Chapter 119 Returning Home
The school did not reduce the number of classes on Friday afternoon because it was a day for students to go home. Zhang Wei chose the equestrian class as her elective physical education class.
There was no way. Cricket had consumed too much of her energy, and she didn't want to choose any more ball games. Instead, equestrian lessons seemed much easier.
After all, she used to go to the stables to practice often, and her riding skills were not bad in the equestrian class. Moreover, when the coach knew that she had a horse of her own, he encouraged her to participate in the competition, saying that she had a very high chance of winning a prize. Zhang Wei was actually a little tempted by what he said.
However, her horse is in Country A, and it is impossible to bring it to the UK to participate in the competition. The cost of transportation may be greater than the results she gets from the competition.
So Zhang Wei still refused. She felt that this kind of competition that required a lot of effort was not suitable for her.
The most important thing is that she feels that this kind of sports competition is not particularly important to her. Although the surrounding environment tells her that it is important, her cognition is still relatively stubborn, and it will take some time to change her concept.
After happily riding the horse for a few laps, she was ready to go home. Zhang Wei quickly took a shower and changed her clothes. When she got outside, she found Manny and Namier were already waiting there.
"You're here so soon? Where's mom?" Zhang Wei knew Emma would definitely come to pick them up.
"The car is parked over there, we'll wait for you to come over together." Manny seemed to have grown a little taller.
Emma was so happy to see them that she kept staring at them, touching Zhang Wei's head and patting Namier's back. She smiled at Manny, feeling a little relieved but also a little reluctant.
“My children seem to have grown up all of a sudden!”
Zhang Wei took her hand and leaned on her shoulder, acting coquettishly for the first time: "Even when I grow up, I will still be your child!"
"Vera must have been hiding in her bed in the dormitory crying at night," Namir said, covering his mouth and laughing.
Zhang Wei nodded immediately: "Yes, Namier definitely doesn't miss home at all. You don't have to take Mier back next week, Mom!"
"Hmph, childish!" Namir rolled his eyes and snorted, and Manny also laughed.
Damn, it’s because you two straight men don’t understand the delicate thoughts of a mother that I want to comfort Emma. It’s unbearable that she, a fake child, is laughed at by two real children as a childish child!
Zhang Wei immediately reached out and pinched his soft flesh, causing Namier to cry out in pain with a "Ah~" sound.
"Mom, Vera hit me!"
Zhang Wei made a face and argued: "No, no, it was a bug that bit him." How childish!
Time passed quickly as they played and joked along the way. However, this time Zhang Wei saw that the driver was not going to the apartment. When he looked out the window curiously, Emma explained:
"Charles said he wanted to give you a surprise. Go down and see if you like the new house here."
Zhang Wei saw the detached villa, the spacious front lawn, the flower garden, and the not-too-close neighbors, and felt that the air was much fresher than that in the apartment.
"Mom! Can I have a puppy?" Namir asked happily while doing somersaults on the lawn.
"Then you need to get the consent of everyone in the family!"
After hearing this, Zhang Wei raised her eyebrows at him proudly. Look, it's in her hands again.
Seeing Zhang Wei squatting beside the flowerbed looking at the flowers, Emma explained:
"This was planted by the previous owner. She originally wanted to pull it out, but I thought since you like your rose garden so much, you would like this too, so I asked them to leave it."
"Yes, Mom, I like it very much, thank you!" Zhang Wei felt very relaxed when looking at the blooming dahlias and tulips.
It seemed that this month at school was longer than the previous six months, making her feel that home was indeed a place worth cherishing.
The layout of the room in the new house is not much different from the previous one. Even the things that Zhang Wei had placed in the apartment before have been moved to her room. Looking at the familiar things, Zhang Wei immediately accepted the environment of the new home.
She didn't care about her studies at all. She picked up a shovel and started thinning out the dahlias. They seemed to be growing too densely. She also found some lavender in a corner. Its flowering period was almost over, but it still had a faint fragrance.
She squatted there for half an hour and no one came to disturb her. Zhang Wei felt a sense of accomplishment when she saw the flowerbed cleared of weeds. She then cut some flowers with scissors and took them back to put in a vase.
When they entered the living room, they found that Charles had returned and was sitting at the dining table with Emma waiting for them.
"Dad, you're back. Sorry, I didn't see you just now. Where are Manny and the others? I'll go call them!"
Zhang Wei immediately put down the flowers and went upstairs to call for help.
Then I found Namir and Manny playing games in the dark room with headphones on, and they forgot to turn on the lights.
Zhang Wei went over and patted their shoulders before they realized someone had come in.
"Mom and Dad are waiting for us to have dinner! Hurry up!"
"Ah? Is it time for dinner?" Manny looked at the time and saw that it was almost eight o'clock, so he immediately pulled Namir out of the room.
"Why didn't you call us? Really!" Namir complained.
"You've worked hard at school for a month. It's finally time for you to relax. I don't have the heart to disturb you," Emma said.
Manny hadn't played games for a long time, but he picked up the game console again for Namier. Zhang Wei was so focused on playing in the mud that no one came to call her. Zhang Wei was extremely touched by her family's thoughtfulness.
"How's the month been, kids?" Charles asked.
Zhang Wei looked at Namier, and Namier looked at her, so she spoke first:
"Overall it's pretty good. There are quite a lot of courses and every day is very fulfilling. It was a bit difficult at the beginning, but now I'm gradually getting used to it."
"Vera, I'm not worried about you. After all, you're a King's Scholar. I hope you'll continue to enjoy your life!"
As soon as Charles finished speaking, Namier winked at her and said:
"I heard the King's Scholarship winner was punished!"
Zhang Wei had originally planned to report only the good news, but she was unexpectedly exposed by Namier. However, she was really curious:
"Where did you get all this information? We don't have any boys here."
Had the news of them being punished to sweep the grounds spread throughout the school? They were so secretive about it every morning.
Namier explained helplessly, "Our housemistress's sister is the housemistress in the girls' dormitory, so she often chats with the other housemistresses about the girls. They don't know that her office is right downstairs from our dormitory, so they can't help but listen."
It must not be Grandma Mia, Zhang Wei was sure. This meant that the people in the dormitory were indeed paying unusual attention to them. She always felt that something was going to happen, and the facts proved that her premonition was correct.
"What punishment?" Everyone except Namier was very curious, so Zhang Wei had to tell everyone that they all violated the rules and were punished to clean the campus.
"Poor child!" Emma just sighed and had no objection to the school's punishment.
