Along the way, Zheng Xinyi told Cheng Haoyu about the people and things in her hometown, even telling him word for word about how they met and got engaged. She told him every story about every person in the family, as long as Zheng Xinyi could think of it.
Cheng Haoyu felt that he was finally not so unfamiliar with this home and the place where he was born and raised.
"I never thought that our family has so many stories, and our relationship has been so bumpy along the way." Cheng Haoyu sighed softly, feeling from the bottom of his heart.
Zheng Xinyi stretched lazily, looked up at the sky outside, and watched the receding reflections. The corners of her mouth curled up slightly. "Yes! If I really want to tell all our stories, I'm afraid it will take days and nights to finish."
"It's okay, we have plenty of time in the future. I will listen to your stories slowly. Maybe one day, when I listen to these touching stories, I will suddenly be inspired and my memory will be restored." Cheng Haoyu responded with a serious smile. Yes, the story is long, but they have plenty of time.
Zheng Xinyi glanced at Cheng Haoyu and raised her eyebrows: "Time flies so fast, I'm almost home without realizing it."
"I've been listening to your stories all the way and haven't had time to eat the dry food your aunt gave you. I guess you must be hungry after talking so much. How about we eat less?" As he spoke, Cheng Haoyu took out the package that Liu Yun had prepared for them.
Zheng Xinyi nodded gently: "Okay!"
The train quickly pulled into Niujiacun Station. Zheng Xinyi's heart suddenly became both excited and nervous. "I'm finally home. I wonder if everyone is doing well. My little Ai Yu must have grown up a lot."
Cheng Haoyu looked around and asked, "Is this our hometown?"
Zheng Xinyi nodded at him seriously: "Yes, let's go!"
Cheng Haoyu followed Zheng Xinyi's footsteps and got off the train. He stood in the station, looking around, hoping to find a sense of familiarity.
"Haoyu, how do you feel? Did you remember anything?" Zheng Xinyi asked.
Cheng Haoyu looked at Zheng Xinyi with an apologetic look and shook his head helplessly: "I'm sorry."
"It's okay, let's take it slow." Zheng Xinyi said with a smile as she took his arm.
"Haoyu? Xinyi? Are you also coming back on this train?" Suddenly, a middle-aged man in very simple clothes came over and greeted them warmly.
Cheng Haoyu looked at him with a confused look on his face.
"Are you Brother Lin who lives next door to Haoyu?" Zheng Xinyi looked him up and down, pointed at him and said with a smile.
"It's me." Brother Lin chuckled and then looked around: "What? No one came to pick you up?"
"We came back in a hurry, and our family members didn't know we were home." Zheng Xinyi responded with a smile.
"It just so happens that I'm here to pick someone up at the station. I'm driving a bullock cart. You can take a ride back with me later!" Brother Lin said enthusiastically.
"That's really great, thank you Brother Lin." Zheng Xinyi looked grateful.
Brother Lin drove the ox cart and took them all the way from the station back to Cheng's house. Along the way, he chatted with them word by word.
Cheng Haoyu's eyes kept moving, looking around, taking in the place where he was born and raised.
