Chapter 9: Not Stupid Anymore

After cleaning up the dishes and drying his wet hands with a towel, he was about to go back to his room when he looked up through the crack in the door that Zheng Xinyue hadn't closed tightly. He saw her holding a pen, resting her chin on her hand, and looking as if she was thinking in agony.

Zheng Xinyi raised a smile and shook her head slightly, thinking that this little girl must have encountered some difficulties.

Thinking of this, Zheng Xinyi pushed the door open and walked in, startling Zheng Xinyue who was standing in front of the desk in a daze. She quickly put the test paper with a red circle drawn by the teacher under the book.

"What are you hiding?" Zheng Xinyi asked when she saw her nervous expression.

Zheng Xinyue rolled her eyes at her: "Sister, don't you knock before you come in? What if I'm changing clothes in there, won't everything be exposed?"

Zheng Xinyi snatched the pen from her hand and placed it on her forehead with a little force: "I'm your sister, are you afraid that I'll peek at you?"

Zheng Xinyue pouted, snatched the pen from her hand awkwardly, sat on the wooden bench, lowered her head and said nothing.

Zheng Xinyi glanced at her and immediately took the paper out from under her book: "Xinyue, there are so many red circles drawn on it."

Zheng Xinyue was completely furious and reached out to grab it, but Zheng Xinyi's nimble little hands moved left and right, making it impossible for her to grab it. She glanced at her parents who were working in the yard and lowered her voice: "Sister, what on earth do you want to do? Hurry and give me the test paper. If my parents see this, I'm done for."

Zheng Xinyi looked seriously at the red circled area on the test paper, picked up a wooden stool and sat down next to her: "Xinyue, you were really careless on this question, and this one too, how could you get it wrong?"

"This question is very difficult. Few of my classmates got it right." Zheng Xinyue said as a matter of course.

"Hey, you little girl, why don't you learn something else at such a young age? Instead, you learn to make excuses for yourself?" Zheng Xinyi scolded her younger sister like an older sister.

Zheng Xinyue was a little unconvinced: "If you have the guts, why don't you make one for me?"

"Just do it and watch." Under Zheng Xinyue's surprised gaze, she held the pen in a very professional manner.

At first, Zheng Xinyue really didn't believe that Zheng Xinyi, who couldn't even read a single word, could solve such a difficult math problem. However, she really underestimated this sister. She just saw her holding the pen and making a few strokes on the draft paper, and the math problem that had troubled her for several hours was solved.

Zheng Xinyue widened her eyes, her mouth formed an O shape, and she stared at the math problem that was so easily solved.

Zheng Xinyi had expected her to have this expression, and she raised her eyebrows at her with a smug look on her face: "How about it? Do you feel particularly impressed by your sister?"

Zheng Xinyue nodded silently, then ran out at the speed of the wind with the solved math problem: "Dad, Mom, brother, come and see, I can not only read, but also solve math problems!"

In the blink of an eye, the Zheng family gathered around. Cuihua was so happy that she couldn't close her mouth. She took Zheng Xinyue's draft paper and placed it in front of Zheng Xinyi, who looked confused: "My daughter, I said you solved this math problem?"

"Well, I used to lean against the window at the school gate and listened to the teacher's classes a few times, so I remembered some of it." Zheng Xinyi said guiltily.

Zheng Xinyue thought about it and realized that it was the busiest time for farm work at home and there was no one to take care of Zheng Xinyi, so she did take her to school for some time.

"Haha, Cuihua, our daughter is not only not stupid anymore, but has become a child prodigy. I have to tell this good news to my relatives and let those who usually look down on our Xinyi see her." Zheng Shaochun took a few puffs of his pipe excitedly.

"Yes, yes, tomorrow I will go and tell the Cheng family the news and let them know that Cheng Haoyu married my sister, which is his blessing." Zheng Shaochun said.

Zheng Xinyue patted her chest and said, "Leave it to me. I'll tell Cheng Haoting tomorrow."

Zheng Xinyi suddenly felt that she seemed to be too outspoken. If the Cheng family knew that she was not crazy, it would be even more difficult to cancel the engagement.
