Chapter 225 Repeater

Chapter 225 Repeater

Vacations are always short, and soon Zhang Wei plunged into her intensive studies again. However, after a period of concentrating on her own project, she still needed to start completing the homework assigned by Professor Laura.

Professor Laura already has her own R&D team in a world-renowned pharmaceutical company. Occasionally, she would assign some additional research tasks, but these were paid, and the benefits were good, which could fully cover Zhang Wei's expenses for hiring an assistant.

Professor Laura was very satisfied with Zhang Wei's work efficiency and told her that she could apply for various scholarships, which allowed Zhang Wei to earn some considerable income.

The full scholarship she received had already fully covered her tuition fees, and with the income she received, her salary actually reached above the average salary level in Country A.

Although she has no shortage of money, who would complain about having too much money? Besides, it is paid by the school, so she is extremely happy to receive it. No wonder it is said that there is a golden house in the book.

Moreover, Professor Laura's attitude towards her, or rather her attitude towards students, has always been respectful. Every time she has some tasks, she will ask her if she has time, as if she can just not do it if she says she doesn't want to do it.

This is indeed the case. Professor Laura now has only five students, including her and former students. Sometimes Zhang Wei hears her seniors say, "I'm really too busy lately. Sorry."

Professor Laura would not have any complaints, she would have said: "Okay, I'll see if anyone else is free."

Zhang Wei usually wouldn't refuse. First, she had already completed the preliminary report of her own project. The experimental scope was relatively broad, and there were many experiments to be done, so there was no need to rush. She arranged her work according to the progress of their laboratory, so sometimes if she finished quickly, they would leave work early, and then she could go out to earn extra money.

In addition, some technically demanding jobs can also allow her to accumulate more experience, and she doesn't feel very tired. After getting used to the busy and fulfilling life, she will feel empty if she is too idle.

She was in the laboratory, looking at the empty test kits next to her. She felt that it was another fulfilling day. Then she said to Irfa:

"I'm going to be out tomorrow morning. When you get there, go to the supplies room and get some reagents."

"OK"

Zhang Wei had to go to Professor Laura in the morning to hand in the results of the task he had received two days ago, so that they could arrive earlier and get the reagents and start working first, saving time.

When Zhang Wei arrived at Professor Laura's place, she was meeting a guest, so Zhang Wei waited for her in the lounge nearby, and then met Eric, a senior who had always been unkind to her.

Although he is called a senior, he is a middle-aged man in his thirties. This year is his sixth year of doctoral study. If he cannot graduate yet, he will have to continue to study for the seventh year.

Zhang Wei probably knew why Eric was not very friendly to her. One reason was that he was like that to everyone, except for smiling at Professor Laura. He almost always had a stern face, which was consistent with Zhang Wei's previous stereotype of people from Country A. They looked gloomy and strange, just like the bad neighbor who suddenly complained about you.

Another reason was probably that she had recently received a lot of "extra" work from Professor Laura. She had heard from others that Professor Laura had previously assigned most of the work to Eric.

Zhang Wei didn't intend to try to please someone who didn't like him. Seeing that he had a stern face and didn't seem to want to communicate, Zhang Wei just sat further away and didn't say anything.

Professor Laura came over not long after. Eric almost immediately jumped up from his seat, rushed to Professor Laura, and showed her the information in his hand:

"Professor, I have completed the previous task. This is the final result."

Professor Laura flipped through it a little, nodded and said, "Okay, you go back first!"

"Professor, is there anything else I can do?" Eric asked immediately.

"Oh, not yet, but I haven't received the outline for your graduation project this year. Please spend more time on it."

Professor Laura patted his shoulder, and Eric's face stiffened again.

"Professor, this is the last assignment. The electronic file has been sent to your email." Zhang Wei said immediately when she saw the professor looking at her.

Eric had already walked to the door, but he still asked:

"Professor, do you really not have any extra work recently?"

Professor Laura remained gentle: "I'm sorry, Eric, but there's nothing I need you to do for now."

Eric could only go out dejectedly.

"Not bad," Professor Laura said after reading Zhang Wei's report, "You've always been fast and rarely make mistakes. If you have time, take a look at this."

Zhang Wei was surprised to see that it was an international medical exchange meeting.

"Can I go too?"

"Why not? You should have noticed that the work I've been assigned to you lately has been all about tedious data compilation. You're doing very well in this area. You're working on part of my latest research, and you make fewer mistakes in data analysis than anyone else in my lab. Since you're involved, why not become my assistant?"

Dealing with numbers turned out to be her specialty again. Zhang Wei was a little surprised and quickly agreed. It was of course great to be able to go to a place where many great people gathered and see the world.

When she walked out of Professor Laura's office, her steps were much lighter, but as soon as she walked out of the office building, she was stopped by the person in front of her:

"Are you happy that you stole my job?"

Eric walked up to her with a gloomy face and looked at the smile that had not yet faded from Zhang Wei's face.

"I don't understand what you're talking about!"

Zhang Wei didn't want to argue with him, as he didn't seem to want to be reasonable.

"It's privileged people like you who not only get extra interview opportunities, but you're clearly not short of money. Yet, a lab like this hired two outsiders and took away the jobs that others rely on for survival. Don't you feel despicable and shameful?"

Zhang Wei was so angry at his illogical words that he laughed:

"The extra interview opportunity was given to me by Professor Laura. I didn't take up anyone else's spot. This has nothing to do with you, a PhD student who hasn't graduated in six years, right?"

Seeing Eric's face turn pale with anger, Zhang Wei did not let him go:

"I pay for the lab assistants myself. Even though there are only two of us, it's definitely not as good as some labs that hire ten or eight assistants, but all of them run away!"

Eric also has a laboratory, but I heard that he likes to exploit his juniors for free, so they all ran away.

"Finally, what stole your job? You're incompetent and can't even get a salary. Don't you think about how bad you are? Even I, who only studied for a doctorate for less than a year, can steal your job!"

"You, you, you are despicable!"

Eric gritted his teeth and squeezed out a few words. After thinking for a while, he was unable to refute.
