Which city? There are so many cities out there." asked the sister-in-law.

"Pengcheng."

Wang Xiuren had just come back from fetching water and answered his sister-in-law.

The eldest sister-in-law slapped her thigh and said excitedly, "Oh, what a coincidence, we are also going to Pengcheng. Lao Zhao, tell me, is this a coincidence?"

"What a coincidence!" The eldest brother agreed, "Where are you going to Pengcheng?"

"I don't know yet." Wang Xiuren was a little embarrassed. He went to Pengcheng to work, but he knew nothing about Pengcheng. "It's my first time there. I'll go wherever I see that carpenters are needed!"

"You are also a carpenter?" The eldest brother was amazed, feeling that he had a deeper affinity with the family of three. "If you don't mind, come with me when you get off the bus. My cousin is a carpenter in Baoan, and I work with him."

Just as Wang Xiuren was about to agree, Lin Qiu pulled his sleeve and the sister-in-law opposite saw him.

Lin Qiu felt a little embarrassed and her face turned red instantly. She quickly picked up Wang Shan to cover her face. Unexpectedly, Wang Shan thought her mother was playing with her, so she moved around and refused to cooperate.

"Young girls are just too shy!" The eldest sister-in-law said frankly, "What's the big deal? When you go out, who wouldn't be a little cautious?"

"I'm so sorry, brother and sister-in-law. I know you mean well, but I seldom go out and I have my daughter with me, so I'm a little nervous. Please excuse me!" Lin Qiu put his daughter down and explained quickly.

"You have a little kid with you, so you should be cautious." The eldest brother was very generous and took out his ID card directly. "I'm Zhao Dalong, from Qingshan Town, and this is my wife Zhang Guixiang."

"We don't just talk to people when we meet them. We just feel that we are destined to meet you. We sat behind you on the bus to Yancheng, and when we got on the train, we found that you sat opposite us. When we asked, we found out that we were both going to Pengcheng, and your wife was traveling with us as well. Do you think this fate is rare?"

Zhao Dalong's sincere explanation dispelled Lin Qiu's suspicion. Lin Qiu did not hide anything and told Zhao Dalong and his wife about his family's situation. The two families also shared food together and quickly became familiar with each other.

Fate is indeed a magical thing. It allows two strangers to meet each other by chance and quickly form a friendship. In the days that followed, the two families huddled together and comforted each other in a foreign land.
