Chapter 8: Sudden

Chapter 8: Sudden

"How do you know?" Looking at Chunfeng's expression, it was obvious that he thought this was a child's joke.

"Of course I know. If you don't believe me, you can ask the dean's mother!"

"Okay, I'll ask." She agreed very nicely, but Zhang Wei knew that she didn't take it seriously.

Two months were about to pass, and Zhang Wei couldn't help but feel a little excited when he thought about leaving here. If he had to stay here for ten or eight years, Zhang Wei felt that he might go crazy.

That day, Chunfeng asked her a question: "Weiwei, do you want to be adopted?"

"Well, being adopted wouldn't be bad either!" Zhang Wei thought of Officer Hou's sister. She didn't look like a scheming person, so it should be easy to get along with her.

When she opened her mouth, she asked abruptly, "Do you think being adopted is bad?"

"No," Chunfeng took the book away from Zhang Wei's hand, asked her to face him, and grabbed Zhang Wei's shoulders with both hands and said seriously: "No, Weiwei, you should stay here, so we can read together every day!"

Then Chunfeng talked about her adoption. Yes, Chunfeng had been adopted before and was sent back.

In fact, healthy children under the age of 12 in the welfare home are easily adopted. Chunfeng has been sought for adoption several times since that incident, but she herself did not agree.

It turned out that Chunfeng was adopted by a childless couple when she was six years old. A few months later, the hostess became pregnant and started to treat her badly. Later, she sent Chunfeng to an orphanage.

"There won't always be bad people," Zhang Wei said, but she was definitely wary of the family that wanted to adopt her. After all, she was an adult.

"This place is too small. I still want to see the outside world."

Although Zhang Wei's previous life was not easy, she did achieve some freedom. A stable job and a secure residence gave her some sense of security. But before she had the chance to experience more of that world, she came here.

Since I can start over again, I must live again according to my own wishes!

But Zhang Wei was still very grateful for Chunfeng's kindness. She had obviously suffered a lot of hurt, but he still had good intentions towards her.

It has to be said that Chunfeng was quite prescient. That afternoon, Officer Hou came to see her and brought clothes and some snacks that her sister bought for Zhang Wei. He told her that Sister Hou would come to pick her up after she returned from a business trip in two days.

Zhang Wei originally wanted to share snacks with Chunfeng, but the welfare home suddenly started a big cleaning and didn't let them go to the library to read, saying that it had been tidied up and they needed someone to come and check it.

Everyone was locked up in the activity room to play. Zhang Wei didn't know that from that day on, she would never see spring breeze again...

All the children changed into clean new clothes, the floor was washed several times, and there were more teachers on duty. Almost everyone was assigned to keep the problem children in a separate area, and the activity room became unusually quiet.

Zhang Wei looked at this scene and felt very familiar with it. It was always like this every time a senior leader came to inspect the unit. The director would even carefully check everyone's desk before he would feel at ease. He would be scolded if someone put an apple on the desk.

There were colored pencils and white paper on the table. The teacher asked everyone to draw. The only sound in the activity room was the "swish" sound of the brushes on the paper.

Zhang Wei has never had any talent for painting. When she was in boarding school, the interest classes she chose were all practical - handicrafts, buttoning, sewing clothes. By the time she graduated from high school, she could even make her own skirts.

Now Zhang Wei is drawing skirts. Although she can’t draw other things, she can still draw clothes.

She drew a piece of clothing for a little girl, a modified Chinese-style skirt with a light yellow base, embellished with a few pale magnolia flowers. There was a button design at the neckline, and two blessing knots of the same color hanging on both sides of the chest. The design was narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, which looked cute and playful.

She thought about how she would feel like she was just painting an old cucumber green. She couldn't help but shudder at the thought. She was still a little uncomfortable with this child's body...

Zhang Wei was in a daze, her thoughts drifting to some corner when the drawing paper in her hand was snatched away. She looked up and found herself surrounded by people and shrouded in shadow. As it was against the light, she couldn't see clearly.

Only the director's mother's voice could be heard: "Her name is Weiwei, she's six years old, and she's usually very quiet."

To Zhang Wei's surprise, she heard someone translating this sentence into English!

She raised her head again and squinted her eyes to adjust to the light. Then she saw clearly that she was being watched by a group of outsiders!

They were passing around the "design" she had just drawn.

A bearded foreigner squatted down and looked at her. Zhang Wei was a little confused and said reflexively: "Hello", and forced herself to hold back "nice to meet you".

This damn exam-oriented education!

The foreigner was obviously very surprised, his gray-blue eyes revealing joy, and he immediately said in broken Chinese: "Hi! Hello, little princess!"

Zhang Wei could only smile at him awkwardly; she felt stupid.

"Emma, look, she is very cute." The foreigner turned to a foreign woman next to him and said in English.

Zhang Wei looked over and saw a beautiful foreign beauty! She looked a bit like Anne Hathaway, with distinct features, big, deep eyes, and brown-black hair. She was smiling at her gently.

Zhang Wei didn't say anything afterwards. Several people who looked like leaders took these foreigners to see other children. It was obvious that the director's mother was also very nervous, with her hands clasped in front of her.

A few children were so scared that they started crying, and the teachers were a little at a loss.

It seems that he is an investor with a very prominent background. Zhang Wei doesn't think of anything else.

After lunch, they were finally let go. Zhang Wei was about to go to the library when she was taken to see the director's mother.

"What a good child!" She stroked Zhang Wei's head. This was the second time she did this. The first time was when Officer Hou brought her over.

"Do you still remember Uncle Hou?" asked the director's mother.

"I remember." Zhang Wei nodded.

"Uncle Hou said he and his family have something to do and can't take you home,"

Hearing this, Zhang Wei immediately looked at her with a questioning look.

"Weiwei is a smart girl. It's okay. There are other people who like you too." After saying that, the director's mother stuffed two candies into Zhang Wei's hands.

Seeing that Zhang Wei's mood was relatively stable, the dean sent her back to the activity room. At this time, Zhang Wei was no longer in the mood to go to the library.

She couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. Although she had originally planned to stay in the orphanage, it felt really awkward to have her plans for adoption come to nothing after she had been mentally prepared.

She thought about what Chunfeng had said before, and maybe it would be better for her to stay here. She was an adult and had a much stronger mental quality. She wouldn't argue with those kids when she went to school. When the time comes, she could study hard and get into a good university. It would definitely not be worse than her previous life.

With some chaotic thoughts, Zhang Wei slowly fell asleep...
