Chapter 1: Crossing

Without any warning, an extremely blinding light appeared.

It seemed as if it had been hidden in the depths of darkness since the birth of the universe, but was now driven by a mysterious force, shooting down from the sky with a loud bang, and instantly enveloped the entire battlefield.

This light carries an indescribable deterrent force.

It seemed to contain the power of the rules of the universe, and wherever it went, everything was eclipsed by it.

Under the cover of this light, the space and time that originally seemed stable turned out to be as fragile as glass as thin as a cicada's wing.

The texture of time and space began to twist and deform, as if being rubbed by an invisible hand with infinite power.

Then, it collapsed rapidly at a heart-pounding speed. Every inch of space was squeezed inward madly, and every second of time seemed to be infinitely stretched and distorted.

However, in a moment, an extremely huge vortex formed in the center of the battlefield.

This vortex was like a giant beast from ancient times, opening its huge mouth enough to swallow the world. It was spinning madly and making a terrifying roar.

The surrounding air, light, and even all existing things are drawn into it.

Lin Zhiyue was on the edge of this terrifying vortex, and she felt an irresistible force that seemed to come from the origin of the world, like a pair of giant hands made of steel, tightly grasping her body.

The force was brutal and overbearing, and her body instantly lost control.

The whole person was dragged and spun towards the center of the vortex at a crazy speed.

The world was spinning around her, and her internal organs seemed to be being tossed about by a violent giant hand.

Intense pain burst out from every cell of the body, as if countless steel needles were piercing at the same time.

The severe pain made her consciousness quickly become blurred in this chaotic environment, and the world in front of her began to become unreal and distorted.

The zombies that were originally rushing towards him with their claws and teeth bared and roaring

Those comrades who fought side by side with her and shared life and death with her

And the battlefield baptized by fire and blood

Under the crazy ravages of this light and vortex, everything seemed to be cast under a fading spell, gradually losing its original color and outline, and turning into illusory shadows.

These shadows floated slowly under the powerful suction of the vortex, and finally disappeared completely as they were swallowed by the light.

It's as if they had never existed in this world.

"hiss……"

Lin Zhiyue subconsciously let out a low groan of pain in the chaos.

When she regained some consciousness, she felt a splitting headache, as if thousands of heavy hammers were constantly hitting her brain.

The whole body was filled with unbearable pain, every inch of skin seemed to be burned by fire, and every bone seemed to have been tempered thousands of times, crushed and then put back together in an extremely rough way.

The unbearable pain made her body tremble slightly.

Lin Zhiyue's consciousness seemed to slowly rise from an endless dark abyss. His eyelids felt heavy as if weighed down by lead. After a long time, he trembled slightly with great difficulty and slowly opened his eyes.

What comes into view is a slightly dilapidated adobe house.

On the adobe walls, traces of time are visible, as if they had been smeared by the hands of time.

A few rays of sunlight, as if eager to peek into the secrets inside the house, struggled to pass through the cracks in the roof.

Golden beams of light were sprinkled in the air, and in the beams of light, dust was flying around like elves, and finally fell directly onto the patched quilt.

These patches, of various shapes and shades, seem to be silently telling the difficult times of the past.

Inside the house, a mixture of stale and damp smell filled the air, the smell was so thick that one could almost touch it.

With every breath, you can seem to feel the breath flowing through your nasal cavity and straight into your heart and lungs, making you frown.

Looking around, the simple furniture was placed in a mess, as if it had just experienced a fierce battle.

A wooden table with legs that were askew, as if it would fall completely over in any second;

Several benches were also incomplete, and some even had broken surfaces.

On the wall, there are several strings of dried corn. The corn silks sway gently in the breeze, making a slight rustling sound, which is the sound of the passage of time.

Lin Zhiyue was full of doubts and his brain was still in a chaotic state. He instinctively wanted to sit up and find out where he was.

But as soon as she exerted force, she truly felt that her body was as weak as a candle in the wind, and every muscle and every bone was protesting in pain.

Her limbs were limp, as if all the bones and muscles had been pulled out. The simple movement of standing up seemed to drain all her strength.

Before she could recover from the feeling of physical weakness, a surging wave of memories rushed into the depths of her consciousness without any warning.

This memory, strange yet with a strong emotional impact, does not belong to her, but it is so real that it rages in her mind.

The feeling of hunger is always there, a hunger that goes deep into the bone marrow and can gradually wear away a person's will.

My stomach felt like it was being tightly gripped by an invisible hand, and it was causing waves of pain.

The feeling of loneliness, like thick darkness, completely enveloped her.

In the picture, a small figure always wanders alone in a dark corner, with helplessness and confusion in his eyes.

What hurt her most was the scene of her parents' death. The heart-wrenching cries and the gradually cold faces of her relatives kept flashing in her mind. Every time it flashed, it was like a heavy hammer, hitting her soul hard.

Lin Zhiyue's consciousness slowly returned to normal in the chaos and dizziness. His eyelids seemed to be weighed down by a heavy burden and trembled with great difficulty. After a long time, he finally opened his eyes again.
