Chapter 136 Treetop Adventure

Chapter 136 Treetop Adventure

The next morning, before seven o'clock, everyone was woken up by the team leader.

I don’t know if it was because of what happened the night before, but Zhang Wei actually had a dream all night. She dreamed that she met a ghost while climbing a mountain, and then they chased each other on the mountain, so she was very tired when she woke up in the morning.

She was feeling very depressed when she heard some not-so-good news. The tour leader told them that they would not be staying here for the next few days, so they had to bring all their belongings with them this time.

Zhang Wei knew that their field practice activities had officially begun.

In this way, each person received a simple breakfast of two slices of dry bread and a box of milk, and then left Fort William on foot in the quiet morning.

The boys started off earlier than them. When the girls started off, they could only see a tail of the group in front of them. They were at least one kilometer ahead of the girls.

Zhang Wei looked at the somewhat listless and quiet team, wearing uniform dark green windbreakers, which still looked a bit like a zombie siege.

She didn't get enough rest because she had dreams at night, while the other students didn't get enough rest because they didn't take a shower.

Yes, Europeans are used to getting up early and taking a shower. After all these years, Zhang Wei still finds this habit difficult to accept.

Because the teacher in charge asked them to get up suddenly today, the time was very tight and many girls didn't even have time to take a shower, which greatly affected their condition.

Fortunately, Zhang Wei did not have this problem, and after she walked for more than ten minutes, her mind gradually became clearer due to the mountain breeze.

It was much colder in the morning than during the day, and they were now walking towards Mount Nevis. Looking at the white-capped mountain top, they knew that the temperature would get lower and lower.

She saw that many people did not have breakfast, and some girls even threw the bread and milk they were given back at the B&B. Zhang Wei did not eat it herself, but she put the bread and milk in her pocket, and asked the tour leader to take two more and put them in her schoolbag.

When her body gradually warmed up and the bread and milk in her pocket also retained some body temperature, she took them out and began to eat slowly.

The bread was dry and choking, so she could only chew it twice and drink a sip of milk to wash it down. Zhang Wei didn't know why people in other countries liked bread so much, and why the bread here was so consistently bad. She missed the Golden Crown bread from her school, which was fragrant, soft and cheap.

At the same time, everyone's hunger gradually subsided and they began to eat bread. At this time, those who did not bring breakfast asked the team leader when breakfast would be provided. The answer they got was that no food would be provided until the morning activities were completed.

Well, this time even Hayat reluctantly gnawed on the dry bread slowly, after all, he didn't know how long he would have to walk like this.

Tracy only ate one piece and then frowned and put the rest away. It seemed that there was nothing wrong with her taste buds.

Zhang Wei always thought that they didn't need to walk for a long time. After all, according to the map, they were only two or three kilometers away from Mount Nevis. But after she had walked for an hour, she realized that she was wrong.

It’s not that no one was slacking off. Some girls gradually fell behind, but the leading teacher in front did not slow down or take any other action. In this way, the number of people in the team in front of Zhang Wei and her classmates gradually decreased.

The team that could have blocked the entire road now couldn't even block the road, and the team in the middle was sparsely populated. The team in front of them had only thirty or forty people.

Zhang Wei didn't feel a big burden. She adjusted her breathing and walked at a relatively even pace. She didn't consume too much physical energy. She was just a little thirsty. Fortunately, she had extra milk in her backpack, so it wasn't very difficult to endure.

It was obvious that Tracy and Butch were struggling to hold on. They were both rather thin, and weighted marching was very different from regular physical education classes. The other roommates were fine.

Their sense of belief as excellence makes them rush to the front by inertia. Falling behind even a little seems to be a shame for the medals on their chests. Yes, they also have medals pinned on their jackets.

The school stipulates that the medal must be worn during any school activities, which serves as a reminder to oneself and an inspiration to others.

Finally, just when everyone thought the leader was going to lead them up the mountain in one breath, they stopped at the edge of a forest.

"Okay! Rest here for fifteen minutes!"

This sentence was like the sound of nature, accompanied by the sounds of "bang", "bang", and "bang", and many backpacks were thrown directly to the ground. Then people lay down directly on the backpacks on the ground and took a rest without making any noise.

Zhang Wei put her bag against a tree and found a rock to sit on. Although the grass on the ground looked comfortable to sit on, she didn't want to get her butt wet.

Tracy looked at the ground and hesitated for a moment, then found a rock to sit on like Zhang Wei.

Butch didn't even put down the bag, but lay on the ground with it, motionless as if he was asleep.

People were lying on the ground one after another, it was like a refugee camp.

“Beep—”

The break time was so short. With a whistle, the team leader called everyone together.

Then everyone ignored their bags and reluctantly went to the gathering place, only to find that there were only about 60 people in total.

“Now let’s start today’s practical project – treetop exploration.”

As soon as the leader finished speaking, a girl asked:

"What if some people haven't come yet? Are we the only ones participating?"

"That's a good question. People can't participate without it."

As soon as she finished speaking, the girls started to discuss loudly. Is there any harm in coming early?

Zhang Wei felt it was not that simple, and the team leader continued:

“Although they were unable to participate, they still had a 10-kilometer hike to complete before they could have lunch.”

Only then did everyone nod in satisfaction, because the distance they had just traveled was probably about ten kilometers, and it would be really tiring to make another trip, but as long as it wasn't them alone, it would be fine.

Then everyone quieted down and began to listen to the leader explain the rules of the treetop adventure.

There are three treetop adventure trails: the Night Owl Trail, the Red Fox Trail, and the Barn Swan Trail.

As the names suggest, the least difficult is the Wildcat Trail and the most difficult is the Swan Trail. These trails are climbing belts built between trees with ropes.

Just one kilometer up from the foot of the mountain, there is a climbing trail built with ropes. The simplest wild cat trail is built on a tree trunk more than 1.5 meters above the ground, the red swan trail has a rope more than 3 meters above the ground, and the most difficult swan trail is built more than 5 meters above the ground.

And because the trees in the forest vary in size and height, the branches grow more complex the higher they are, so the gander's path isn't just higher.

"You are free to choose from three paths!"

After the team leader said this, the team exploded again.

“Is there any benefit in choosing a difficult path?”

"What happens if we don't make it?"

"Can I not participate?"

Faced with everyone's barrage of questions, the team leader smiled and said nothing.
