Cheng Haoyu's back was against the wall as he slid down the wall, feeling extremely helpless.
"I just went to get two cups of hot water. You two should drink some to calm your nerves." Zheng Xinyi handed them the cups and said.
"Xinyi, I'm sorry, I..." Cheng Haoyu looked at her with a look of guilt, and for a moment he didn't know what words to use to express his feelings at the moment.
"Don't say anything. The most important thing now is that Dad can successfully get through the critical period. Nothing else matters." Zheng Xinyi responded calmly.
The hospital corridor was very deserted at night, and the three of them were enough to make the atmosphere around them so depressing that it was hard to breathe.
After a whole night of rescue, the door of the emergency room was finally opened.
"Doctor, is my dad okay?" The three of them immediately surrounded him and asked.
"Don't worry! The patient is out of danger." The doctor responded seriously.
After hearing this, the three of them breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank you, doctor."
Although Cheng Dayu was still breathing oxygen, he had already regained consciousness.
"Dad, how do you feel?" Cheng Haoyang said with red eyes, holding his old hand.
"Dad, I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Cheng Haoyu's tone was full of self-blame and guilt.
"Dad, don't think about anything now, just have a good rest." Zheng Xinyi responded from the side.
Cheng Dayu nodded slightly, closed his eyes gently, and soon fell into a light sleep.
"Sister-in-law, is my dad okay?" Cheng Haoyang asked in a concerned tone.
"It's okay, Dad is probably too tired and a little weak. Let him sleep quietly for a while, it's good." Zheng Xinyi said in a worry-free tone.
"Sister-in-law, why don't you and brother go back first, and I'll stay here with dad. I'm afraid Haoting can't handle Ai Yu and mom by herself." Cheng Haoyang said in a worried tone.
"Okay, let's go back first and come back later to take your place." Zheng Xinyi nodded, then pulled Cheng Haoyu and turned to leave.
"Xinyi." Cheng Haoyu always felt that he should say something to Zheng Xinyi, but Zheng Xinyi didn't give him a chance to speak.
"Haoyu, I feel so tired now. I don't want to listen to anything or say anything." Zheng Xinyi said with a frown.
The two of them rode in the same ox cart, but they felt as if they were a world apart. No one spoke to each other along the way. Even though Cheng Haoyu wanted to, when he saw Zheng Xinyi's cold face, he swallowed back all the words that were on his lips.
Cheng Haoyu himself didn't know how he had let things turn out like this. In fact, he felt helpless, and this result was not what he wanted to see.
"Xinyi, I heard that something happened to the Cheng family last night, and my father-in-law was hospitalized in the county town. What happened?" As soon as the ox cart entered the village, it ran into Zheng Shaochun and Cuihua.
"Yes! After your mother and I heard about this, we came here early in the morning. Now the whole village is talking about the quarrel in the Cheng family. How is your father-in-law?" Zheng Shaochun asked in a concerned tone.
"Dad, Mom, don't worry, my father-in-law is no longer in danger of death. Haoyang is now in the hospital with him." Zheng Xinyi responded concisely and clearly.
Cuihua glanced at Cheng Haoyu and asked in a puzzled tone, "What happened last night? Why was there such a big commotion?"
"It's hard to explain it in just a few words. Let's go to Cheng's house first. When I have a chance, I will tell you slowly." Zheng Xinyi responded.
