Chapter 165 Anxious

Bai Yuejin stood up and paced back and forth in the room. After thinking for a moment, he said, "I think we should first find out what the Qu family is up to and what they are planning to do next. I have an old friend who has some connections with the Qu family's housekeeper. Maybe we can get some information from him."

Lin Weidong's eyes lit up and he said anxiously, "What are you waiting for? Ask your friend to ask right away. We have to resolve the matter before they do. We can't let Zhiyue's reputation be ruined by this rumor."

Mu Xuejun also agreed: "Okay, let's do as Lao Bai said. During this period of time, we have to pay more attention to the movements in the compound. Maybe we can find some new clues."

The three of them discussed some details before going their separate ways.

Mu Xuejun returned to the room, sat on the edge of the bed, looked at the sky outside the window, and prayed silently in his heart that the matter could be resolved smoothly and that the children would not be hurt too much.

Lin Zhiyue raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a faint smile with a hint of disdain, and he didn't care at all about the discussions around him.

In her opinion, who she chooses to be with is purely a personal matter, and the comments of others cannot have any influence on her at all.

However, when she saw that several old men who were usually highly respected, calm and reserved were so worried about this matter, asking about it frequently and looking concerned, her heart couldn't help but skip a beat. She had a vague premonition that Qu Chi who appeared this time might not be a character who could be easily dealt with, and that there would be some twists and turns in the days to come.

At the same time, in the spacious and bright living room of the Mu family, Mu Siwen, who had just finished a busy day at work and returned home exhausted, was anxiously grabbed by his sister Mu Yushang's arm before he had time to take a good rest on the soft sofa.

Mu Yuchang's face was full of anxiety, and she told him about the things between Lin Zhiyue and Qu Chi in rapid succession. Her expression seemed to be telling him about a major event concerning the fate of the family.

Mu Siwen originally had a tired look on his face and was listening to his sister Mu Yuchang's words inattentively.

When the words "Lin Zhiyue" and "Qu Chi" entered his ears, his eyes widened instantly, and his hand holding the water cup suddenly tightened, and his knuckles turned white due to the force.

Then he stood up from the sofa with a "swoosh". His movement was so hasty that his knees hit the coffee table, making a dull sound.

Mu Yuchang was startled by the sudden noise. Seeing her brother's reaction like a lit powder keg, she hurriedly trotted after him, her high heels making rapid tapping sounds on the floor.

She chased him and shouted, "Brother, where are you going? Did you hear me? Lin Zhiyue and Qu Chi haven't finished talking about it yet, why are you leaving so suddenly!"

But Mu Siwen turned a deaf ear to him, frowned like a "川" character, and walked towards the door with big strides, as if there was some extremely urgent matter waiting for him to deal with.

Mu Siwen was anxious and hurried.

Soon, the footsteps stopped in front of the Lin family’s door.

He didn't bother to tidy up his hair that was messed up by the wind. He took a few steps up the stairs and walked into the room.

The door opened, and seeing Grandma Lin's kind face, he quickly calmed down and said respectfully and politely, "Grandma Lin, long time no see."

As soon as he finished speaking, he asked anxiously: "Grandma Lin, is Zhiyue at home? I have something important to discuss with her."

Grandma Lin looked at Mu Siwen who looked anxious and replied with a smile: "Zhiyue is upstairs. The child went upstairs when she came back today. Don't worry, come in and sit for a while. I will go and call her for you."

After saying that, Grandma Lin turned around, walked towards the stairs with slow but steady steps, and prepared to call Lin Zhiyue to come down.

Mu Siwen stood in the living room, rubbing his hands awkwardly, looking towards the stairs from time to time, expecting Lin Zhiyue to appear soon.

The air in the room seemed to freeze, and every second of waiting became extremely long.

Grandma Lin’s footsteps gradually faded away, then slowly came back, but Lin Zhiyue was nowhere to be seen behind her.

Grandma Lin said apologetically, "Zhiyue said she was a little tired and didn't want to see anyone, so she asked you to go back first."

When Mu Siwen heard this, the light in his eyes dimmed a little, but he quickly cheered up and said earnestly: "Grandma Lin, I really have something very important to tell you. Can you help me persuade her again?"

Grandma Lin was moved by his sincere look and turned around and went upstairs again.

This time, the waiting time seemed to be infinitely extended. Mu Siwen paced back and forth in the living room, feeling restless.

The clock on the wall ticked, and every tick struck his heart hard.

Finally, footsteps were heard on the stairs. Mu Siwen looked up suddenly and saw Lin Zhiyue walking down with a cold face.

Before Lin Zhiyue could speak, Mu Siwen hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Zhiyue, I have something to tell you."

Lin Zhiyue frowned slightly, with a hint of surprise in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure and snorted, "What's the matter? Why are you so anxious?"

Seeing Lin Zhiyue turning around to leave, Mu Siwen's eyes were full of anxiety and earnestness. He quickly stepped forward, slightly sideways to block her, and his voice was filled with a bit of urgency that could not be refused: "Zhiyue, this matter is really important. Let's find a quiet place to have a good chat, okay?"

As he spoke, he gestured with his hands, trying to make Lin Zhiyue feel the urgency of the matter. Beads of sweat had already seeped out of his forehead due to his anxiety.

Lin Zhiyue raised her eyes and glanced at Mu Siwen's anxious face. Seeing his rapidly rising and falling chest and the bloodshot eyes, she couldn't help but feel a little confused.

After hesitating for a moment, she sighed softly and finally nodded: "Okay."

Then, Lin Zhiyue walked over to Grandma Lin who was sitting beside them and watching them with concern, leaned down, and said softly: "Grandma, Brother Sven and I will be out for a while and will be back soon, don't worry."

Grandma Lin looked at the two of them with a kind smile on her face and said, "Okay, be careful and come back soon."

Lin Zhiyue responded obediently, and then walked out of the house with Mu Siwen.

The two walked out of the house side by side, the breeze blew gently, raising some dust on the ground.

They walked along the winding path and slowly came to a large tree with lush branches and leaves in the courtyard.

The thick trunk is like a loyal guard, isolating the surrounding noise.

Lin Zhiyue stopped, reached out and gently lifted her hair that was messed up by the wind, raised her eyes to look at Mu Siwen, and said calmly: "Okay, there's no one here, Brother Siwen, what do you want to tell me?"

Her voice was crisp and especially clear in this quiet environment.

Mu Siwen took a deep breath, his expression became particularly solemn, his eyes locked tightly on Lin Zhiyue's eyes, and he slowly said: "I heard about you and Qu Chi today."
