"Why haven't Captain Cheng and the others come back yet?" Bai Cuiping asked worriedly.
Zheng Xinyi and Zhao Yuenan looked at each other and sat beside her: "Don't worry! Wang Ye is a grown-up, not a child, he will be fine."
Zheng Xinyi held her hand tightly. Bai Cuiping took a deep breath and nodded slightly.
A moment later, Cheng Haoyu and Huang Lei pushed the door open and walked in. Bai Cuiping stretched her neck to look behind them, frowning slightly, and asked anxiously, "Captain Cheng, have you found Wang Ye?"
"The soldier standing guard at the army gate said that Wang Ye went out in casual clothes at noon." Huang Lei responded directly.
Bai Cuiping's face changed drastically: "Out? Is he in danger? Or is there some temporary mission in the army that requires him to be dispatched?"
"Not soon. I think Wang Ye should have gone out to buy something. He might be back soon. Cuiping, don't worry." Cheng Haoyu said seriously.
Even though Cheng Haoyu said this, Bai Cuiping still couldn't dispel the uneasiness in her heart. She looked up at the dark sky and felt more and more anxious. "Wang Ye never leaves without saying goodbye to me, and we agreed to be discharged and go home this afternoon."
Zheng Xinyi and Cheng Haoyu exchanged a glance. Then, Zheng Xinyi looked at the old-fashioned wall clock, as if thinking. "It's 6:35 now. Let's wait until 7:00. If there's still no news of Wang Ye, we'll report to the military leadership and send someone to look for him."
Time ticked by, and everyone stood there like statues, quietly waiting for news. Their facial expressions were very solemn, and the atmosphere in the ward became more and more tense.
Just when the army gate was about to be completely closed, Wang Ye rushed back.
"Sergeant Wang? Where have you been? Why did you come back just now? Battalion Commander Cheng and Doctor Huang are going crazy looking for you." The soldier on guard said after seeing his face clearly.
"I went out to buy some things, but because they were not easy to find, I wasted quite a bit of time," Wang Ye explained.
"Captain Cheng asked me to tell you that they are all waiting for you in the hospital. Please go there as soon as you come back." The soldier reminded.
"Thank you." After he finished speaking, Wang Ye quickly walked towards the hospital carrying the package wrapped in brown paper.
Bai Cuiping glanced at the time. It was already seven in five minutes, but there was still no news from Wang Ye. She couldn't hold it in any longer: "Captain Cheng, we can't wait any longer."
"I will report the situation to the military leader now and ask him to send someone to find Wang Ye." Cheng Haoyu responded.
The atmosphere became extremely tense. Cheng Haoyu had just pushed open the ward door when he ran into Wang Ye, who was about to enter. He stared at him with wide eyes, frowning slightly, his face gloomy, and an extremely angry tone: "Wang Ye? Where have you been? Why didn't you even say hello? Do you know how worried Bai Cuiping and the rest of us are?"
"Battalion Commander, I'm sorry." Wang Ye said from the bottom of his heart.
"Wang Ye, the soldiers on guard in the army said that you went out in casual clothes. Where did you go?" Zheng Xinyi reached out and pushed Cheng Haoyu, indicating that he should talk nicely and not be so angry.
"Yes! We are all so worried about you! Battalion Commander Cheng is preparing to report the situation to the military leaders and is ready to lead people to find you personally!" Zhao Yuenan responded.
