Chapter 33 Pick-up

The next morning, the sun was shining brightly. Several magpies landed on the branches and chirped, as if they were congratulating Zheng Xinyi again, or welcoming Cheng Haoyu's return. In short, in the eyes of the elders, this was good news.

"Xinyi, why are you still wearing the same outfit? Didn't Mom make you a new dress a few days ago?" Cuihua pushed the door open and asked early in the morning.

Zheng Xinyue, who was dressing Zheng Xinyi, made a hushing gesture to Cuihua and pointed at her eyes. Only then did Cuihua realize that Zheng Xinyi's eyes were red and swollen like two walnuts.

"Mom, aren't we just going to pick someone up? There's no need to dress so formally." Zheng Xinyi frowned, speaking in an impatient tone.

"Okay, do whatever you want and wear whatever you want. When you're done packing, tell me and I'll let Xinwei take you to the station." Cui Huasheng was afraid that she might have some changes, so she quickly agreed with her. She was always feeling anxious and asked Xinwei to go with her, firstly to supervise her, and secondly so that if she had any temporary changes, Zheng Xinwei would be able to persuade her.

Zheng Xinyi had bangs and two pigtails, and wore her usual white floral cotton jacket. When she walked out of the house, everyone who had been waiting in the lobby for a long time all looked at her.

Looking at this outfit, Zheng Shaochun took a deep puff of the pipe in his hand, then took it away from his mouth with a serious face. Just as he was about to scold, he was stopped by Cuihua in time. She nudged him lightly with her elbow, then glared at him fiercely, indicating that he must not say a word.

"Xinyi, are you going to pick me up at the station wearing this?" Yingzi asked bluntly.

Cuihua quickly pulled Zheng Xinyi over and said, "Our Xinyi is beautiful. She looks good in anything she wears." Then she winked at Zheng Xinwei and said, "Xinwei, go and see your sister off."

Yingzi crossed her arms over her chest, pouted, and said nothing more.

The Zheng family's house was not close to the station, so Zheng Xinwei and Zheng Xinyue walked for half an hour before they arrived at the station. Along the way, Zheng Xinyi was like a frost-bitten eggplant, not as lively as usual. Zheng Xinwei touched the back of his head from time to time, always wanting to say something to break the heavy atmosphere, but he didn't know what to say.

There were quite a lot of people at the station. Zheng Xinwei glanced at the clock hanging on the station. It was still some time before Cheng Haoyu would pick him up, so he breathed a sigh of relief. He looked up and saw Cheng Haoting and Cheng Haoyang waving at him enthusiastically. He pulled Zheng Xinyi, who was still in a daze, and said, "Xinyi, they're over there."

"Why are you two the only ones here to pick me up?" Zheng Xinwei touched the back of his head and asked cheerfully.

"Because the wedding will officially start the day after tomorrow, many relatives have come to our house. Dad and Mom are busy making dumplings at home, and there are not enough people, so we two have to come to pick up my eldest brother." Cheng Haoyang explained.

"Sister Xinyi, what's wrong with your eyes?" Cheng Haoting looked up and met her red and swollen eyes.

Zheng Xinwei glanced at Zheng Xinyi and quickly changed the subject: "Haoyu is coming back, everyone is a little excited and didn't get enough rest last night."

"Haoting." Wang Qianyu ran over from a distance, breathlessly saying, "Luckily, I didn't miss the pick-up time."

Her appearance made the scene suddenly awkward. Cheng Haoyang and Cheng Haoting looked at each other, glanced at Zheng Xinyi a little embarrassedly, and then smiled unnaturally: "Why are you here?"

"Come and pick up Haoyu! We haven't seen each other for several months." He cast a sharp gaze at Zheng Xinyi: "I'm here to pick up Haoyu, you won't be unhappy, right?"
