Chapter 160 Number Two

The afterglow of the setting sun gradually faded away, and the night slowly enveloped the place like a soft veil.

Suddenly, a soft voice sounded in my ears.

"Aunt is back!"

Several nephews seemed to have heard the assembly call and rushed out from all corners.

The youngest nephew, whose steps were still unsteady, waved his little hands hard, his face flushed, and called "Auntie" in a baby voice.

The older nephew was agile and ran to Lin Zhiyue first. He hugged her legs, tilted his head back, and said excitedly with sparkling eyes: "Aunt, a lot of interesting things happened in school today. Let me tell you!"

Another nephew was holding tightly in his hand a painting he had drawn himself.

She came closer cautiously and said shyly, "Aunt, this is what I drew today. You are in it."

Lin Zhiyue's heart was filled with warmth, and she touched her nephews' heads one by one.

He first squatted down and gently picked up his youngest nephew.

She kissed his pink cheek and replied with a smile: "Baby, auntie misses you so much!"

Then she looked at her nephew who was hugging her legs, her eyes full of doting: "Okay, auntie will listen to you talk about interesting things in school later."

Then she reached out her hand to her nephew who was holding the painting and said gently, "Show it to your aunt. Your painting must be very good."

At this time, my sister-in-law came out of the house, smiling and scolding: "Look at these children, when they heard you were back, they were more excited than anyone else."

Lin Zhiyue held her little nephew and walked into the house with her sister-in-law.

The nephews gathered around, and their chattering and cheerful laughter instantly filled the entire room.

The next morning, the faint morning light had just fallen on the streets and alleys of the capital, and the whole city still had a bit of morning tranquility.

Under Lin Weidong's careful and meticulous arrangements, a military green jeep was parked steadily at the gate of the Lin family compound.

Lin Zhiyue, dressed in a simple and decent dark suit, with a look of nervousness and anticipation, walked out of the house steadily and got into the back seat of the jeep.

The car started slowly and drove along the wide street towards Zhongnanhai.

The rustling sound made by the friction between the wheels and the ground seemed to be the slightly uneasy rhythm in Lin Zhiyue's heart at this moment.

Along the way, the scenery on both sides of the street passed by quickly like a slide show, but Lin Zhiyue had no intention of appreciating it.

The image of meeting the man from the document of her previous life kept appearing in her mind.

I was silently thinking about what to say and what etiquette to follow when we meet.

Soon, the jeep arrived at the entrance of Zhongnanhai.

The security here is tight, and guards in neat military uniforms stand tall at every important road.

Lin Zhiyue followed Lin Weidong out of the jeep and, as instructed, showed the guard the pass that had been prepared in advance.

The guards checked carefully, looking back and forth between the documents and Lin Zhiyue. After confirming that they were correct, they raised their hands to signal that they could enter.

However, this is only the first check.

After entering Zhongnanhai, there are strict inspection checkpoints at every key location.

Lin Zhiyue and Lin Weidong had to stop again and again to cooperate with the staff's inquiries and inspections.

Including identity verification, personal belongings security check, etc.

Each inspection process is rigorous and meticulous, and no mistakes are allowed.

Finally, after going through several strict inspection procedures, they arrived at the door of No. 2.

This seemingly ordinary but extremely meaningful door is also guarded by guards.

Lin Zhiyue took a deep breath and calmed down her slightly excited mood.

Under the guidance of Lin Weidong, they slowly walked towards the door that was about to open.

Lin Weidong turned around and faced Lin Zhiyue, with a kind smile on his face, and said softly: "Let's go, Yueyue, don't be nervous, relax."

As he spoke, he gently patted Lin Zhiyue's shoulder, giving her encouragement and comfort.

The two stood in front of the solemn door. Lin Weidong raised his hand and knocked on the door rhythmically with his knuckles.

"Knock, knock, knock," the knocking sound was particularly clear in the slightly quiet space.

Soon, a steady and powerful voice, with a bit of majesty but also gentleness, came from inside the house: "Please come in."

Lin Weidong gently pushed the door open and stepped into the house first, followed closely by Lin Zhiyue.

As soon as you enter the door, the simple yet solemn layout of the house comes into view.

Right in front of him, Mr. Zhou stood there, his eyes sharp.

Lin Weidong stood tall and straight, with a respectful and natural look on his face. He said to Mr. Zhou, "Hello, Chief. This is my granddaughter, Lin Zhiyue."

As he spoke, he turned sideways and gently moved Lin Zhiyue forward.

Mr. Zhou's gaze then fell on Lin Zhiyue and he looked her up and down.

Lin Zhiyue had a pretty face and clear, bright eyes that revealed agility and intelligence. She stood straight, and although she looked a little nervous, her overall demeanor was graceful.

He nodded slightly, with an expression of approval on his face, and said, "Oh, this is the granddaughter you often mentioned. She really looks like a good girl."

Lin Zhiyue calmed herself down, stepped forward, put on a perfect smile on her face, and said in a clear voice: "Hello! It's a great honor to meet you."

She bowed slightly, her movements gentle but polite, and looked at him sincerely.

A kind smile appeared on Mr. Zhou's face.

He raised his hand to signal, his tone gentle but still dignified: "Sit down, kid, don't stand."

After saying that, he turned his head and looked at the secretary beside him who was standing straight and had a capable face, and then ordered: "Xiao Qiao, pour them a glass of water, and be quick."

Secretary Xiao Qiao immediately nodded in agreement and walked briskly towards the coffee table beside her.
