Chapter 102 A Difficult Exam
It was only after Zhang Wei was brought into the exam classroom that she met some of her classmates. It could be said that the situation was a little different from what she had imagined.
She thought this place was like Titfield, with almost every ethnicity except white people.
Unexpectedly, she saw a familiar face in her classroom - an Indian.
This was the girl Zhang Wei had met in the Indian restaurant before. She was dressed completely differently today, and her hair was long and black. Zhang Wei recognized her at a glance.
She didn't notice Zhang Wei, who was sitting in his seat with his eyes closed and muttering to himself.
This examination room is very large, it is a relatively large tiered classroom. Zhang Wei roughly counted and found that all the hundred people should be taking the exam here.
Although they were all girls, they all sat quietly, with only a few of them trying to strike up a conversation with others, looking quite conspicuous.
"Hey, you're so beautiful, with your beautiful blonde hair you look like a royal princess. My name is Jenny, and I wonder if I'd be honored to meet you?"
The white girl who was speaking was dressed rather exaggeratedly and fancy, wearing fashionable adult clothes. However, she was quite tall, probably about 1.65 meters, and looked a bit mature, not like she was under 13 years old. She had plump lips and it was obvious that she was very talkative.
The girl next to her was completely different. Although she was not wearing a school uniform, she was wearing a gray student skirt suit. She looked a little cold, but not very pretty. Her forehead was slightly protruding and there were spots on both cheeks.
Although the girl was indifferent at first, she still stretched out her right hand with a bit of pride after hearing the enthusiastic compliment from Jenny, and uttered a name:
Eugenie
Jenny immediately reached out and shook her hand, smiling and saying, "It's my honor, Miss Eugenie!"
Zhang Wei was stunned by this scene. Were they role-playing something? Princess and maid?
"Uh-huh! Everyone please sit down and don't talk. The exam will start soon."
At this time, an invigilator came in. He was one of the examiners who had interviewed Zhang Wei before.
The classroom immediately became quiet, and Zhang Wei also withdrew his attention from other students.
The test paper was distributed immediately. It was a comprehensive test paper and all the questions were in English. There were some words that were different from American English, but it didn't affect anything.
The content was so broad that it included not only the conventional subjects of English, mathematics, science, Latin, religion and history, but even more terrifyingly, Greek and French were also included. Zhang Wei had never been exposed to them before. When she saw them, her heart sank. It seemed that there was no hope. No wonder Manny and the others couldn't get the scholarship.
There were a lot of questions. Zhang Wei counted and found that there were six test papers in total. What comforted her a little was that three subjects like English, mathematics and science accounted for two-thirds of the questions, a total of four papers, and the last two papers were Latin, Greek, religion and history.
She spent three minutes skimming through the questions. Now she could focus on writing them. There were some questions that she couldn't understand.
She first wrote in English. English abroad is actually equivalent to Chinese in our country. It includes reading comprehension and writing, as well as some issues about social culture and politics.
Zhang Wei did the previous English questions smoothly, but the last question was as follows:
It's 2040, and you're the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Explain why it's "necessary and ethical" for you to hire the military to fight and kill violent protesters in London.
This is a bit too difficult as an entrance examination question for junior high school freshmen. Zhang Wei couldn't help but feel a little confused when he saw it. This is a national political issue in the UK.
She thought back to when she was studying politics, and when she didn't know how to write, she considered three aspects: the country, society, and the individual.
She also considered three aspects when explaining the harm caused by violent protesters, but in the end the 700-word limit was not enough for her to write.
Mathematics is really the easiest subject. The content is only at the junior high school level. The difficulty is nothing for Zhang Wei, who has been baptized by competitions. She even checked it after writing it.
Science includes knowledge of biology, physics and chemistry, but the knowledge learned in elementary school is relatively basic. There are also some difficult questions here. Zhang Wei still has some residual knowledge from the first year of high school, so it is not too difficult for him to answer them.
The last two questions were the most difficult for her. In the three and a half hours of time, Zhang Wei left an hour and a half to deal with them. However, she could probably finish them in an hour. After all, several of the questions had characters that she knew, but she didn't.
The Latin test was not very difficult, as I could probably understand it by just reading it. Greek and French were a bit more difficult to understand, as although they both belong to the Indo-European language order, they do not have that many similarities.
If Spanish and Latin are 70% similar, French and Latin are only about 30%. Zhang Wei could only guess the meaning of sporadic words, which was absolutely impossible to use to answer questions.
Finally she counted and found that there were six questions that she had no way of answering.
But leaving the topic blank is not her style, so what should she write about?
Zhang Wei thought for a moment and wrote on it in Spanish and Chinese respectively: Sorry, I don’t know.
Regardless of whether it is useful or not, although she doesn't know Greek and Latin, she can speak Spanish and Chinese. Who knew that German would test so many minor languages.
Apart from these questions, she didn't do very well in the religious history questions either. She didn't know much about British history. She studied sociology in Country A because they didn't have history at all.
She could only guess based on the world history she had learned in high school, because she only remembered the Renaissance.
It can be said that she came in the morning with great excitement and confidence, but returned disappointed at noon. What kind of child is this who can get high scores on this test!
She saw that Namier's state after the test was completely different from hers, and even Emma was a little curious:
Could it be that the daughter who is an excellent student failed the exam, but this stupid son did very well?
Zhang Wei couldn't understand his good mood, so he asked:
"How did you do on the test, Namier?"
"I think it's pretty good!"
"Have you finished writing all the questions?!" Zhang Wei was surprised.
"Didn't I say I had finished writing it?" He looked at Zhang Wei in confusion.
"And you still say it's good?"
"Manny said he only finished three questions before, but I finished the fourth. That means I'm better than him, hahahaha!"
He smiled happily as he spoke, then moved closer to Zhang Wei, looked at her expression and asked:
"You won't answer less than I did, right?"
This is not the case. This is not the case.
"No, it's just that I don't know how to write on the last one."
"That's not normal. This is German. Do you think anyone can get a King's Scholarship? There were Nobel Prize winners who received the King's Scholarship before!"
Zhang Wei smiled awkwardly. She really couldn't compare. She couldn't say that she had intended to compete from the beginning.
