Chapter 20 Hope

The villagers came out of their homes and gathered towards the threshing ground.

The old people were leaning on crutches, their steps were slow but their eyes were firm;

The young men walked briskly, discussing possible good news with their companions as they walked;

The women held their children's hands and reminded them not to run too fast.

For a moment, the small road leading to the threshing ground was filled with villagers hurrying on their way, and joyful laughter echoed over the village. An important meeting concerning the future of the village was about to begin.
