Chapter 14: Quarrel

"Xinyi, if that's the case, it's really great. Our Cheng family can be said to have turned a disaster into a blessing." Zhang Fengrong excitedly shook her hand, glanced at Zheng Shaochun who had been smoking with his head down, and pushed the old man next to him.

"Brother Zheng, we were wrong before. Look, the wedding dates of these two children are coming soon. Don't be angry anymore." Cheng Dayu immediately understood Zhang Fengrong's meaning and said something to Zheng Shaochun.

In fact, Zheng Shaochun did not not understand the Cheng family, but he just couldn't swallow this breath for the time being. After hearing Cheng Dayu's words, he felt much better and his expression softened slightly: "Stay for dinner tonight and try Xinyi's cooking."

Although Zhang Fengrong and Cheng Dayu were quite curious about Zheng Xinyi's cooking skills, their relationship had just eased, so they didn't feel comfortable asking for free food and drinks right away.

"Not today, Haoyang and Haoting are still at home!" As he spoke, the two had already stood up and left, and Zheng Jia accompanied them to the entrance of the yard.

The neighbors who had always been pessimistic about the marriage between the Zheng and Cheng families came out to watch the fun. Seeing the two families getting along so harmoniously in an instant, everyone's face was filled with surprise, especially Wang Qianyu, who was so angry that she had nowhere to vent. She never expected that she had originally wanted to frame Zheng Xinyi, but now she was helping her.

Zheng Xinyi was the only one left in the lobby, stunned. What was going on? She couldn't even say what she wanted to say. How come these two families were so close, like they were actually in cahoots?

Looking up at the situation at the gate of the yard, it seemed that there was no need to ask any questions at all, as all the facts were laid out before him.

Zheng Xinyi frowned and held her head with her arms. She really hated herself for showing off too much and causing herself such a big trouble.

"Xinyi, why are you still sitting here? You watched your uncle and aunt leave, why don't you go out to see them off?" Zheng Shaochun knocked on the table with the pipe in his hand, with an expression as if he was scolding her for being impolite.

"Oh, don't blame her. The Cheng family didn't make sense. I saw that they were very happy when they left." Cuihua persuaded.

But this advice made Zheng Shaochun even angrier: "What are you talking about? Although our Zheng family is poor, the children we raise must be well-mannered."

"Dad, Mom, stop arguing for now. I have something to tell you." Zheng Xinyi felt that the cancellation of the engagement could not be delayed any longer and had to be decided immediately.

But the old couple ignored what he said and kept arguing with each other.

"Dad, Mom, what are you two doing?" Zheng Xinwei rushed in from the yard and stood directly between them.

Cuihua sat on the stool with a look of grievance on her face, big pearls bursting out of her eyes, and she began to complain about all the complaints of housewives.

Zheng Xinyi felt like she was in a state of panic: "Okay, stop arguing. I was wrong, is that okay?"

The hall suddenly became quiet, and everyone's eyes turned to Zheng Xinyi. She said to Zheng Shaochun seriously, "I will pay attention next time. Don't quarrel with mom anymore."

Zheng Shaochun put away his pipe, which was filled with smoke: "Xinwei, go out and work."

"Sister, sister, there is a word I don't know. Can you come and help me look at it?" Zheng Xinyue quickly pulled her into her room, then made a hushing gesture to her, peeking at Cuihua in the hall. Seeing that no one was listening to her complaints, she silently got up and went into the kitchen.

"What are you doing?" Zheng Xinyi glanced at the table, which was clean and without even a piece of paper with words on it. She knew that this little girl was up to something again.

"Sister, you don't know how good our mother is at nagging. Now that no one is listening to her nagging, she will be fine in a while." Zheng Xinyue acted as if she knew her mother very well.
