After applying ice and taking anti-inflammatory drugs, Huang Lei felt much better, but because he had a cut on his head, he had to bandage it with gauze.
"Fortunately, they are just minor injuries." Zheng Xinyi said as she applied medicine on him.
Cheng Haoyu rolled his eyes at him and said, "I let you slack off in the army, and now you're suffering, aren't you?"
Huang Lei glanced at Zheng Xinyi and frowned slightly: "My dear battalion commander, I'm already in this state now, can you please stop making sarcastic remarks?"
Cheng Haoyu rolled his eyes at him helplessly, then looked up at Zheng Xinyi and said, "Let's send him back to the Huang family! Uncle Huang and Aunt Huang will be worried if we go back any later."
Zheng Xinyi took the anti-inflammatory medicine and rushed to Huang's house with Cheng Haoyu. When Liu Yun saw the gauze wrapped around his son's head, he was startled and his eyes widened: "Son, what happened to you?"
Hearing Liu Yun's call, Huang San also ran out from the inner room with a look of surprise and worry on his face.
"Mom, I'm fine, just some minor injuries." Huang Lei responded.
Seeing the distressed looks on Huang San and Liu Yun's faces, Zheng Xinyi, who was standing aside, felt even more guilty. She glanced at Cheng Haoyu, who placed his comforting hand on her shoulder, signaling her that it was okay.
Liu Yun repeatedly asked Huang Lei how he was injured, but in order to protect Zheng Xinyi, Huang Lei was reluctant to tell the truth and repeatedly emphasized that he was fine.
Zheng Xinyi knew that some responsibilities could not be avoided. She stepped forward, her face full of apology: "Aunt, I'm sorry. A group of people came to my clinic to cause trouble today, and Huang Lei fought with them for me."
Liu Yun cast a surprised look at her, then frowned slightly: "Xinyi, I'm not saying anything bad about you, but you've caused us so much trouble since you came to Beijing. I only have this one son. If something really happens to him today, how can I live with you?"
Huang Lei glanced at Zheng Xinyi, who looked aggrieved, and reached out to pull Liu Yun: "Mom, what are you doing?"
"You're already injured like this, so what's wrong with me saying a few words to her?" Liu Yun looked displeased.
Huang San nudged Liu Yun gently with his elbow and smiled awkwardly: "Xinyi, it's getting late, let Cheng Haoyu take you home first!"
Zheng Xinyi nodded slightly, put the anti-inflammatory medicine in her hand on the table, and turned away silently.
Huang San sent them out and said a few heartfelt words to Zheng Xinyi: "Your aunt just loves her son very much. In fact, she doesn't really blame you. I will talk to her later. Don't take it to heart."
Zheng Xinyi smiled with understanding: "Uncle, I know that Auntie has a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Besides, Huang Lei was injured because of me."
Huang San interrupted her with a stop gesture: "Child, stop talking and go back early!"
Accompanied by Cheng Haoyu, the two turned around and left. However, Huang Lei, who was in the room, kept looking at their gradually receding backs through the window.
Liu Yun sighed helplessly, "Don't look at it, my silly son. No matter how good Xinyi is, she is still someone else's wife. Mom begs you, don't risk your life for her like this anymore. You are my only son. If something really happens to you, how will your father and mother live?"
"Mom, I understand." Huang Lei said, holding her hand.
