Zheng Xinyi pulled Zheng Shaodong aside and whispered something in his ear. Zheng Shaodong's expression changed immediately.
Then, Zheng Xinyi took out twenty yuan from her pocket and stuffed it into Li Fen's hand: "Grandma, save this money for your travel expenses and to buy some dry food. This is all I can do."
After the words fell, Cheng Haoyu and Zheng Xinyi turned around and left without looking back.
"You can't leave." Yingzi knew that this was their last hope and she was determined not to let them leave.
Cheng Haoyu naturally reached out and held Zheng Xinyi in his arms. Ever since she slapped him inexplicably last time, Cheng Haoyu would be on high alert every time Zheng Xinyi was with him.
"Second Aunt, we have said everything we need to say. If you continue to act like a rogue here, I will immediately have someone lock you up." Cheng Haoyu said seriously.
Yingzi snorted coldly: "Imprison me? What gives you the right to imprison me?"
"Yesterday you caused trouble on the military playground, and the military leaders kicked you out of the military gate. That was already a courtesy to you. Now you come here to cause trouble again. If you don't know how to restrain yourself, I can send people to detain you at any time." Cheng Haoyu warned without hesitation.
"I...I came here to save my son. You have no reason to detain me." Yingzi said a little guilty.
"First, your son is not here. Second, your son did something wrong and he must pay the price. Third, I have told you many times that I can't do anything to save your son." Cheng Haoyu retorted confidently.
For a moment, Yingzi was speechless. She was really afraid that if she continued to make trouble, she would irritate them and get them locked up, and in the end she would have no choice but to watch them leave.
"Mom, you are our only hope to save Jiaming. If we let them go now, what will happen to Jiaming?" Yingzi looked at their departing backs and said to Li Fen in an anxious tone.
"Jia Ming is my grandson, I am also very worried." Li Fen said while trying to hold on to her body which was sweating profusely.
Yingzi knew there was no hope for Li Fen. She then turned her gaze to Zheng Shaodong, who stood there like a statue. Frowning, she walked over and accused him: "Everyone has left, why are you still standing here?"
Zheng Shaodong seemed not to hear her words. He reached out to wipe the tears from his face and remained silent with a heartbroken look.
Yingzi sensed something was wrong, so she asked, "What's wrong with you? What did Xinyi just say to you?"
A bad premonition came over Yingzi, and with a panicked face, she pulled Zheng Shaodong to ask, "What happened? Is it our son?"
"Xinyi said Jiaming has been shot." Zheng Shaodong squatted on the ground, his voice choked with sobs.
"Impossible, impossible." Yingzi's eyes widened, as if struck by a bolt from the blue, unable to believe the truth. Finally, she fixed her gaze on the army gate: "It must be that girl who is spreading rumors, it must be. I must go and ask her clearly."
As soon as she finished speaking, Yingzi ran over like a madman, but before she even got through the military gate, she was stopped by the soldiers on guard. No matter how she begged, it was of no use.
Li Fen walked over, her body trembling, and tearfully asked, "Son, you said my grandson was shot? Is that true?"
"Mom, it's absolutely true!" Zheng Shaodong's face was filled with tears and his voice was choked with sobs.
"My grandson." Two tears rolled down his eyes. He looked up at the sky and let out a heartbreaking cry. Then everything went black and he fainted on the ground.
Then came Zheng Shaodong's hoarse voice calling: "Mom, Mom, what's wrong with you?"
