Chapter 53 Thief

Lin Zhiyue looked at the villagers who were still having a heated discussion, and her heart was filled with warmth, but she had to interrupt their enthusiasm.

She raised her hand to check the time, looking a little anxious. She quickly raised her voice and said with a polite and apologetic smile on her face, "Okay, uncles, aunts, grandparents, I really have to go. I have an appointment with the county town, and I will be late if I don't go now."

As she spoke, she gently turned the bicycle around.

The surrounding villagers finally came to their senses and realized that they had delayed Lin Zhiyue's journey, and they all stepped aside to make way.

The old lady with the cane just now looked concerned. She trembled and walked forward, holding Lin Zhiyue's hand, and said distressedly: "Aiya, Zhiyue girl, look at us, we have been holding you to ask questions, and we have delayed your work. Go quickly, and be careful on the road."

Lin Zhiyue held the old lady's hand and said gently, "Grandma, it's okay. I'm happy to tell everyone about my bicycle. Don't worry, I will definitely pay attention to safety."

The middle-aged uncle who had asked about the principle of solar panels before also smiled and said, "Zhiyue, if you come across any way to improve this bicycle during your trip to the county, please keep an eye out for it. When you come back, you can talk to us about it."

Lin Zhiyue nodded vigorously and replied, "Okay, uncle, I'll remember it!"

Afterwards, Lin Zhiyue got on the bicycle, held the handlebars firmly with both hands, and waved goodbye to the villagers again.

She gently pressed the start button, the engine emitted a low roar, and the car started slowly.

The villagers stood where they were, following Lin Zhiyue's figure with their eyes, until she rode that magical bicycle and gradually disappeared at the end of the village road.

As soon as Lin Zhiyue's figure riding away on his bike disappeared from sight, the villagers' discussions became more and more turbulent like a tide.

"Lin Zhiyue is really amazing," said a slightly plump middle-aged woman, with her hands on her hips, her face full of amazement and admiration. "I have lived for most of my life and have never seen an electric bicycle that doesn't require pedaling. How did a little girl like her figure it out?"

"That's right," a young man nearby echoed, shaking his head, "Look how fast it was, it just whizzed by, I couldn't even keep up with it. If everyone in our village could have such a car in the future, it would be much more convenient to go out and do things."

In the crowd, an old man smoking a pipe sighed softly and said slowly: "I'm afraid Lin Zhiyue won't stay in this village for long. With her intelligence and hands-on ability, the big city outside is the place where she can show her talents."

"Yes," a gray-haired woman took over the conversation, a trace of pity flashing in her eyes, "Who would have thought that she, an orphan with no parents, could live like this. When her parents just left, the child was so thin that her bones were just skin and bones. It was heartbreaking to see her. But she gritted her teeth and made it all the way through, and even came up with such an amazing invention."

"Who says it's not true?" another uncle nodded heavily. "Most of the children in our village follow the old ways and live their lives according to routine. But Zhiyue is different. She has her own ideas and dares to make new things. She will definitely make a big difference in the future."

"Why don't we wait for her to come back from the county town, and then we can get together and let her teach us if we can also learn to make this kind of bicycle? Maybe we can even sell it and increase the income for the village." A girl with a ponytail, with sparkling eyes, put forward her idea.

An old man with gray hair and a face full of traces of time, after hearing the girl's suggestion, shook his head slightly, chuckled with a hint of vicissitudes, and said, "You, you are just daydreaming."

The old man narrowed his eyes slightly and followed the direction where Lin Zhiyue left, as if he could still see the shadow of the bicycle.

"Do you know how to modify that bicycle? What parts are needed?"

The old man said slowly with some emotion, "The farm tools we usually tinker with are simple in structure and we are good at repairing them. But this solar-powered bicycle with fingerprint unlocking is completely different. For example, the solar panels need special materials to convert light energy into electricity. Where can we find them? And the motor needs to have the right power to drive the bike. There are many tricks involved."

The old man paused, took a puff of his pipe, exhaled a cloud of smoke, and continued: "Look at the villages around here, who can modify it like that? Although the young people in our village are hardworking, none of them have experience in tinkering with such high-tech gadgets. This is not something that can be accomplished with strength and enthusiasm alone. You have to understand the principles, be able to calculate, and have dexterity to assemble and debug those delicate parts one by one."

"That's not something you can learn just because you say you can,"

The old man tapped the pipe in his hand and said, "How much is contained in it? Zhiyue must have spent a lot of time, looked up a lot of information, and worked hard to figure it out. If we want to learn it, where should we start? How long will it take to learn it?"

The old man's words calmed down the lively discussion a little. The villagers looked at each other and fell into deep thought for a moment.

But soon, whispers were heard among the crowd again. Some people whispered that maybe they could ask Lin Zhiyue to write a tutorial, while others thought about going to the town's bookstore to look for relevant books.

The old man looked at everyone and smiled helplessly.

Lin Zhiyue walked into the department store. Soft lights poured down, illuminating the shelves filled with goods.

She walked through the various areas, looking back and forth among the goods, and the kind faces of the grandparents in the cowshed emerged in her mind.
