Zheng Xinyi spoke very little along the way, and Zhou Shui knew that she was still worried about Li Yi.
"Candied haws, candied haws." Someone on the roadside shouted.
Zhou Shui pulled Zheng Xinyi aside: "Wait for me here."
"Where are you going?" Zheng Xinyi looked at him in surprise.
Zhou Shui trotted over to the candied haws stall and bought two strings. Then he trotted back with a sunny smile on his face as he handed the candied haws to Zheng Xinyi: "When you're in a bad mood, eat some sweets and you'll feel better."
Zheng Xinyi looked at him with her big, watery eyes, feeling a little touched. She took the candied haws and said softly, "Thank you."
"Xinyi, I have something to say to you." Zhou Shui plucked up his courage and said seriously to Zheng Xinyi who was eating candied haws.
"What?" Zheng Xinyi saw his face turned serious, so she stopped and waited for his next words.
After a long while, Zhou Shui slowly spoke: "Xinyi, I like you and want to date you."
As soon as the words fell, Zheng Xinyi froze on the spot, staring at the handsome Zhou Shui.
"Why don't you say anything? Do you feel that I am not worthy of you?" Zhou Shui lowered his head with some inferiority. He knew that he was a veteran and had no job, while Zheng Xinyi had her own clinic and her medical skills were so good, but Zhou Shui just wanted to protect her, and this impulse was very strong.
"No, Zhou Shui, you are indeed a good person, but I... my mind is on the clinic right now, and I am not ready to fall in love." Zheng Xinyi said hesitantly.
"Opening a clinic won't prevent you from dating, right? Besides, we are together every day now. If you want, I can help you run the clinic." Zhou Shui said seriously.

But Zhou Shui ignored her. From behind, he looked like a normal person, but from the front, his facial expression had begun to distort. He crossed his arms over his chest and quickly left with a look of pain on his face. Then he huddled in an empty corner, his body twitching violently, he felt extremely uncomfortable, he held his head with both hands, his brows tightly furrowed, he was in unbearable pain.
"Do you need this?" Someone came over and handed him a cigarette. Zhou Shui took the cigarette completely out of control, took a few deep puffs, and his body began to relax slowly.
Zheng Xinyi stood there in a daze, looking at the direction he left, then turned around and left with a confused look on her face. Ever since Zhou Shui came along, those gangsters never bothered her again. She sat in the hall, quietly waiting for Zhou Shui to return, staring at the door with expectant eyes.
Finally, she was so sleepy that she dozed off while sitting. She didn't know what time it was when someone put clothes on her. Zheng Xinyi shuddered and her face was full of worry: "Zhou Shui, where have you been?"
"I'm sorry, something urgent has come up." Zhou Shui said modestly. He was afraid that Zheng Xinyi would ask more questions, so he pushed her away: "Okay, don't think too much, go to bed quickly, you have to get up early tomorrow."
