"Xinyi, now that you're okay, I have something to tell you. It's about Wang Zhi." Bai Cuiping had just said half of her words when Zheng Xinyi immediately reached out and patted her forehead. This action scared Bai Cuiping, and she immediately stopped what she was about to say.
"If you hadn't mentioned Wang Zhi, I would have really forgotten about him. When I was discharged from the hospital, I promised Li Qing that I would go and have a good talk with Wang Zhi. I know that Wang Zhi has been very depressed recently, and no one can do anything about him. I don't know if my persuasion will be of any use?" Zheng Xinyi said.
"Xinyi, are you really planning to meet Wang Zhi?" Bai Cuiping asked softly.
Zheng Xinyi smiled and nodded: "Of course, I promised Li Qing that I would help her find the former Wang Zhi. Besides, Wang Zhi can't be blamed entirely for Haoyu's death."
"Then I'll go with you." Bai Cuiping said, holding her hand.
Zheng Xinyi glanced at Chongyang standing beside her, and then glanced at Ai Yu in her arms: "Cui Ping, you should help me take care of these two little guys at home! Don't worry! I'm fine, I will definitely do my best to wake Wang Zhi up."
Bai Cuiping took Ai Yu in her arms and nodded slightly, "Okay, I'll take care of them at home, you just be careful."
Zheng Xinyi nodded to her, then turned and left.
It has been almost a week, and Wang Zhi has been locking himself in the house and refusing to see anyone.
"Wang Zhi, I'm your sister-in-law. I know you're in there. Open the door for me, can we talk?" Zheng Xinyi knocked on Wang Zhi's door for a long time before the drunk Wang Zhi got up from the ground in a daze. After hearing Zheng Xinyi's voice, he slowly got up and opened the door.
The pungent smell of alcohol made Zheng Xinyi subconsciously fan her mouth and nose with her hands. She looked around. If she didn't know that this was Wang Zhi's house, Zheng Xinyi really didn't recognize the person in front of her. He was unkempt and looked lifeless. He was completely different from the Wang Zhi she knew before.
"Wang Zhi, how did you become like this?" Zheng Xinyi looked him up and down and asked.
"Sister-in-law, I'm sorry to you and to Captain Cheng. Please beat me up!" Wang Zhi said with a drunken breath.
Zheng Xinyi glanced at him and frowned slightly: "Can I come in?"
Wang Zhi nodded slightly and made way for her by blocking the door with his body.
"How much did you drink?" Zheng Xinyi asked, looking at the wine bottles on the floor.
"I don't know either." Wang Zhi responded in detail.
"After drinking so much, do you feel better? You've shut yourself off for so many days, drinking to drown your sorrows. Do you really feel you've done your best for Haoyu?" Zheng Xinyi asked.
Wang Zhi silently lowered his head, tears in his eyes: "Even if I drink more, my heart will still hurt."
"Do you know? If you continue like this, the army leaders will expel you?" Zheng Xinyi asked.
Wang Zhi nodded, a wry smile forming on his lips. "I was the one who killed Captain Cheng. Now that he's gone, what qualifications do I have to serve in the army?"
As soon as the words fell, a loud slap landed on his face. Zheng Xinyi's eyes were blurred with tears, and she looked at Wang Zhi seriously: "Even if you are sad and upset, can you be as heartbroken as I am? He is the man I love most in my life. I am pregnant with twins, a boy and a girl, and just lost a daughter. Now I have received the news of his death. Do you know how much my heart aches?"
