Chapter 15 Aunt's Trouble

Zheng Xinyi tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. The wedding was approaching, and now her parents, who had never approved of the marriage, had taken a complete about-face. It seemed difficult for her to break off the engagement at this critical juncture. Yet, she refused to accept her fate, thinking back to her past life. Her heart still ached. God had finally given her a chance to be reborn, and no matter what, she had to live for herself. With this thought, she immediately made up her mind to tell her parents tomorrow morning about breaking off the engagement.

The next morning, everything seemed the same as usual. Zheng Xinyi had already prepared breakfast before her family got up. She sat at the table, feeling a bit nervous as she gripped her chopsticks. "Dad, Mom, I want to tell you something."

Everyone's eyes turned to Zheng Xinyi, who had a serious face. Zheng Shaochun put down his bowl and chopsticks, picked up his pipe and took a puff: "Girl, what's the matter?"

Zheng Xinyi's words were on the tip of her tongue and she was about to say them when she was interrupted by a sudden shout from the yard.

"Brother, sister-in-law, are you home?" A strange woman's voice.

Zheng Shaochun and Cuihua looked at each other, quickly stood up, and watched her carry her bags and small bags and walk into the yard with difficulty. Her family had no intention of taking over.

"Shaoyun, why didn't you write a letter in advance before you came, so that your elder brother could pick you up at the village entrance in advance." In fact, Cuihua meant that you didn't even say hello in advance when you came, so that everyone could be mentally prepared.

"I didn't want to trouble you too much, so I came here by myself." Shao Yun was wearing a silver-gray cotton jacket. Although the style was ordinary, the material of the clothes was indeed very expensive.

"Oh, we're eating!" Shaoyun stared at the dining table.

"Xinwei, Xinyue, why don't you call for help?" Cuihua put down what she was holding and scolded the two children.

"Brother, I'm full and I'm going to be late, so I'm leaving first." As she spoke, Zheng Xinyue had already picked up her cross-body backpack and slipped away at lightning speed.

"Aunt." Zheng Xinwei greeted her helplessly, then got up and went to the yard to rub corn.

"Xinyi, I heard that you are no longer stupid. I am really happy from the bottom of my heart." While speaking, Zheng Shaoyun had already picked up a sweet potato and started eating it in big mouthfuls.

Zheng Xinyi clearly saw Cuihua standing beside her and staring at her.

"Aunt, isn't my wedding still a week away?" Zheng Xinyi almost asked directly, the wedding is still so far away, why did you come so early?

"You're getting married, and Auntie is so happy! I was thinking about whether I could do anything to help you," Zheng Shaoyun said, his mouth full of sweet potatoes, his words unclear. Then his eyes fell on Zheng Shaochun and his wife standing nearby, and he patted the empty seat next to him: "Brother, sister-in-law, you two should stop standing there. Come and sit down. We're all family, why are you being so polite?"

Cuihua was already furious. She ignored her existence and turned abruptly, picked up the chicken feed and left.

Zheng Shaochun puffed on his pipe, took a deep breath, and said to Zheng Xinyi, who was sitting at the dining table like a statue: "My daughter, you should pack your things and move in with Xinyue later."

The Zheng family's house is only this big. Now that Zheng Shaoyun is back, there is no extra room for her, so they have to let their two daughters squeeze on the kang.

Zheng Xinyi rolled her eyes reluctantly as if she hadn't heard anything. Zheng Shaoyun, who was still eating sweet potatoes, got up helplessly and went back to the house to pack his things.
