Chapter 230 Go Back

Chapter 230 Go Back

After Zhang Wei picked up Paris from the airport, he followed him to his family's old house.

Zhang Wei thought it was an old house in the countryside, but it turned out to be a three-story building not located in a very remote place, and surrounded by a high-end residential area with good greenery.

But it's amazing that it hasn't been demolished given its great location.

When Zhang Wei and his friends took a taxi to the door of the house, they heard a burst of dog barking. As soon as they got out of the car, they saw a big black dog barking at them ferociously.

Then an old man came out from the first floor, and Paris immediately shouted:

"Uncle An, it's me, A Qian!"

The old man ran closer to take a look, as if in disbelief. After confirming, he shouted excitedly:

"Aqian is back! Aqian!"

Even after they were welcomed into the house, the big black dog was still staring at them hungrily.

Seeing Zhang Wei staring at the big black dog, Uncle An said with a smile:

"Before, your father came back and brought the General to me to keep me company. With him by my side, I don't feel lonely at all."

"It's called General, the name fits it very well, it's majestic and imposing."

In fact, Zhang Wei was still a little wary of this big dog. After all, its fighting ability was not to be underestimated. However, it listened to Uncle An and just lay at the door without coming in.

Uncle An is chatting with Paris:

"Even though I couldn't find you, you still came back to see me. I can die with my eyes closed."

Paris was about to say something when Uncle An stopped him and continued:

"I'm not afraid of death, but your grandfather must be very happy to see you dating. When he was alive, he was most worried that you would find a foreigner like your father!"

As he said this, he looked at Zhang Wei with a smile, which made Zhang Wei feel a little uncomfortable.

She knew that Uncle An had misunderstood, so she looked at Paris.

Paris saw Zhang Wei's gaze and immediately said:

"Uncle An, you misunderstood, she is my good friend!"

Uncle An waved his hand and said with a look of understanding: "I see, we are good friends. You young people just have a lot of tricks up your sleeve."

Zhang Wei was helpless, but seeing that the old man was happy, she didn't say anything. It was rare for him to see Paris come back, so let him be happy.

Uncle An insisted on cooking lunch himself and didn't let Zhang Wei and the others help, so Paris took Zhang Wei for a walk around the neighborhood.

"With such a good location around here, why hasn't it been demolished?"

Zhang Wei asked the question she had at the beginning.

"This house, along with the large piece of land surrounding it, was originally owned by my grandfather and later gifted to me."

“Some companies also approached me, but I didn’t want to sell, so I stayed.”

Zhang Wei was surprised: "So you're a landlord! This includes all the way to the lake, plus the wasteland behind it?"

On the other side of the lake is a high-end residential area, and the wasteland behind it looks to be more than ten acres, which is quite a large area.

"When I was a kid, I often went to bathe in the lake. Later, my grandfather used to grow vegetables and sell them, but now it's all been abandoned."

"A place that carries so many memories should indeed be preserved." Zhang Wei nodded in agreement.

"When you have time later, you can rest for a while. Then you can come over for vacation. Uncle An won't be too lonely."

Zhang Wei joked, "When you get married and have a child, let Uncle An take care of it. He definitely won't feel lonely!"

"Would you like to?"

Paris's blue eyes suddenly looked at her, causing Zhang Wei to panic for a moment. She suddenly stuttered:

"W-what?"

Paris then said in a normal tone: "I mean, if it were you, would you be willing to come here for vacation?"

"Vacation,"

Zhang Wei didn't know why, but she suddenly felt relieved. She looked at the lake in the distance and thought that seeing such a view in the city was not bad.

"This place is really nice for vacation. You can ask me to come with you next time you come back. I really like staying here."

"General!" Zhang Wei shouted to the big black dog not far away. Unexpectedly, it ran over quickly. Zhang Wei was overjoyed:

"It recognized us right away! So smart!"

The lunch was simple but tasted very good. Zhang Wei kept praising the dishes for being delicious, which made Uncle An very happy.

In the afternoon, Zhang Wei accompanied Paris and Uncle An to prepare the offerings for the ceremony and went to pay respects to Paris's grandfather. Uncle An was very happy and asked Zhang Wei several times:

"Is Xiao Wei going too?"

Zhang Wei didn't think it was a big deal. She and Paris grew up together, and Paris helped her a lot. Grandpa Lin would also be very happy to meet his grandson's friends. After all, Paris really didn't have many friends.

Because Uncle An always called Paris "A Qian", Zhang Wei felt that it was inappropriate to call Paris that anymore, so she followed suit. However, both Paris and Uncle An spoke Cantonese, and Zhang Wei could only listen but not speak. Paris's Mandarin was really bad, so Zhang Wei could only communicate with him in English.

They did not stay in the hotel at night. Although the small building looked a bit old from the outside, it was very clean and tidy inside, and there were many classical furnitures, which was no worse than a hotel.

The next day, Zhang Wei went to the airport to see Professor Laura and the others back to Country A. After that, she and Paris stayed for another day with Uncle An, and then Zhang Wei booked a flight back to City A.

Her plan was to go back to City A to visit the welfare home first, then go to Jiangcheng, the city where she lived in her previous life, and finally she wanted to visit Chenjia Village.

Paris had no objection, because this was his first time going to the mainland, so he followed Zhang Wei's arrangements.

Their trip was not smooth. There were many thunderstorms at the turn of spring and summer, and the flight was forced to be postponed. So Zhang Wei and his friends stayed for another day before boarding the plane.

After getting off the plane, Zhang Wei was a little uncomfortable because he had to go through the foreign channel because of his passport.

However, looking at the very familiar airport layout and the friendly Mandarin, Zhang Wei felt very safe, a kind of peace of mind that she could not get in Hong Kong.

On the contrary, Paris needs to rely on her at any time because not everyone can speak English and most people find it difficult to understand his Mandarin.

It was obvious that he was a little uncomfortable, but Zhang Wei rarely saw him looking a little clumsy, so he found it quite amusing.

After arriving in City A, perhaps because she was a little nervous, Zhang Wei did not rush to the welfare home. She first found a hotel with Paris to stay in.

Unexpectedly, this turned out to be a hassle, because they couldn't check into most hotels. Since they held foreign passports, they needed to stay in hotels that were qualified to receive foreign guests.

Zhang Wei didn't expect that it would be so inconvenient in the country without an ID card.

Fortunately, City A is also a big city, and after looking for several places, they finally found a suitable accommodation. Although Zhang Wei communicated with the hotel staff in fluent Mandarin, they still sent someone to ask in English if they had any other needs after Zhang Wei and his friends checked in.

Being treated as a foreigner doesn't feel very comfortable either.
